I love the idea of game streaming, but they have to fix provider speeds first, no way I could play games with the connection Comcast gives me. It's only going to get more ridiculous without net neutrality.

I can't begin to describe my loathing for Comcast's service. Because they are a borderline monopoly in many parts of the US, I've had the displeasure of needing to use them continually for over a decade in the Northeast, the West coast, and the Southeast, and I have never received remotely the speed or reliability I pay for. They blame my routers, my computers, my consoles - but refuse to bring their own routers by to demonstrate that being at fault. 3 expensive cable modems from their recommended list later, and nothing's changed. It's shit

Streaming is the future of console gaming. As console hardware becomes comparatively weaker each generation compared to PC, it doesn't make sense to release dedicated console hardware anymore. Manufacturing a decent console is just too expensive. The only way to come out with a financially competitive offering is to cut corners, but then you get potatoes like the PS4 and X1.

By 2030, maybe, but definitely not within the next 3 or so years when PS5 and Xbox Next launch. They will no doubt be conventional dedicated consoles.

As for Google making another streaming device "game console", yeah right, no thanks.

Instant fail.

In the country i reside in, everybody streams everything. Physical has been dead already for a a while.

This would fit in perfectly fine.

Maybe they target it for japan/western europe mainly.

Gamegle - soon followed by Gamazon or whatever. I guess its inevitable that some kind of streaming service will arrive, I just don't think it'll have the appeal that traditional gaming devices have for many (at least not for a fair while). Saying that it could be good for retro gaming maybe, I think, perhaps, etc.

Gamazon sounds like a villain in a Godzilla movie lol

It's funny that everyone is strictly focusing on the streaming service considering it doesn't have to be the only content delivery vehicle for a console. The hardware specs are completely unknown, but it looks like it started out as an additional feature they were going to add on pre-existing devices but is now stand-alone. That alone should mean there is a probability that it plays games stand-alone.

I can't see streaming consoles replacing traditional dedicated consoles for a very, very long time. Many gamers are going to resist going 100% streaming and any console maker that attempts a streaming only console is going to fail and receive tons of backlash.

And the day that my only option for playing new games is through streaming, is the day that I quit playing new games and just focus on all of my retro consoles.

@luxuryheart: How can you be objective with sales if you dont even know what xbox sales are, since they dont release them? You claim it's "flopping," there are many indications that its not. However, without sales numbers its hard to come to the conclusion that it is. As for Nintendo, they are simply in a league of their own and really are not a direct competitor to XB like PS4. I may get one someday just Zelda, but nothing else appeals.

You know by cows logic the greatest gaming platform of all time should be an android phone. It has the most exclusives. Although, I can see how you're inclined to think XB is flopping. You are posting within the releam of the pioneers of the XB hate club. You know it's something like this: if your a fan of CNN your probably anti-Trump or if your a fan of Fox you probably pro-Trump. Seeing how your tout around anti-XB jargon as fact leads me to believe you take everything you read in SW and on this site as gospel truth. You need to step outside this little box and discover the big picture on your own, good luck

Of course Microsoft won't show their sales, you only show the best part. It's business 101. The only different one is Nintendo since they even showed the flop sales of the Wii U. Disclaimer: I like my Wii U and had a fantastic time with it, but I can still call it a flop because it was.

It depends on the quality of games and the ones you like. I do like phone games a lot. It's simple fun that you can have for free. I also like internet games.

Not the biggest fan of CNN. I just watch the local news and get the national and international news on the Internet. I'm also anti-Trump which is justifiable since he's racist, sexist, and an incompetent idiot.

Why would google make a console to stream games? Why wouldn't they just stream them off their website under a game section? Wouldn't that make the most sense?

Then do what netflix does and throw their service on every device that exists. Why risk making their own console?

That's what I've been saying. It was even beta tested off of a device they already have out in tons of homes, but they went the route of making some kind of dedicated hardware. It sounds to me like it's not a streaming only platform.

Streaming games? Low bit-rates? No crisp textures? No BUENO

Also Google? A console that spies on you and has an Orwellian SJW culture.
