GOTY 2008 situation is going to repeat GOTY 2007...ahahaa

I've seen three or four posts saying "SSBB is gonna be a contendor, but it can't win GOTY against Gears2, MGS4, Ninja Gaiden 2, GTAIV, etc"

2007 was IDENCTICAL!

"SMG is gonna be a contendor, but it can't win GOTY against Assassin's Creed, Halo 3, Uncharted, Call of Duty 4, etc"

Guys look at the facts here. Every gaming site/magazine is absolutely raving about brawl. The scores so far (from the most credible of sources) are 9.5/10, 9.5/10, 9.3/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10.

FAMITSU gave brawl 10/10.....o.o....plus another 3 AAAA scores.

This game is apparently really good, and I'd hate to see you fanboys get severely owned by Nintendo like last year.

As much as I like SSB... Going up against Starcraft 2 AND Spore is rediculous.

Brawl may have been GotY ANY other year but going up against Blizzard when they are putting out a title that they have spent 10 years thinking about... Blizzard is normally an upper tier GotY contender and this game is getting more attention than any game they have previously made... Even more than WoW... Blizzard is treating this game like their biggest game ever. At that point, the odds are just stacked against you, they are steel reinforced and then bolted down against you...

And then... Add Spore to your list of competitors... An innovative game that encompasses nearly ever genre there is at some point in the progress of the game. And there has been only one type of reaction to it from everyone that has played it... And that is a unnanimous, "Wow... Holy crap, this game is great." Journalists have actually reported being disappointed every time they hear Spore isn't going to be shown at some big press event because they want to play it again so much.

Little Big Planet will get GOTY. Either that or Spore. nintendofreak_2

I'm hoping spore gets it. They worked on that game for the longest time so I'm hoping it payed off.

1) We're three months and eight days into 2008.

2) None of the PS3 Killer-Apps of 08 (MGS4, KZ2, etc.) have been revealed.

3) The 360 exclusives (Fable 2, Gears of War 2, Ninja Gaiden II) have not been revealed.

4) The Multi-Platform titles (GTAIV) have not been revealed.

5) 2008 isn't over, and it's far too early to judge.

Seriously, I think SSBB is awesome, but don't start off on how it will get GOTY. That's just stupid, considering it's the first top-notch game of 2008.

Yea, if I was a lemming, cow, or hermit, I'd be worried that GS is comparing SSBB to SMG like that. GTA4, and MSG4 and GeOW2 are guna have to bring it HARD now that SSBB has gotten this much praise from GS. Or GOTY might just go to the Wii in 2008.

I doubt those games were very mentiond in the same sentence as 'GOTY'. It was rather games such as Bioshock, Crysis, Mass Effect or The Orange Box.

Heck..Halo 3 was barely mentioned as well.
