As far as this debate goes, I think if you're primarily a console/pc gamer the DS is a better secondary device. So if you're the type that plays your handheld only on trips or for short quick sessions before you go to bed the DS will fill that role nicely. It has unique games that are unlike what you'll find on the consoles, has better batterylife, and is easier to carry around.
However, if you are the type of gamer that actually will sit down and play a couple of hours on your portable and play it as much or even more then your home consoles then the PSP is the better choice. It really is the first portable that can be a home console replacement with games that are very close to home console titles with impressive graphics and in covering pretty much every major genre.
there are more -longer- games in DS than PSP in average(in fact it has more games in EVERY Genre!), and the graphics ARE still not impressive compared to a home system .The psp is as much as home system replacement as a DS,. which is to say, they arent.
