unless like obama gets elected and he raises taxes on everybody and ruins the economy....

mistervengeance

The economy is already in shambles and McCain has already said he would raise taxes to help certain governmental programs out. Taxes will go up regardless of who wins. Don't kid yourself.

that picture is win... though off topic... but then again its the opposite in Canada... Conservatives do good, lower taxes 2% and fix the nation, andthe Liberals cost Canada BILLIONS in scandals and redardation

yeah well we dont live in canada do we?

you could also say taht conservatism lost the nazis a lot, but that wouldn't really be saying anything..

lol i live in canada... *tear*

economy is not in shambles...it was in a slowdown and now its slowly creeping back up...we never even had any negatgive quarters in 8 years...and bush's gdp numbers are comparable to clinton's

clinton cut the military in half and caved in to a republican congress which basically ran the economy while clinton sat there and got pleasured in the oval office

reagan inherited the country after jimmy carter basically turned the country into a toilet and created one of the largest peace time economic properity periods of all time

bush sr betrayed conservative values and raised taxes...which is why he lost

and also you must equate the defict in relation to gdp...when you do that bush's deficit is actually smaller than reagan's and half the size of kennedy's and jhonson's in the 60's ...the actual number of the deficit doesn't matter because the economy is just so much bigger than it ever was in the past...in fact barring any major depression the economy is always bigger as time passes because we are constantly growing....

stop reading the new york times and allowing the drive by media and nancy pelosi no drill global warming kook congress dumb you down my friend

alright, i credit what you said, but that doesn't make the statement made in that picture any less true.

Games can have both great graphics and gameplay, look at Crysis and Company of Heroes.

Well firstly the name of the thread is just dumb. Your saying that because a game has good visuals, it has bad gameplay. Not so.

Secondly, alot of people are saing "Oh all those games like goldeneye, FF7 and Ocarina didn't need good graphics, they just had awesome gameplay". It's not like those titles had bad graphics for their time.

I don't mind good graphics. The better the graphics the better in my opinion. But it does need to be backed up with good gameplay, which alot of the games with the best graphics do have.

Some games can benefit from good graphics in gameplay terms. EG. Doom 3.

Honestly, you can't say that for example, the wii would be worse with a more powerful processor? It would just make graphics, physics engine, sound etc better. How could that possibly ruin gameplay?

Maybe your point is that the games have so much effort put into visuals, that gameplay and storyline is a second thought. I don't believe so. Graphics are obviously getting better, and I do agree games are easier than they used to be, but thats because AI in enemies is more reslistic / evenly matched.

That's my opinion.

Gameplay is evolving.

Graphics is evolving.

Difference is in many instances Gameplay is taking steps backwards to be more simple ala more "assessable", for right and wrong reasons.

Graphics aren't really ruining games, developers are just taking advantage of today's technology and using it to its fullest potential...

I think most reasonable people agree that Gameplay>Graphics

hummer700

I think the importance of graphics diminishes as it goes past a certain treshold which is the "expected level of details". So if a game can render ok graphics, at that point gameplay starts to take more weight. But if graphic plain sucks, than no matter how good the gameplay is, few people will play it.

Give it until the end of this generation and the focus will begin to move away from graphics again. Mainly because each graphical leap will get smaller and smaller as generations go on. It's also that a lot of gamers these days grew up through early PS1/N64 era, and have just been sucked in by the graphical leaps between generations. They missed out on the 80's and early 90's. A time when gameplay ruled over everything. Even if companies were still trying to sell visuals.
