But what kind of games are you interested in? Are you really just looking for graphics? I'll tell you right now, the DS is my favorite game system of this generation, but the PSP is still a very nice handheld.
The PSP falls in between the PS and PS2 in terms of graphical proficiency (leaning closer to the PS2) while the DS falls in between the SNES and N64 (leaning closer to the SNES, pretty much a SNES with 3D ability).foxhound_foxHuh? It's pretty much a slightly more powerful N64. Mario 64 looks better on the DS than it did on the N64, so I've heard.

I'm interested in Rpgs and so far I'm more leaning torward getting a DS because I love Nintendo handhelds.

:P Well yeah, but talking about the actual power of the machine, it's better than N64.
I'm interested in rpgs, I might get a DS if the rpgs interest me enough but so far I'm leaning torwards DS but I'm a Nintendo fanboy in heart and it looks like the DS has better rpgs.jeffdoomsday
If you want RPGs, definitely get a DS. It has a LARGE ammount of RPGs, and a lot of them are quite good. I find that the DS has more unique games as well. It has been said before: the PSP is pretty much a handheld PS2 with new games made for it. That's not to be taken as an insult, but the DS just offers something different in my eyes: a completely new experience. Don't get me wrong, PSP has its fair share of unique titles, like Crush and Lumines, but the DS offers more.
Here's what the DS has to offer in terms of RPGs:
Final Fantasy 3
The World Ends With You (Action RPG)
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings
Etrian Odyssey
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates
Dragon Quest IX (not released yet)
Children of Mana
Puzzle Quest (Bejewled meets RPG)
Probably a lot I'm missing, this are just some of the best.

You can't go wrong with the DS.
The PSP is more a "multimedia monster", with graphics capabilities far beyond any Handheld (yup, it plays movies, and God of War CoO looks almost like the first GoW for the PS2), but almost everybody agrees that the DS has the best game library.
Just considered this, Electrpnic Gaming MOnthly usually says that the DS is even better than the home consoles.
And, if you are looking for RPGs, no system can match it.
PSP has way better graphics and much cooler games (God of War, Ratchet and Clank, Resistance). If you take a look forward to 2009/10 youll find much for cool releases for PSP than for DS.
I hate how people compare the DS's 3d graphics to the N64's 3d graphics just because it's a Nintendo system. 3D graphics on the DS looks a lot more like PS1 3D graphics then N64 3D graphics. The N64 had that fuzzy, yet solid stretched out look. The DS much like the PS1 has that sharper but with rougher textures and clipping 3D look. Anyways this is the way I see it:
DS = Playstation 1.2 (a little better then PS1 graphics)
PSP = Playstation 1.8 (nearly as good as PS2 graphics)
[QUOTE="HarlockJC"]So far there has not been any DSi only games...So I am not sure how it will compare. The DSi is twice as powerful and has 4 times more Ram than the DSL. Maybe someone that know numbers can compare the two.WAIWThat power isn't used for games. Maybe it will not be...But I am sure sooner or latter there will be DSi only game if not just for Nintendo trying to push out sells. PSP has the graphics down pack otherwise though. Just been wondering if we will see someone use that extra power.
The DS can perfectly port SNES games but not N64. DS is close, but not quite, N64 level graphics.
PSP is also not quite PS2 level. But better then DS for sure.
DS has way better games then PSP, but as of late PSP is really heating up.

As far as this debate goes, I think if you're primarily a console/pc gamer the DS is a better secondary device. So if you're the type that plays your handheld only on trips or for short quick sessions before you go to bed the DS will fill that role nicely. It has unique games that are unlike what you'll find on the consoles, has better batterylife, and is easier to carry around.
However, if you are the type of gamer that actually will sit down and play a couple of hours on your portable and play it as much or even more then your home consoles then the PSP is the better choice. It really is the first portable that can be a home console replacement with games that are very close to home console titles with impressive graphics and in covering pretty much every major genre.
I'm thinking of getting a handheld and both handhelds are pretty close in the price range but which one has better graphics?jeffdoomsday
Ds is n64 hardware.
Of course the psp have better graphics

theres as much as twice rpgs for ds than for PSP. and high quality ones.Like Chrono Trigger, more final fantasies .Maybe a hundreth of ds rpgs.On graphics , surely the psp games SOMETIMEs look better, for some reason, despite the huge difference in power, games like Zelda for DS push more then machine into showing beauty than the PSP.is like they try the psp game to look like a grand epic game while its not possible so it looks watered down.In the other hand, DS tries to show a great portable game(Ninja Gaiden) and it shows. Please Log In to post.
