Graphics that made your jaw drop!

I am really talking about games that you simply could not believe what you were looking at, it's basically the moment you were experiencing new technology. The game does not necessarily has to have the best graphics of it's time but that you had never experienced anything like that before. Here is my list in no order of importance.

1. MGS2: This was the first game I played on the PS2 and I simply could not believe how good the rain effects were in the first level. Truly one of the most memorable moments of all time, the animations the graphics it was simply out of this world.

2. Farcry xbox version: This is the only game on my list that isnt considered a technical blockbuster I was honestly absolutely blown away by it. I have played most xbox big hitters and I still think farcry had the best graphics of them all. Obviously the fact that it was one of my first xbox game and that I wasnt a PC gamer contributed to me being blown away but I really think from consoles standards this game's graphics were underrated.

2. Half Life 2 maxed out: It's very difficult to say which one moment was the most jaw dropping of them all but if there has to be one then I guess it is half life 2. I had just got a new high-end PC and I could not wait to play HL2 in all it's glory(I had a crappy PC when it was released so waited a bit). My god what an experience it was, I was LITERALLY looking here and there and looking for someone to "TELL ME THAT I JUST DID NOT LOOK AT THAT".:P

3. Crysis: This game is probably the one I have spent the most time just "looking and staring" at the graphics in utter disbelief. And to this day the game has the visuals to make you stop and just appreciate what you are looking at.

4. Metro 2033 PC version: Not counting crysis:warhead this was the first game to truly blow me away since the original crysis. I personally think the game has better graphics than crysis and I cant wait to play it again when I have a better graphics card.

5. DIRT 2 PC version: This is probably the weakest of the 5 as far as "blowing me away" is concerned but I still think it needs a mention purely due to the fact that it's only one of 2 games after crysis that left me in awe of the graphics.

SoTC: I didnt actually like the game, but dear o dear I was no longer expecting the PS2 to wow me again but this game was absolutely beautiful.

POP: Sands of Time: The art style was just amazing, it was like literally playing a fairytale.

The first 360 game I played was Gears of War and that game had mind melting awesome graphics

super mario sunshine my jaw dropped at the water and environmental textures for the time

mechassault 2: one of my favorite games on xbox, was shocked at how great the character models were

oh and assassin's creed made my jaw drop as well, it was my first non wii game this gen

God of War 3, Uncharted 2, and Crysis all made my jaw drop.

Also actually a few parts did in Modern Warfare 2, some lighting and the way some parts of story mode looked were done very well.

Simply couldnt believe what I was looking at? No games default graphics have made me feel that way.

This Crysis mod however blew my balls off and had my jaw on the floor.

Seeing a huge, incredible landscape emerge from the distance is pretty awesome. The world generator in Minecraft makes for some pretty jaw dropping geography.

In addition with all the other famous one i'd say Just Cause 2 and Stalker.

Not many games make my jaw drop (not even Crysis). FSX normally won't either. But, this one did. Hi-res FSX with REX and other mods.

FEAR, seeing the particles fly in slo-mo seemed leaps and bounds ahead of Half-Life 2 and Far Cry (which were the best looking games before FEAR came out)

First 3D game i ever saw was Mario 64 so i was like...OH MAH ******* GAWD. then came OOT then Luigi's Mansion then Doom 3 then Perfect Dark Zero (i know, call me crazy), and last is Crysis
