You're literally the only person who even thinks this is a problem. It's frankly the dumbest complaint I've ever heard about this game. I even agree with the people who say it's more boring than the old games. Or that Kratos' son is annoying and sometimes useless. Or even that the storyline feels like a stupid reason to bring Kratos back from retirement. But the camera?? Really???

Then you tell me you can't handle following simple arrows or moving the camera around yourself with the 2nd joystick. You don't have to love a game to defend it. Especially when you see someone trying to point out something that was never an actual issue.

The more we talk about the camera the more extreme your response get. The very existence of the arrows is because of the camera's shortcoming but here you are trying to act as if my statements aren't true. You are simply unable to handle a view that you do not share but instead of behaving civil your immediate reaction is hostility. It doesn't matter what you think of my impression it doesn't make it any less valid no matter how much you rant and rave.

Killed the final valkyrie yesterday. She was kicking my butt for a week!

Genuinely a pain in the d*ck. Every Valkyrie is far easier than her. I haven't beaten her yet.

Pro Tip, Light all the Brazers in midgard. You get something to help fight her. I discovered it after the fact and was extremely pissed.

Beat her last night and I'm level 5! Took about 6 tries but eventually everything lined up for me and I beat her. I like using the Blades of Chaos just for medium range attacks. Always dodge right, and only drop your shield when attacking. Be patient and never press the action. She will always be vulnerable to a few good hits after all her attacks. Try leveling up your gear if you haven't. I also had a lot of stuff on my weapons/armor that gave me a chance to make my attacks a lot more powerful. Best times to attack are after you dodge a Valhalla strike, after she tries to fly at you 1-3 times, when she pulls her shield up, or after you dodge the unblockable lunge attack which she will do after her two hit combo or after dashing to the side from a distance. When she flies up in the air be ready to shoot her with Atreus to stop the fog or shockwave attacks.

The key is to NOT be on the defensive, be prepared to react or act. Hel's Touch is useful for the Valkyrie fights, also upgrading the Talisman that lets you slow time was the best Talisman in the game for me. (Bayonetta slowdown dodge style)

All great points. I failed many times because my playstyle is super aggressive. I also used the time slowing talisman. Life saver. I also used the Gift of Helios blade runic attack. Heals you as you land hits.

Homeboy up there needs to relax. I can see someone not liking the camera being stuck to Kratos' buttocks. All up in his hole of war.

I just got this a few days ago. Regular PS4 with HDR looks bonkers (can’t inagine what it’d look like with the PS4 pro). My only issue with this is “muscle memory” each time I see Keaton’s on screen my fingers instinctively push square and circle instead of R1 or R2, guess it’ll go away eventually but I have been killed more than once this way.

Thought about replaying the game. Then I remembered Balrog's one-shot meme. Nevermind.

@freedomfreak: I went back to start getting the best gear to finish the val's. Lost interest farming the mist shards. I think the pacing was off and I should have had to have the best gear to finish the game.

After taking a break from the game and playing gow3 remastered and bloodborn, the combat feels real clunky till you get used to it.

Also after seeing the level.design, set pieces and boss battles on gow3. Gow4 is missing so much. Seriously who here actually cared about the main boss in this game? Every encounter with him was boring and I count wait to get it over with. The dragon boss was the only decent one in the game but even that was dumbed down.

Gaming and what has considered great these days just doesn't seem to fit my tastes anymore. Botw was one of the most boring games I have played this gen yet is regarded as one of the best.

The hype train / group think is a very powerful thing. Gaming along with other entertainment is devoid of individual thought. People are more interested in being up to date with what's trending than forming their own opinion on anything. Reviews as of late are becoming nothing more than copy and paste of every other review on the net. I have also found it hard to get details of a game's gameplay mechanic. More time is spent on the graphics, how it makes the player feel and story rather than how the game actually plays.

I normally can play a big game and get the hype. I think BOTW earned its hype. GOW is a 7-8/10 for sure. I swear to the gods, did they really think fighting the Troll ten times would be fun? And you're right about the final boss, it's tedious, and not fun to fight at all. Also, I thought there would be a big twist with the mom's ashes...nothing....there are few surprises outside of the return of a certain weapon.

Most of the boss fights are tedious and monotonous. With that said I didn't mind the trolls as much as others. However, the two options realms destroyed the pacing in the game.

I tried to like Botw, I played enough to get enough hearts to get the master sword and beat 2 temples. The shrines are so boring. It was a big empty world. I just lost interest.

If we all think video games are a bit overrated. BOTW will be like 90 and GOW will be a 80-85 game talking metacritic wise. None of this 97, 94 shit. BOTW brilliant GOW great. All games are overrated and GOW also deserves hype and all that shit. Especially for people who were fatigue by its former self. GOW achieves what I wanted from this new version. Its failings are while trying to do things different it still tries to gain some of the old games back in not so brilliant way. The dragon fight was stupid because it was trying to call back that stupid enemy outside the arena and only exposing limbs in timely way for you to whack a way shit. That stuff was cool especially when the arena was on the back of a giant. It was cool then from cinematic look but it got old. The main boss battle could have been brilliant if it did not do the old games cinematic interrupts before you actually finish the boss. That boss had all the ingredients to be brilliant if was like the Valkyrie fights. Leave the inturupts for when you have completely beaten the boss. His state changes forcing to switch weapons was great till the game interrupts you classic GOW style but without the full on coordinated QTE. The trolls recycle which happens to all games including BOTW was actually good to fight. The fights with lower enemies was more fun and the strength for the game. The fight with other bosses and end game was great. The two Gwendel whatever there called had great some sort of life sharing puzzle mechanic especially at the difficult level. The game just needed to completely ditch the classic GOW. The normal fights and just str8 up fights were better then the classics games. Reminding me of the hercules boxing like fight in the old GOW. This is what I like most in games today.

Its a great game, designed around great combat that gets better and better as you find runes, talisman, and you upgrade skills. The way you go about finding those stuff also done well, makes you work for them. Sure it does not deliver the boss high going from GOW 1 to 3 but its a much much better base. Importantly its also different enough at this point of the series something different is better. I'm enjoying the combat in the hardest difficult mode and immersive mode. I wish it had NG+ it really needs it for the type of game it is. The story was simple self contained and told better then most. Its a great game for the year so far. All these games get crazy hype IMO GOW not perfect as with any other game but is not too shabby.

@ellos: I don't see it that way at all. Gow4 doesn't look feel or play anything like gow. Kratos is not kratos. They should have just made it a new ip but they wanted to make sales with the gow name.

Playing gow3 right after I finished gow4 showed me how much they cheesed on everything. Boss battles level design weapon variety. You may have hated the old god of war formula so maybe you just hated gow. Gow4 is not a gow game. It feels to similar to to many other games to be it's own game.

As I said for me it being different from the old games is a plus. I did not want to play the same GOW games anymore. I thought they were good games. I personally really liked 2. They were better hack and slash games I liked and fatigue was kicking in from the GOW formula. They were becoming about boss cinematic spectacle than evolving interesting combat design. So what your saying is a complement for the new game for me and its something that they were going for. The issues that i had was them going to the checklist of old games and trying to capture what the old games had. I said the main boss dude fight could have been great if they just let me continue to fight. None of that past cinematic interrupts. Just leave the fight like the Valkyrie fights especially when the boss was mixing things up. There is a great combat design continuing to challenge it rather then interrupting it. Something that normal enemies and other boss did so well. Less spectacle and more tactical combat chess if you will. That and the finishing cinematic moves were a checklist that was not needed for this new game. It just invite a sceptical comparison rather than how different and interesting combat design is.

Its perfectly fine for you to feel that way and your not the only one. They should have perhaps frame this into a brand new game or a different character. However the GOW connection makes things very interesting from story and theories perspective. A different take of GOW is a welcome for me personally I like the premise of it. Ascension did not do that well also so somebody had to fight to keep continuity with the GOW name and Kratos. Very interesting new beginnings for me.

@ellos: sounds like you want a dark souls game with a gow skin on it. To be honest I am sick of the dark souls formula, to me its.more played out then gow was. I am having a hard time getting into bloodborne because it's just a reskinned dark souls.

I glad they decided to totally change gow. Im just not happy with how they did it. It's not unique at all. It copies way to.many games.and comes.off feeling been there done that.

Bloodborne is one of my favourite game this gen so maybe there is some of that. I do not think the two games are alike at all though. I prefer this change and feel like there is a lot of upside to the series now.

@makemefamous07: The more I think about the game the more I dislike it. I went back and played gow3 remastered after I finished gow4, haven't played it since it released.

I was more glued to that game then I ever was to gow4 it was a slog. Your right kratos feel a like a slow ass tank and it is unbearable before u get used to it. I think it was a step back for the series. Gow is dead.

Also agree with all of your points. I posted the exact same complaints earlier in the thread. This is usual over hyped garbage and a few months from now more and more people will see it the same. Everyone always gets blinded by the honeymoon period and won't say how it really is.

Well folks, I finally completed the game yesterday and it's time to give my final post here. (unless reply)

The game was awesome, I feel like the concept of changing a few things to it doesn't stand with a realistic approach to what development means. For what it is, a somewhat reboot of the series, with Kratos more mature and Human, more interesting world, fleshed out characters and simply amazing combat. It's a masterpiece. A PS4 exclusive that is really really good. Goes along side to Bloodborne.

I would give it a 8/10, so we'll round up. It has some good parts, some not so good parts, and ultimately it is a great game, though I wouldn't put it in my all time greats. As a Dad who has a 10 year old daughter (soon to be 11) I can understand where Kratos is coming from as a Father he is, it's why this game never bother me on Atreus attitude and self-confidence, he acts like my daughter at time lol. I plan to replay this game but I'm waiting for "New Game+" to be added since Santa Monica stated they'll consider it.

So yeah, I truly hope Santa Monica in the future takes this series into Egyptian Gods setting and I hardly know anything on Egyptian Gods other then Ra, I'm looking forward to whatever Santa Monica does from here.

@Heil68: this thread would have more responses if the site wasn't dead. Most people left along time ago.

Going back and replaying the game on a higher difficulty is actually making it more fun for me. Balanced mode was to easy and I didn't really need my upgrades and moves asap as I do now in give me a challenge.

Not going to try gmgow challenge is hard but still fun I could see myself.smashing a controller in gmgow

@Advid-Gamer: I gave up on hard mode because I died a lot on the first fight, I found it harder than bloodborne

LOL it's best you don't try to take on the Valkyries then.

Those things are a serious pain in the butt. Especially the last one.

I always play my games on Normal. Taking on the Valkyries in Normal can be a freaking challenge. You can always change the setting to Easy mode, you won't get no penalty for doing that if you're a Trophy hunter gamer that is. The Queen is the real nightmare throughout the game.

@davillain-: well, if they're not that hard, I might not turn the difficulty down, I'll see when I get there.

I always play my games on normal too.

@Zero_epyon: Before taking on the Queen, the Valkyrie Rota was the hardest for me. Valhalla stomp, that damn stomp does so much damage, I had a hard time dodging until I got better of doing it. But I gotta admit, I'm glad I learned from her, dodging at the right time is how I bested the Queen.

Damn stomping was the worst. Especially since sometimes it was one dive and sometimes it was three.

At what level did you start taking on the Valkyrie.. I want to fight them before I finish the last boss. I'm at the point that I just flip over the temple..
