God of War: Be a Warrior Gameplay Trailer

This game looks downright amazing. I'm really loving the new direction, considering the franchise has suffered from franchise fatigue over the years. The gameplay looks epic and the graphics look beautiful. It's a refreshing direction for the series story wise. Sucks it had to be moved to 2018, but I guess it's worth the wait. What are your thoughts, SW? Are you interested in the franchise again? Did the fatigue ever settle in?

It doesn't really look like my cup of tea but that's okay. There are other PS4 that I am interested in.

So cinematic now, much story, the feels. 10/10 Ign, game had me in tears.

The gameplay looks fantastic. Considering I've never played a GOW game, I can not say more than that really.

You clearly can see gameplay in many instances,damn GOW4 is great that you can't tell cut scene from gameplay.

:D I don't call that a gameplay trailer as it keeps transitioning between story and gameplay segments, you can't fully grasp how's the gameplay, it's quite distracting.

I was thinking the same thing, and does every Sony game require you to climb a damn cliff, not another 10/10 climbing simulator is it???

It will probably be awesome but it makes me sad that they're abandoning the hack and slash formula. Not many out there anymore besides Bayonetta and the new, less improved Devil May Cry.

As funny as it sounds, God of War always had tons of climbing and platforming. It was the Uncharted before Uncharted but in the hack and slash genre.

This year's showing was better, but the weapon is meh and the kid is meh. I like most everything else about it.

The only thing I like about this new God of War is the fact that Kratos has a conscience. I do love the previous God of War games, but Kratos as a character was just a murdering mindless guy who's soul is pure revenge who wrong him in the way and didn't give a crap about those who have help him in the past. In God of War 3, later on, he had feelings that I thought was, yes, Kratos has feelings but all that went down the drain when it all came down to facing Zeus. Even at the end of GoW3, I felt sorry for him, he knew what he did was wrong and so with this new GoW game, all I just want is to see Kratos have conscience on what he does and seeing him becoming a Father again is a welcome thing but I wish he had a Daughter then a Son and for a guy like me who has a Daughter, I could even get behind this new approach. A Father & Son in this new GoW is a welcome feature I like here.

I was very skeptical of it last year, but this year's showing was great.

The trailer from last year E3 was horrible. The combat looked so dull. However, with this trailer, as we see more things, it actually looks pretty good.

I also like the remake they made to Kratos character, because the previous Kratos is my number one most hated character on gaming. The reboot's Kratos, has a potenial to be one of my favourite chatacter.

Day one buy.

The gameplay looks so clunky and unsatisfying. They some how came up with a combat engine even more shallow for God of War.

Really not a fan of the changes.

They took out the God of War from God of War.

Now, its just a cinematic action game with the God of War name.

Its the Wildlands of Tom Clancy games.

Im sure it will be a great game, but its not God of War.

I don't get the point of going with Viking mythology and sticking with Kratos. Kratos is an awful character, and why they wouldn't jump at the chance to ditch him for some badass viking instead is beyond me.

Like i said earlier, i think they just wanted to keep the name for brand recognition, but here (Like Wildlands) it seems to be hurting more than helping since people go in with certain expectations.

If this was a new IP i think people would be more excited for it.

I love the God of War series, but I am not convinced that this new gameplay direction is for the better. Just looking at it without any bias, it really doesn't look all that great and I am not super excited for it. I like the new tone and interactions between the characters, but the actual game part is worrying. Up close cameras for melee games are not very good. They are decent for shooters because you are generally focused on what you are shooting in front of you, but they are less than ideal for games where you have 360 degrees of enemies coming at you. The up close camera will require more camera movement as well to focus on enemies. This will bring down the game even more if it is only running at 30fps as the judder will be very distracting. The combat is also limited to more intimate encounters. Doesn't look like there will be crazy combos and air juggling like with the Blades of Chaos.

I'm not interested. The only good thing is the setting but the gameplay looks like shit.

I always thought the idea was to eventually have Kratos go toe to toe with other gods. I mean come'on man aren't you pumped for God of War 16 where you get to unlock the Spear of Destiny and throw it into the Judaeo Christian's God's eye?

When the characters don't speak, it actually seems alright. It's like the Odyssey. But why couldn't they get some non-American voice actors?

I have mixed feelings. On the one hand I'm really impressed that Sony took such a bold move with an established franchise. One thing is changing story or main characters but a whole gameplay change? That's pretty risky. But then again that's why Sony's first party is so good, they take risks and have the talent to make it through. On the other hand I really liked the traditional GOW so I'm not sure how this change will fair, the combat seems ok although a bit stiff for my liking and the kids seems to get in the way. Hopefully it turns out great though.

Can't wait for this. So glad they are going in a new direction and I anticipate how the incorporate all the Norse gods.

This is the kind of quality the X is missing.

Maybe it's just me but I kinda agree with PurpleMan5000 on this whole Norse Mythology. I wanted to go with Egyptian Mythology, not Norse. I wanna see Kratos fight against Ra but if they are gonna do Norse, at least give me the honor of taking on Thor & Loki.

I would have preferred Egypt myself as well but I can deal with Norse instead. Who's to say you won't be taking out Thor & Loki in this title and ending Odin's reign in the next?

My opinion of this game has taken a 180. It looks kind of good.

I bet this game will have some stealth elements / stealth sections, because it isn't a cinematic game by Sony if it doesn't feature some kind of poor stealth elements.

Crazy the devs said this was running on an OG PS4 and not a Pro, and it still looks this amazing. Pro version will probably make eyeballs melt.

Graphics look insane, (durr it's a GoW game.)

But what gameplay they did show doesn't do anything for me. Seems they recognized that their previous battle system was a bit mediocre, but instead of addressing its issues, they threw the baby out with the bathwater.

Personally, it wasn't a matter of franchise fatigue, they just needed to tighten up their combat. Oh well.

I'm just worried that this cinematic shit is going to bombard the gameplay like almost all of Sony's third person games. God of War is a game franchise that is almost entirely about its gameplay, this looks like that is going to largely be sacrificed to tell some endearing sob story like the rest of them.

I swear Sony's movie division was merged with PlayStation.

I love movie games. I dunno what's up with people on this forum and their hate for movie games.

Good narration with good gameplay is always awesome IMO and from the sales of Sony's games this gen it seems a lot of gamers love them.

Some of us still like the actual playing it part of a video game.

Average or worse gameplay wrapped up in stellar production values and a lulzy narrative doesn't get me hard, but whatever floats your boat man. Obviously a lot people like that shit.

And sure, it's not like you can't have an excellent game with cinematic qualities. But that's rarely the case with Sony, and based on what we've seen, I highly doubt that will be the case with this new GoW.

How about devs work on perfecting gameplay and leave the movie part for the cinema experts?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love a game with a good story, but gameplay should be the priority, once you're sure about the gameplay you can work on the story.

After all, cinema offers a way better experience as far as narrative and story goes.

Will purchase this game, I've been waiting for a new GOW for a couple of years.

It becomes a bad thing when it's the embodiment of almost everything you release, these independent identities that games have start to get lost and blur lines with other games and it becomes a meld of sameness.

I'm not saying you can't like that, but too much of something is never good.
