Google Stadia gets it's release date and coming sooner then expected!

So, people wanting something you don't like are idiots? Seems to me that you are just trapped like many others in the past and truly believe that gaming should revolve around your beliefs. Wake up IP, gaming is changing and streaming is here to stay. If you don't like it or want it you can continue gaming in the same manner that you are currently. Streaming is not going to kill digital downloads or "physical" copies of games.

Did anyone here even tried to stream at home to see the end result? Let's forget about various internet speeds/data caps for a minute. Results? It largely depends on the quality of your display.

If you've got one of these cheap 4K "wannabe HDR" TV's (majority of market), or use a small and/or sub-4K screens such as laptop/tablet/phone... you can hardly see a difference (streaming set to 4K@60/100Mbit/HEVC in all "tests"). However, the better and larger your display is, the worse it gets. Basically, the worst thing about all this shit is the compression. On the largest/best display i have at home (75", 4K, HDR peaking at ~1000 nits) was a blurry, washed out mess...
If this is the "future" i want to be stuck in the "past".

As for complaining about digital, well its not complaining when digital is more expensive over physical here, and physical allows you to resell or trade in and get money off of another game. I've always said that, but for you its complaining, for us in Australia its a reality, and our net is not the best either so Stadia is pointless here, again reality here in Australia.

That is our reality pedro, so pull your head from your arse and realise this Stadia won't work the world over for a long time, and judging from this thread its off to a rough start, but hey you enjoy it.

I'll be interested to see how this sells and what package people are subscribing to. It doesn't seem to of value to me as I like to own the physical.

I plan on getting it because I like the idea of switching games so effortlessly and being able to play games in multiple places.

I have a Stadia thingy on order as a curiosity.

While I don't plan on using it seriously for playing games, I do see some advantages it has over traditional gaming. I'm talking about online multiplayer experiences bypassing the standard client-server relationship. Google is right, there is the potential for scale that's just not there when you have to sync up a bunch of clients.

Contrary to the response on this forum (I know you guys hate change), I bet this will be pretty popular among younger people if they can get a free or low-cost subscription version out.

It's not that I'm up for change, it's the fact some of us think it will ditch dedicated physical gaming by all means but even I know better this won't happened (yet in the distance future) in our time. As long as game streaming remains optional, I won't make such a fuss over it. Remember PSN was down for months? That's the kind of outcome should Stadia face when their servers are down on their end. Hope you enjoy your Stadia purchase :)

For some reasons, I sometimes think my daughter will be the last generation to experience physical gaming and despite I already embrace digital gaming, streaming isn't the same as digital and that's as close as I'll come.

As for no one giving a **** about the internet speeds in Australia, well everyone here does, and so should Google if it wants to succeed here, and they are not launching it here because the net is not up to scratch.

I'm actually rooting for this. I wouldn't mind freeing myself from a piece of hardware all together and play anywhere on any device. I even like the whole YouTube play thing. I think a ton rests in execution though and that remains to be seen.

Not interested. VR has more chance of becoming enticing than streaming. Yet both are years off being acceptable.
