[QUOTE="PC360Wii"]Oh you get to ask a few questions .... we had optional dialogue in Ocarina of time .... forcing you to say "yes" instead of no when asked to do something important, I dont expect anything more complex than either a) asking about something or b) what I just said. Theres always a story in zelda games ... and mario .... doesnt make them good...... and that brings me back to the kiddy simple crap. Theyre "ok" games .... but im done with them.... really nothing special except in my memory as a child. Except this game DOES have real dialog options, it has a first person mode, and as far as sheer game design goes, NOTHING comes close to Mario or Zelda. Prove it? where are these magical dialogue options that are deep or will effect the game? .... come on now we both know this wont happen. "Sheer game design" .... for kids.... such a subjective thing to say.[QUOTE="charizard1605"] Except this game DOES have a story, and even dialog options, apparently.charizard1605
OP I hate you!!! Zelda is one of the only 4 games I'm looking forward to this year and you just spoiled things in my face. I didn't stop to read but yes, the human mind can perceive things so quickly that a quick flash of information gets integrated into your brain and then you wonder... did i just read what i thought i read? Because you didn't stop just flashed it but.... i saw dungeon + not completing it + going back to. Damn you... give spoiler warning in the tittle =[
I still would like voice work for the series heck even link doesint have to talk if thats what it takes. It bugs me when character flap thier mouth and insted of words text pops up.It just look silly now and days.

8. No one dungeon can ever be completedin one go in this game. You start a dungeon, get inside it, reach a dead end, leave with whatever you found in the dungeon, go to another dungeon with your new item, get deeper inside it with the new item, find another new item, return to the first dungeon with the new item to get deeper. Sort of like Metroid Prime.

More like Metroid? Yes, please!
The more I hear about Skyward Sword, the more amazing it sounds.
That just sounds like a whole lot of back tracking.I won't say it is guranteeded GOTy but it certainly is a contender I think Uncharted 3 is the frontrunner at the moment.
miyamoto finally did his glorious first person zelda? lol. sorry shija, but no way in hell i'm playing it in first person :P point #3 made me lol hard  wait... is it for real? the voice acted girl? i don't really remember her saying anything in the one dialogue box of her i've seen. #8 reminds me a lot of a dungeon concept i had. now all it needs are multiple entrances and that "is this really a dungeon or just a bunch of puzzles thrown around in the overworld?" feel.BrunoBRS
Yeah neither do I, but maybe that one dialogue box of her that we have seen was before they adding in the voice acting?
What bugs me even more is when a game does have voice acting, and it's so terrible that it ruins the experience like Shadows of the Damned.I still would like voice work for the series heck even link doesint have to talk if thats what it takes. And it's supposed to take over 50 hours to complete, with the possibility of 100 hours or greater of content. That, to me, is amazing, ewpecially when you have game after game come out lasting only 5-8 hours. And with Nintendo's polish, I'd say it has the best shot at GOTY.
Any form of entertainment or art can have a kiddy exterior but deep inside have mature themes that an adult can enjoy. Zelda series is an example of this, a kiddy fairy tale like exterior but also with deeper, more mature themes that a child might not understand.
To look down on something because it is kiddy is signs of not only insecurity, but also lack of maturity.

could be, but i'd think they'd bring up the whole voice acting thing more :PSkyrim is 300+ hours so it wins by that logic. SOTD=bad voice acting.... does not compute. THe VO was well done imo.
So, for all of you who were wailing about The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword not changing the formula, here goes:
1. It is possible to play almost the entire game in first person mode. You can walk around in first person mode, interact with objects in first person mode, and more. (Kotaku)
2. There are dialog choices when you talk with anybody. (Destructoid)
3. Zelda is apparently Link's girlfriend in this game. There is one other character who has a huge crush on Zelda, so he tries to sabotage Link. He may end up selling out to the bad guys, and lead to the corruption of the Triforce of Power.
4. There are save points, specific save statues like Majora's Mask
5. Fi (your partner in this game) is voice acted. She is supposed to sound like GLaDOS.6. THE MUSIC
7. The game leads up to Ganondorf's rise, the populating of Hyrule, the first sealing away of the Triforce, the founding of the Sacred Realm, the forging of the Master Sword, and more
9. There is an upgrade system for all your equipment and gear in this game. At least six shields and four swords, along with three different kinds of tunics, are currently confirmed.
So, not only does this look like the definitive 3D Zelda game, it also seems to be mixing up the traditional gameplay and story formula very well.
And my hype for the game just shot through the stratosphere.
charizard1605
I'll get it on the Wii U when it comes out. Right now I have too many other games to buy, and I have a backlog. I want to save this game for when there's nothing else to play.
Nintendo is using some pretty cool techniques to get the most out of the Wii, like having distant islands and objects become detailed 2D paintings. Really the art style is pretty fantastic, it's just that some of the characters are a little iffy. *Debbie* is just cringe worthy, but I can get over that I suppose.

Well since that is kinda the purpose of the game. I mean that's like the whole marketing they're doing you'll die over and over again. Anyway I think I died alot more in Uncharted/time than in Demon's Souls, yet Demon's Souls took me like 60 hours.[QUOTE="Cheese-Muffins"][QUOTE="SquirrelTamer"] I think people say it'll take at least 4 times to as much time to beat it. Yeah I agree with you frankly I'm tired of everyone hyping the difficulty of this game, that's not why I enjoyed Demon's Souls at all. My point is that making you die alot of time is their goal and not an unintended side effect. And if it's done well there's nothing wrong with it, unlike games where you die alot of cheap deaths. Anyway as I said I don't think you'll die that many times. The reason it also takes alot of time is because it's a pretty big world and it's easy to get lost sometimes. Also related is that when you do die you have to start all over. So it's not so much about dying but about the result of dying. Also you have to take it slow. Running around careless and hack'n'slash will kill you instantly. So that's another reason. Not so much about complexity as it is how kiddish and easy Zelda/Mario are... I was fine when I was 6-15 years old.... now they feel like nothing at all =/[QUOTE="PC360Wii"][QUOTE="calvinsora"]

^This is really what it all boils down to. The game is intended for young children, as evidenced by its E (10 years or older) rating. Just think about that - the game literally has a target audience of ten years old.
Now lets look at an avid SS defender: ChubbyGuy40. There's a chance that the 40 at the end of his nic is his age. A 40 year old man is hyping a game intended for 10 year olds. I can't comment on that any further due to the overly strict ToS at this site, but it doesn't take much imagination to get creeped out by that.
As far as the 2011 GotY, that's easy. It's Dark Souls hands down, just like Demons Souls before it. Dark Souls is basically what the Diablo franchise should've morphed into instead of that kiddy cartoon style they went with to sell more games to kids with nosey parents...

It was so bad imo that I stopped playing after about an hour or so...that English accent didn't mix well or fit in with the setting imo, and the spanish guy's vulgar and childish jokes put me off and was very embarrassing, I'm glad I was playing it alone...so yeah I think some franchises are better off not risking it.[QUOTE="bbkkristian"][QUOTE="PC360Wii"]zelda and mario have been challengless nostalgia praying childish/overly easy crap since the gamecube... and even moreso with the wii.PC360WiiNostalgia is NOT playing a new game with same characters. 1) Targeted at all ages? no targeted at kids, and former zelda playing adults.... it works on some, fails on others (me for example) due to no top end of anything being presented in the games.
2) Whos afraid of childeshness. the game is designed for kids on an intellectual level and theme.... and yet you lot are the ones afraid of childishness by being so concerned that I am saying you are playing a game designed for kids in int property and appeal.... but because you grew up on them your convinced they are for adults too
3) cant agree more. and Diablo III doesnt look at all kiddish....
4) Comparing a book to an easily designed kids adventure game is next to impossible.... as like ive said, it isnt the childish "theme" that is the problem, its the property that fails to satisfy me.... zelda is nothing.... what can it provide that skyrim cant on a much grander level and to an adult? exploration? weaponry? action? epic encounters? VOICE ACTING.... lenght?
Its a boring old forumlar that has aged as not stimulating to my mind... end of story really... I was impressed as a kid... im not longer a kid.

Oh man, I hope you have never watched a Pixar film, those are rated G, PG tops. Wouldn't want anyone thinking you are a little kid because you saw something, or played something, that they can also. The rating E stands for EVERYONE, let me repeat EVERYONE. The plus 10 means no one under ten, just thought I would clear that up for you also.
And so I am assuming you enjoyed Twilight Princess because it wasn't rated for everyone to play.
