[QUOTE="sts106mat"] GT is a way more established franchise than Forza, its the benchmark for racing games. if GT5 scores less than forza 3 on gamespot, there will be a mess in SW.AdobeArtist
I think a 9.0 would be acceptable, its been a year since Forza 3 and I know standards can really change in the span of a year so today's 9.0 would be yesterday's 10. I mean, I don't think GTA IV or MGS4 would score a 10 if released today due to outdated graphics or a streamlining in mechanics in the intervening time for games.
For all that time and money though it damn well better get a 9.5.
Standards do change, but not that quickly. It's ironic how back when Forza 2 first came out, GT fans kept using the score of GT3 as a banner for how GT was a better sim racer than Forza 2. Did they use GT4 which as closer to the release of FM2? Well since that game scored lower, it couldn't be used despite being at the time the newest release of the GT series.
They hid behind GT3, a game from the previous console generation, from EIGHT YEARS prior. Funny how changing standards over 8 years didn't apply, but NOW that GT5 has only the slimmest chances of outscoring a 9.5 game, they can all readily accept changing standards of only 1 year's time. How.... convenient :roll:
How the hell does Gran Turismo 5 gets to labeled as having the "slimmest" chance of outscoring Forza 3 by your claims, if it dons more than TWICE the content that could have ever graced Forza 3...more cars on screen, weather changes, thousand cars, an inmense ammount of features that completely nullifies your claim of having the slimmess chances of outscoring Forza 3. Really?. So it should score less, than Forza 3 because.......................why exactly?
Oh, but Halo ODST, being a gloridfied expansion at full price with barely half the content Reach has gets a free pass and scored easily a 9.0 here and you're perfectly okay with that right?
