Plus Disney said they would outsource some games related to Star Wars, so it is quite possible that if a studio really wants to develop a Star Wars game, Disney would let them do it.

Didn't know that... Interesting.

I'd actually rather they do stuff on their own. I liked Alpha Protocol a lot, so much of that game is funny. If they had more time to work on it, I'm sure the Madison mission and endings would've been much better. And the combat felt odd but I still liked it. But the main reason I loved it was that there was so much hilarious dialogue. I don't see that happening with a star wars game.
[QUOTE="PannicAtack"] Kotor 1 does have one of the most memorable plot twists I've ever seen in a video game, yeah.lundy86_4
I honestly can't think of anything, in this gen, that matched that twist.
I'd rank the twists in Spec Ops: The Line and To the Moon fairly highly.[QUOTE="PannicAtack"]Given that it was very nearly superior to the game it was a sequel to? Yeah, I'd say so.Slow_Show
That's debatable (the high points may have been better, but the amount of content that failed to make it into the game really hurt the overall game flow and story), and it was sure as hell buggier than the original. The point being that considering how quickly Obsidian fans are willing to shift blame for all the developers' failings to publisher interference, the fact Obsidian is talking about shacking up with LucasArts again kinda raises some questions (to say the least).
Have you played it with the RCM? Because you should. It really fixes all of the issues with the game. As for the Obsidian/LucasArts thing... it was kinda LucasArts' fault. And I guess they just really wanted to work on Star Wars again?[QUOTE="lundy86_4"]

Never tried RCM, and the final parts of KOTOR 2 are definitely the most lacking ones!

Yes. It doesn't completely change 'em, but it builds on them in pretty significant ways and adds a lot to them.[QUOTE="crimsonman1245"]They probably already spent their Kickstarter money on drugs and hookers. Just bought To the Moon... Feels prepared.
That's nice, hope you like it... just don't expect much (if anything) in the way of gameplay, the game is basically a visual novel...
And hope you don't end up getting bothered by the banter between doctors (you'll know what I mean when you start), some find it awkward and out of place, but I actually thought it balances out the storyline, it it wasn't there, the story might've felt forced and too serious for its own good.

Yeah, I pretty much knew it was essentially a VN from a while back. Largely why I held off. I heard it's great though.
I'll see what you mean soon :P

Obsidian and Star Wars? Match made in heaven.
What I would love is if Obsidian developed Battlefront 3. They've already shown they can take over franchises and actually make them just as good if not better, ie. KOTOR 2, FO:NV.

Man, I'd love this. KOTOR1 is great but the Obsidian sequel blew out of the water even with all of the bugs, crashes, and axed content. I haven't read the comics and novels, but it's the best representation of the Sith/Jedi divergence that I've ever seen. I'd love to see them get another crack at it.
The only way a better SW game could be made is if Obsidian got the contract and then said, "we're making all of the RPG stuff but we're partnering with Itagaki or Kamiya to handle all lightsaber combat."
Godsidion? I have yet to play some amazing game they made that was not fallout 3 in las vegasredskins26rocs
First off Fallout3 felt NOTHING like Fallout, Fallout New Vegas though felt alot like the old fallout games, MUCH better in every aspects besides the radio stations imo.
- Neverwinter Nights 2 - Great D+D game that has 3 expansion packs and some of the best mods around (Thousands of user made CAMPAIGNS, including someone remaking the whole ICEWIND DALE RPG in NWN2 engine with the mod tools). Better that what Bioware did with NWN1 imo (which i also liked just not as much). Not to mention Mask of The Betrayer expansion is one of the best rpgs ever and one of the best expansion packs ever, so well writen and jsut a wonderful rpg to play. Most find Mask Of The Betrayer to be Obsidians best work.
- KOTOR 2 - Fantastic and imo better than the first one was (better dialogue, story and characters)
- Alpha Protocol - Up there as the msot underrated game this gen for me
Then you can also go far back and play some of the games that current Obsidian memebers worked on before (Fallout2, Planscape Torment,Icewind Dale, Icewind Dale 2, etc..). Check out the games that the founding Obsidian officers have made in the past (Chris Avellone, Feargus Urquhart, Chris Parker, Darren Monanan and Chris Jones). Also see Black Isle Studios old games.
They also have South Park RPG coming out, along with Project Eternity rpg coming out.

Well the only two games this gen that ahve brought me to tears was To The Moon and The Walking Dead (Telltale).
Not really the same games but both are more about characters/story and bringing out emotions then it is about crazy gameplay,etc..
Not to many games like To The Moon out there! Be on the look out for the new To The Moon game though, its pretty far into development now (there is a music theme and I liek 3-4 screenshots that ahve been released).
I find Star Wars stories to generally be terrible, but Obsidian makes awesome stories and characters, so it could be cool.
Luckily this time they won't have to build off of a bad game that Bioware made.

I loved New Vegas, but KOTOR 2 was completely unfinished... I am cautiously optimistic about this.

LucasArts forced KotoR 2 out the door for a holiday release. You can get the unifnished content enabled with a small mod
There's always an excuse for Obsidian's unfinished games. The thing with Obsidian is, they never had good production management in the first place, which is why they've always had trouble with multiple publishers.
In any business, especially creative, production management rules everything. Doesn't matter if you're a visionar y director, amazing musician, or talented video game developer, your work will go to the dogs if you can't manage time wisely. An even worse example of mismanagement is Silicon Knights.
To put it bluntly, Chris Parker needs to remove himself from the senior producer/CDO role at Obsidian. He's never proven to have his sh!t sorted in the management position.
Awesome if it happens and as an Obsidian and SW fan it'd be a day 1 buy, but, basing it between Ep3 and Ep4 kind've irks me as we know our characters are doomed from the outset considering there is only 2 Jedi (and 2 force sensitive twins) remaining when Ep4 takes place.
But meh, still a good 20 or so years on not so certain time to base a kick ass game around.
i wouldnt mind if it takes place between 3 and 4. a kotor sequel is kinda ruined unless they retcon the revan book and the old republic
Finish Project Eternity first and the Stick of Truth. Then we'll talk Obsidian Star Wars RPGFrozenLiquid
It's a bit worrying them trying to tackle 3 projects when they rarely can even tackle 1.

Stick of Truth is, I would guess, largely done (it was supposed to release in march before THQ went under), Eternity is probably in pre-production at this point, and the Star Wars RPG exists as a pitch. I don't see them trying to tackle three projects at once yet. But I don't have inside info or anything, so it's all guesswork at this point.[QUOTE="OB-47"][QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"]Finish Project Eternity first and the Stick of Truth. Well, let's hope they get a chance to do that. If they don't deliver with Eternity, they'lll have no one to blame but themselves as it was crowd-funded and Obsidian seems to be going for something that is fairly retro in design. So there's no publisher leaning over their shoulder, no crazy deadlines, and they can do whatever they want in terms of programming. It'll be interesting to see what happens with that project. Please Log In to post.
