Kazunori Yamauchi, Polyphony Digital CEO, has stated in an interview with an Austrian magazine that the Gran Turismo franchise may expand beyond the PlayStation in future. Xbox 360 fans shouldn't get too excited however:

"It's very unlikely that GT will be released for another console," Yamauchi said. "But perhaps it will appear on the PC. We could broaden its distribution that way, especially in the Chinese market."

Yamauchi has also stated that the full version of Gran Turismo 5 won't be available until the end of 2009, and an upgrade to GT5 Prologue that will see crash damage added will be released around Spring 2008.

Thats the biggest delay i've seen yet. Oh well Looks like Prologue will have to do for now.

Its not like GT 5 won't be massively improved anyway, so its all good.

Well it's up to sony since they own the studio and series, so of course it's not going to other consoles, But if sony did decide to put it on PC, it would be what microsoft does with halo 3, by the time halo 3 goes to PC nobody cares about it anymore and that would be the same with GT It would come out 2 years or so after release on ps3

If it does come to PC, it will be in China only (as the article I saw said). I don't know why the Chinese don't have a PS3 yet.

It's a Sony game and a System seller, but this makes sense in countries like Korea where Consoles like the PS3 our against the Law.

The port to PC part isn't as bad news as that delay, isn't that like another years development time added? and there are no guarantees they won't delay it further :? why such a delay?

Well GT is the only franchise that I know of that features over 800 cars so it's understandable.

Agreed. GT has earned the reputation of being the King of racing games so I think we can afford it some leniancy since it is guaranteed to be a quality product.

Late 2009??

Im not advocating rushed games but wtf?? Seems it takes 3-4 years to make a decent game on ps3. There will be forza 4 by the time it ships lol, then its ps4 i suppose for gt6.

Because in those parts of Asia that are not Japan, the PC is undeniably king. Same goes for Europe, where PC is the main platform. So if you want more Koreans, French, Germans, Italians, Chinese, etc. playing your game, and they're not willing to go to your platform, then you have no choice but to take the game to them.

Even if it did come to pc, I dont see what the big deal is? I mean yes if u are going by gamespot rules then I guess the fanboys will come out jumping for joy or sitting there crying, but to me I think its great to see big franchise games going to pc so those who only play pc games can actually expirience these games aswell.

Um you never listed the other "console" that it may be going to. Or did you just try to call the PC a console? If so, then please refrain from insults to the PC in the future.:lol:

Because game production isn't a small time business anymore, it's a multi-million dollar market with games with huge budgets and a highly competitive market at that. Game production now takes longer than ever. The only way to beat the competition, is to make your game better meaning you have to develop the game better than your competition which, in some cases, means spending a lot more time with it.
