Yep, Google Stadia launches on November 19th 2019 and how it will fair remains to be seen. I'm not looking forward to this whole dystopia game streaming but it's going to happened, it's not a "if" but when? For those who will pick up Stadia, hope it meets your expectations.

I’ll most definitely be passing on this myself. I greatly prefer having the actual hardware to play my games on as well as having my games on a physical format. I’ll get digital versions of games if I really have to but streaming games is something that is at the very bottom of my options list.

I can't see this doing anything it might get an initial crowd who pick it up. But long term there needs to be a few exclusives and a decent price point.

They have a track record of starting and ending interest quick. If this don't work within a year or so they will just pull it off the market.

I'm not a huge fan of streaming and subscriptions so this is a big no-no for me.

It's not our internet that is the problem, it's their services that always go down, yet they rely on us to be always connected...

It's basically the exact same concept. Pay a monthly fee for streaming games, with nothing on your computer. The big difference now is that internet in the U.S has improved enough to make it more viable, although there are still significant quality drops even on broadband with Stadia. Latency will be the biggest issue. I'll be surprised if anything other than turn-based games are playable.

I think it's too early for me to say at this point. What games will it have? Will it have any decent exclusives?

Also I'm waiting on PS5, Xbox and Nintendo's entry into the next gen. If PS5 is fully backwards compatible as rumored then that may be the direction I go into. I'd definitely wait later in the console's life to onboard.

If Stadia or PS Now provide access to specific games that come out without the need of hardware they may serve as a stop gap

So for someone who hasn't been following the Stadia, is this a purely streaming machine? I know it's supposed to have a customized Vega 56 gpu, which though not top tier, is still a big beefy video card, and way overkill for a stream-only console.

Even though I don't support this business model I will pick one up just to see what's up.. lol. I highly likely wont buy anything (or much) on it just like my Shield though. I'm just curious to see what's up. I mean I do have an Ouya, Shield, and all that other stuff, so... why not.. lol.

I am actually not expecting much either way, and am actually still more excited about the new Atari system that may never even see the light of day at this point.

Good luck to anyone with a data cap. Fortunately, I have a 1gig connection with unlimited, but that unlimited will always come with an asterisk attached. I use roughly a TB a month on my connection.

Its funny how a gaming option that has no effect on current gamers' experiences is hated on so much. Did PS-Now receive this much hate on inception? Its my understanding that if you are not interested in the service you can continue your life as usual. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just want to know how about their predictive thing to reduce input lag. See how well it works for SP since many MP games already do it.

Not in my case but I don't have 1gig. Used over 2tb before in a month and no throttle.

Yeah but its the idiots who take to this garbage that are the ones who ruin it for the rest of us. If this is a success you can bet your arse others will be quick to fast track their streaming shit.

So yes it will have an effect on current gamers sooner rather than later. Wake up pedro.

This post is going towards Pedro. While Stadia may not have a direct impact on current-gen, if Stadia becomes a successful in the long run, other game developers/publishers will soon follow. Why do you think MS (and possibly Sony) are also pushing this streaming service? I understand it's easy to make money and just about everyone in the game industry is trying so hard to leave physical media. It's true that I went fully digital, it's easier to purchase my games and not have to drive into Gamestop is a nice bonus but streaming your games is on a different level compare to digital. I'm with everyone here, I want Stadia to failed so hard, MS and many more would look somewhere else cause no one isn't ready for streaming. I know it's still going to happened in the distance future but not here and now.

Streaming movies is one thing, but games aren't.

That would be a gaming nightmare. Especially since two of the strongest console competitors have their own streaming service. I can imagine Sony and Microsoft thinking: "Hey, we've got a streaming service too! Let's just make our next console all about that!"

That's the last thing we need. Right now, it's okay, as long as not enough people are paying attention to streaming. It can stay niche.

@npiet1: Haha, yeah I obviously can't speak for every ISP... No doubt some are truly unlimited. Cogeco have never done anything to me, but I believe their soft-cap used to be 1TB, and they had something in the contract about their "unlimited" plan.

As someone who isn't good at choosing new hardware, I'm interested to see how its received.

If it means that I can play a game at higher settings and with minimal lag, then it could be good.

I always find this excuse piss weak, I mean do you not ever leave your house? you need to go outside get a job, visit shops, contribute to the human race rather than hiding from it.

And if gamers take to this like flies on shit then it would affect gamers in this current gen, as MS/Sony can still introduce a streaming option this gen.

It would only be our future if we continue to support it. But if developers see that the audience strongly refuses to pay for it then they have no choice but to seek another alternative.

I'm laughing at the fact that PC gamers with their big and bad overclocked energy-hog machines will now be competing for market-share with a platform that doesn't even require hardware.

20 years from now we'll have holograms like Star Trek run on wrist-watches and PC gamers will still be chained to a 50 pound iron box in their mom's basement.

This is the tribe that technology forgot.

Update

I have a founders edition coming on launch day. For $130 I figured I would check it out... It was worth that for my curiosity alone.. Even though it is counterintuitive for me to buy one and support something I don't support... lol. Oh well. I asked my wife if we could get one, and she said sure no problem, without any questions or anything, so I didn't question it back.. lol

The only good thing about this is it's Linux based, meaning we might get these games on Linux native now.
