Anyone please correct me if im wrong.

Nintendo OWNS Goldeneye... they have the rights to it. They payed Rare to Dev it.

Nintendo can do anything it wants with that code (game). they do not need any permission from the current Bond license owner for a game they own.

Rare is entitled to REMAKE their games like conker on xbox... but they cant do that with Goldeneye without the Bond License.

So why does Nintendo need to work something out with MS/Rare to get Goldeneye on VC? Does that fact that they would have to modify the code to make it work on the Wii have anything to do with it?>

Relys

Nintendo doesn't own ****. The Bond licence is being currently buggered by EA. I'm pretty sure Rare still owns the rights to it's own game.

Nintendo has Publishing rights, and also Activision has the Bond Licence they took over it last year and they are currently making there first game.

**** that man that is BS, Nintendo is being stubborn because their games are lousy and they know MS will make so much off a game that was only on the n 64FreewayScruff

As somebody already said, 2007 game of the year.. Not to mention 2002 (Metroid Prime (Publisher - Nintendo, as well as strong involvement)) and 2003 GOTY: Legend of Zelda TWW...

Not to mention the 3 highest rated games of ALL TIME.. Ocarina of Time, Mario Galaxy & Metroid Prime...

How are Nintendo's games "lousy"? :| That makes absolutely no sense - even the biggest Wii-haters will tell you how stupid that is...

Unfortunately, you are incorrect. Nintendo published Goldeneye 64 - thus they have "publishing rights".

It's Nintendo all right... I bet Ninty want residuals for each game sold on XBLA instead of a one time licensing fee.... Microsoft ain't having that(and neither would I). Nintendo is being the greedy one now.... Just take the money and shut up..

any other company would do the same thing as nintendo. why shouldn't they want to profit off a great game that was originally on their system?

Mmm i thought it was still coming, just delayed because they can't put a $ on the deal to get it on xbla,i'm guessing this rules out banjo kazooie too, although banjo uses all of rare's own characters,so it has more of a chance going on xbla. *fingers crossed*

Having the Licence to a franchise doesn't give you the rights to a previously released game..

GS: I mentioned Killer Instinct — a lot of people are hoping that you guys are going to do that again. I thought it would be very difficult since you're Microsoft-owned, but if you do have that relationship, then on the handheld page…

JT: The thing is, when we were working with Nintendo, there were some properties that were ours — and are ours, furthermore. Banjo is a great example. Banjo is all ours, although potentially Nintendo could release the old games for the Virtual Console on the Wii. Any future ventures would be from Rare on whatever format we're working on. It's a pretty even split. Obviously they didn't give us Donkey Kong. I don't know why. (laughs)

Any old game by Rare Nintendo can put on the VC.

I'm more inclined to think that money was not the "cause" but more like the "excuse" to not letting the game go to a microsoft platform.

blaming Nintendo for this is like blaming Immersion for why the ps3 didn't have rumble. if they really want it they have to pay the price that the owners ask for.

Wow why is Nintendo geting all the blame here, both M$ and Nintendo are at blame here, they couldent agree so they just trashed the game and we get the S*** end of the stick here. Are Lemmings that blind they can't blame M$ for nothing.

Oh and the guy saying Nintendo trashed Halo DS, are you going to give us a link because I never heard anything about that, and until you do i'm calling BS on you.

LOL. I think I was right.......

Microsoft says cancelling of Goldeneye XBLA was completely Nintendo's fault

When we talked about this story last week, we heard that Microsoft and Nintendo couldn't agree on how Nintendo should be paid for the XBLA release. Today, sources within Microsoft are saying that Satoru Iwata is to blame.

According to their story, Mr. Iwata turned down the idea of putting Goldeneye on XBLA. He didn't think that a title released on the N64 should see release on another platform. The story even goes on to say that the deal was going to include a VC release of Goldeneye, as well as some other Rare titles. If all this is true, I think Iwata was being a bit too stubborn for everyone's good.

XBLA would have gotten Goldeneye, we would have gotten Goldeneye and other Rare titles. How is this deal bad for Nintendo? Once again, this is just a rumor for now.

Way to go Nintendo! Retain your honor!
