I think graphics in games are extremely important. Just look at the forums on this board and how much emphasis are put on visuals. Good graphics and good games also do go hand in hand. Not very many games that have stunning visuals are bad games and that is the result of production values and how much videogames have become an art.

graphics are somewhat important, but i think framerate affects gameplay more than resolution.

No More Heroes has pretty terrible graphics from a technical standpoint. Even artistically, the entire game looks pretty ugly. But it's still a damn good game, and a complete blast to play.

Not always, sometiems it makes the game more immersive but not that important as the actual gameplay.

Graphics can add to immersion, and immersion is a big part of gameplay so yes graphics do effect gameplay.

[QUOTE="PandaBear86"][QUOTE="Mystic-G"] Megaman @ 1080p doesn't make it 32bit. Resolution scale doesn't change graphics, it just turns one small black pixel into 10 small black pixels, it in no way shape or form makes the graphics better hence why I say resolution =/= graphics. Your topic is a ploy to make graphics somehow linked to gameplay in-which again I say Megaman 10.Mystic-G

I normally don't like flaming people, but you are really un-intelligent if you don't think reolution is a PART of graphics. Resolution is calculated by your GRAPHICS CARDYou still talk about "32bit", even though we don't judge graphics by how many "bits" we have.

Give me proof that resolution scale makes graphics better. That's what I say to you sir.

low res = jagged and blurry. resolution is a big part of graphics. why else would sony and ms promote hd gaming if 480p is enough?

this thread has gone on too far, lol mystic-g, you seem to have some kind of personal definition of the term "graphics" for some reason excluding image fidelty from it which doesnt make sense to me... and when you're playing your pc games, if you're not using the max resolution of your monitor for the game, i hope you're playing it unscaled to fit the screen/windowed mode or else it kind of voids the points you're trying to make

People who say graphics don't matter are usually either casual gamers, or Wii owners or both, but they really do matter especially for examples like you listed here, in my opinion the PS3 and 360 are the only ones in the console race this gen.

Nintendo fans can spout sales quotes all they want, but truth is we all know the majority of Nintendo Wii's sold are bought by parents for kids from 5 to 13, or the few remaining Nintendo fans that like there 1st party titles.

Any way i didn't want to turn this into a Nintendo bash fest, because i still like Nintendo, i just wish they would've made a more powerful console this gen thats all. Most games today do run in full 720 and 1080 and the hardware truly utilized to make those graphics flawless are usually the AAA titles that stand out from the others.

Spot on and I fully agree with you. If only most people would see the truth.

Graphics do matter as much as gameplay. For those who have the luxury of high end graphics, enjoy it and immerse yourself!
For those who dont, all you can do is envy.
