[QUOTE="Coyo7e"][QUOTE="The_Game21x"][QUOTE="Coyo7e"] [QUOTE="Sgt_Grig"]yeah, too bad about the gameplay. wish they took some pointers from Forza.:(The_Game21x
I prefer the game-play in gt5p a lot more then forza 2. Especially once you can tune your car. The way performance points work means you can be much more strategic then forza, and a much wider variety of cars are able to compete.
I did not like Forza 2 at all, but I did enjoy the first one. But IMO GT5P is more fun to race then both those games.
Besides, there are class restrictions in Forza 2, which can limit the amount of tuning that can be done to your car, which will undoubtedly give the edge to the better driver and the one's who can tune efficiently within their chosen class. If that's where you were going in respect to GT5: Prologue.
But in Forza there were always cars (I have not raced Forz 2 in a long while) that trumped every other car in that class. I have even been in races where people complained that a certain car was not "fair" to use.
In GT5P you have performance points. So a car can have say 700 PP. The car I was using had 713, so I sacrificed some HP joined a race and got rolled. I came back and knew I needed better racing tires but that made my PP jump to 714 so I sac'ed more HP. I was a lot better off but I needed more acceleration for for the circuit I was running so I went and adjusted my gear ratios and PP jumped over 700 again.. what do I sac now?
Any car can compete in the 700 PP races as long as you tune it to 700 max PP. A much, much wider selection of strategeys are at hand and many, many more cars can compete.
I can see you haven't played Forza 2 in a while, it's written all over your post.
In Forza, there has never been any one car that trumped all of the others in the class except perhaps the incredibly unbalanced Lotus Elan in class D which was fixed very early on with an update. Like I said in my earlier post, it all depends on how you tune your car within that class. Everyone may think the Corvette Z06 is the best possible car in the A class, but my tuned RX-7 Gen 3, also in the A class, beats it around the track every time. Why? Because it's properly tuned, that's why. Say I'm at the limit for the A class and I need to tune it for a race specifically for A class cars because it's just not as fast as I need it to be. Well, I'll hop into the tuning menu and make a few adjustments to the gear ratios, differential, tire pressure, braking pressure, and downforce until it's to my liking. Hmm...sounds familiar to what you're doing in GT5: Prologue doesn't it?
It's funny you bring up the Performance Points system in GT5...sounds an awful lot like the Performance Index ratings assigned to cars in Forza 2. The number of points determines your car's class, and can be raised (and in some cases, lowered) by buying upgrades...hmm...I wonder where Polyphony got that idea? My guess is the same place they got the idea for the dynamically adjusting driving line.
forza 2 will quench my racing game thirst for years to come. it's sweet. i may rent upcoming ones like pg5(assuming it's coming) and GRiD, but forza is the only permanent fixture on my shelf for racing.paullywog
I completely agree with you there. I haven't ever enjoyed a racing game as much as I have Forza 2.
I'm sure the ;) at the end made you feel like the coolest person on earth, didn't it?
As for the better game? In my opinon, it's GT5 (well only the prologue is out but even that is proving so much already, even with the absence of damage, modifying car parts, etc). It's the most realistic driving experience outside of the real world that you will ever get, perdiod. Plus, i enjoy driving in this game far more than in games like Burnout: Paradise. I guess it just depends if you like arcade vs realistic simulator.
