So...people are assuming GT5 will only have the same features as GT4 and GT5P? lol You should wait until we get concrete details on GT5 before claiming F3 is better. Some of you sound almost as pathetic as MS @ e3 and their arrogant "definitive racer for the generation" drivel. It's bad enough claiming one game is better than another before reviews are out...but this is just wow.

You know... just because its in the target render trailer doesn't mean its going to make the final product. Secondly, since whe does having WRC rally cars and NASCAR racing cars mean they are having an actual racing league associated with the licenses?

And since when does having two types of racing cars beat out massive customization for tuning and painting, completely dynamic career mode, a physics engine that rivals PC sims, has enough new features to call this an entirely new series and comes out in less than three months. before GT5 even gets actual gameplay footage.

Sorry GT fanboys... but Forza is now that king... and has been since the first iteration came out on the Xbox.

foxhound_fox

I could easily say the same thing about the pic in your sig, not having a release date makes a game crap :|

This no release date nonsense should be put to rest but I think Forza fanboys are being irrational these days.

And since when people judged a game before even release :?

Given the incredible evolutionary gameplay advancements Polyphony made in the trip from GT2 to GT3 to GT4 to GT5P, I think it's safe to say that GT5 will be nothing more than Gran Turismo 2 with shinier graphics.

Maybe. Maybe Not. Should finally be some real details of GT5 at GC.

Don't get me wrong, I hope they add some cool new features, but I'm not holding my breath. And being the sucker I am, I'll buy it anyway even if it is just a prettier Gran Turismo.

And THIS is why GT doesn't even come close to Forza.

I think GT5 is coming this year. Kaz has said the game "can be released at anytime". It wasn't at e3, besides the trailer, because they wanted the focus on GT PSP. Plus, with MAG and other stuff delayed, Sony doesn't really have a big hitter for Nov/Dec. Surely they can't expect Uncharted 2(Oct 13th) and Ratchet to hold them off through the holidays.

That's what they did back in 2007 hahaha. It was Uncharted and Ratchet pulling the PS3 through the holiday.

Just wondering how is this damage though? Do you have any info on it? I have only seen non-gameplay with it and even then it was only like 3 seconds worth on a trailer. Forza has different levels of damage a player can choose from. Does GT5 have that? Will it be every car? Will it be every race? Can you flip cars like Forza you can? Forza fans talk about the damage because they know what the damage is like.

I heard it has better backgrounds, but then that doesn't really help the gameplay.

PSdual_wielder
It's not like having palliative half-baked additions which would be better off being separate and fully realized games would help the game either, and it's definetly not Forza that should need help in gameplay department.

We have to wait and see, they teased us with the damage so that was exciting to see a car in GT gets damaged, down the line we will know everything.

And LMAO at "can you flip cars like forza?" funny heheh.

As for the "will it be for every race?" what kind of question is this? lol.

Ya I know the damage in Forza 2 how it was like, it's good, did I see a car explode? or burning? no I thought I will see something like that but I didn't, all I experienced was something already in alot of other games, so yea the different levels crap didn't make it that much different.

So don't over do it with Forza 2's features ok :)

And we don't know anything about GT5, maybe it will surpass Forza 3 and maybe not but jumping to conclusions before even we saw anything and before we even didn't play Forza 3 yet is going too faraway.

You can laugh at the car flipping all you want but it is just yet another thing that makes Forza better then GT. Also I was just pointing out there is not much of a reason for GT fans to brag about having damage now since what a shocker not much is known like everything else with GT. The different levels shows how much the cars are effected by damage. As far as blowing up what are you talking about? How often in races are cars blowing up. It is rare to even see them catch on fire let alone blow up. I guess you have played to many arcade racers and not sims like Forza. But go ahead and brag about damage if you must because you saw 3 seconds in non-gameplay and that is about all the info you have.

EliteKitteh

In 5 iterations, the GT franchose hasn't had damage. Even if they incorporate now, it's up against developers who have had far more experience with it. Plus there IS a far more established online racing community in Forza, since it had that feature since the 6th generation that consists of both racers, and people sharing their custom car designs with the comprehensive livery editor.

The track record is heavily slanted in favor of Forza and GT has a LOT to catch up on, besides just the damage factor. This isn't opinion, it's fact.

So...people are assuming GT5 will only have the same features as GT4 and GT5P? lol You should wait until we get concrete details on GT5 before claiming F3 is better. Some of you sound almost as pathetic as MS @ e3 and their arrogant "definitive racer for the generation" drivel. It's bad enough claiming one game is better than another before reviews are out...but this is just wow.

ultima-flare

Not any where near as arrogant as stamping a claim like "The Real Driving Simulator" on your box when the game uses a gameplay model from 15 years ago, and basically fails to catch up with standards set by other racers (damage physics). Having that on the box today is blatant false advertising.

right now, ign and other gaming sites are giving whole 3 page articles based on forza 3's gameplay, online community, and everything else about the game. plus it has a release date thats been confirmed and coming out in less than 3 months. right NOW, forza 3 is getting a lot more attention because alot of things have been showcased for the game. on the other hand gt5 hasn't had anything to show for it. i hate when ps3 fanboys say "just wait until details are shown about the game and what everyone is going to say". i have a ps3 and a 360 and right now im definitely leaning toward forza 3, simply because they have had a lot to show for the game and everyone is excited for it.

How? With NASCAR in the game, and EA holding a 6 year exclusive license, the earliest they can release is 2010.

"Perhaps the most surprising to me was when a couple developers from Gran Turismo makers Polyphony Digital came by to personally get hands-on with Forza 3, all the while taking careful notes, examining our UI system, shooting photos, and directly asking us some pretty interesting questions. The reason I say I was personally surprised was because PD aren't generally known as a studio to acknowledge that there are racing games that exist beyond their own." NUFF SAID.. :)

[QUOTE="-Pred-Alien-"][QUOTE="Rza_rectah"] The GT franchise has a larger fan base and PS has free online. Forza 2 didnt have any competition when it was released so i fail to see your point. He said it will have a bigger online but that fact is based on nothing. Since gt 5 is more of a beta then a game.

Rza_rectah

And? You go on GameFAQs, Tales of Vesperia is one of the most popular 360 games. What did that mean for its sales? Yeah...

Sorry thats irrelvant fans actually purchase the game thats why they are fans am i right or wrong. I mean gt 5 p did 3.3 million in sales and thats not even a full game. Just because its the top of the list on gamefaqs that just means its a hard game so people need to refer to faqs to help then beat it. Thats why you usually see RPG's on the top of those lists or fighters. I beat you at the end of this gen zelda will be at the top of the wiis Gamefaqs list. FF 13 or 15 if thats this gen will be on the ps3's list and a Halo game will be on the 360s list. Those games will be followed by RPGS and other fighting games. Id say those lists are more or less based of the learning curve of those games.

I wouldn't say the sales figures for GT5p are entirely accurate as the game was bundled in the box of a hell of a lot of PS3's, I wouldn't own it had it not come with my PS3.

'03, with the first title being in '04. That means the question is, when does the license expire? 6 years to the day after it was signed? (If so, it's already over.) Calendar Year 04-CY09? Fiscal Year 04-FY09? EA and NASCAR know for sure, and if Poly is licensing NASCAR, that means they've been told, too.

Nah. GT5:p proved that GT5 will be almost exactly the same as GT4.

The GT franchise has a larger fan base and PS has free online.

This means squat. I haven't seen a Japanese developed game yet that has a decent online component.

From the concept demo that I saw (which is ingame, we can admit)Polyphony has gone under quite and undertaking. The game looks to expand exponentially on what GT5:P introduced. Think of how big compared to the rest of a book a prologue is, it is barley scratching the surface. GT5 will be amazing and I think as groundbreaking as GT3:A-Spec was. Rally in GT3 was fun and realistic. NASCAR and WRC are huge additions and they will be fleshed out, it's the nature of Polyphony's respect for racecar driving. Only time will tell and hopefull it will be soon.

That all depends on how big NASCAR and WRC will be. Will they be as big as standalone games? For those into NASCAR a standalone NASCAR game maybe better than purchasing GT5.

better gameplay, bigger online community

Rza_rectah
and you statments are based on? Especially the bigger online community ill like to know about that one.

seeing how Forza2's online community is still incredibly strong, I'd say that Forza3's will only increase the franchises install base in the online community.

I could easily say the same thing about the pic in your sig, not having a release date makes a game crap :|

This no release date nonsense should be put to rest but I think Forza fanboys are being irrational these days.

And since when people judged a game before even release :?HAZE-Unit

The Last Guardian has been given in-engine render footage. Team ICO has never used CGI to preview their games. We have yet to see a single image of GT5 gameplay. Not a single image. All we get from them is a CGI target-render... a Killzone 2 E3 2005 equivalent target render, for a game that has been in development since before the Forza series was released.

If GT5 is coming out anytime soon, it would have a release date. There is no way Sony or Polyphony is going to pass up the chance at hyping the ass out of the Playstation brand's biggest system seller.

Well obviously GT5 will be better than GT5p, there will be damage and thats a big change like Forza fans claim, damage included = best game ever.HAZE-Unit

Fans of the original GT requested that Kazunori put in damage consequences for GT2 (Winter Jampack '99). Damage has been a staple of the sim racing genre since around the time GT first came out. The game will be on its 7th iteration (after GT Mobile, there will have been 6 GT releases), it better have damage or it will be a laughing stock. Even Project Gotham Racing and GRID, two simcade games, can afford cosmetic damage modelling. Damage won't make anything the "best game ever," it will keep GT from being the "worst modern racing sim ever."

And most surprisingly, damage has yet to be confirmed a goal by Kazunori for GT5. Until we see a video showing real-time cosmetic damage and subsequent consequences for that damage in terms of performance... GT5 remains damage free.
