If you're talking about games, you're buggin'.
If you're talking about graphics, you're insane.
I'm talking about games.
According to Gamerankings....N64 had 12 AAA scored games.
PS1 had 44.
PS1 started first, and it ended last.
N64 had some nice games...Heck, I still have it hooked up...but for the 5th generation, PS1 spit on the N64 and beat up on it just for fun.
PS3 slaughtered the N64 that gen, and it wasn't even close.....not even moderately close.
Sands of time. an architect's dreams.
i agree, sands of time blew me away. such a great game. Yeah, i had the gamecube's version and it looked great.[QUOTE="theuncharted34"]

I think you have it backwards friend... You buggin'. The best games of all time are on the n64.
Crysis, then nothing untill....
AC2 in a few instances where the terrible terrible popin did'nt piss me off.
for some reason i can't remember crysis making my jaw drop, but with uncharted i was like :o and then there are the arthouses like okami, to name one.BrunoBRS
how did uncharted make your jaw drop when crysis didnt? that's like seeing a gigantic cake and going meh, but flipping out over a cupcake :P
This gen: Crysis, Crysis Warhead, God of War 3, uncharted 2, Gears of War, Heavy Rain, Killzone 2. Just about every game the media awarded best graphics this gen lol.
Super Mario Sunshine - Being a kid in 2002 with only a Nintendo 64 and a Game Boy, I was quite impressed with the graphics in that game. The way the environments were designed and the water effects. They looked so realistic to me back in the day, it made me think of the GameCube as a more technologically advanced and a more stellar, "hardcore" system than my wimpy little N64. I didn't get a GameCube until Christmas of 2005, when all those games were starting to sell out of stores and the next-gen consoles were arriving...
Crysis - Does this one really need an explanation? All I can say is that I wish that there existed more games like Crysis, which was willing to push modern PC technology to its highest limits; as high as high can get. What's even more crazy is that this a 3 year old game. So you can imagine what developers could push out today 3 years later if they really wanted to.

Some parts in God of War 3 made my jaw drop more than Crysis and Crysis Warhead combined so go figure. Jaw dropping occurs usually when some super epic scene happens. At the end of Crysis Warhead fighting the boss on the airfield was sick along with the end boss in Crysis. Those were epic as well.

I don't disagree that the N64 had some really good games...great ones in fact.
But the problems was, for the N64, the great AAA scoring ones were far and few in between.
That's why the N64 was overall inferior to the PS1 which seemed to have a great game launched every month almost.
Gears of War 2, Prince of Persia, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Mass Effect 2...
Not that hard for me to find graphics impressive.
uncharted 2 - this is probably in my opinion the best looking console game. the scenery, the colors, the water drenching his shirt in the rain, this game is gorgeous.
gow3 - i think this game has one of the best looking character models on consoles. sometimes it does have a cgi-ish look.
Gears 1 - this was the game that made me say, DAMN now we are in the nex gen of console gfx. i remember being dissapointed will pretty much every game on 360 ( graphics wise) until gears came out. up until this point i only played shooters on the pc. games like perfect dark 0, and call of duty 2 looked like crap IMO.
kz2 - the lighting in this game is seriously awesome. also the particle effects are very very nice.
crysis and crysis warhead - seeing trees getting chopped down by bullets was insane! swimming, shooting birds out of the sky, the openess, great stuff.
half life2 lost coast - game is old now, but when it came out, WOW it looked awesome.
Farcry, i know this game is old now, but when it first came out, it was mind blowing.
Here are my picks:
Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis)
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Genesis)
Mickey Mouse: Castle of Illusion (Genesis)
Phantasy Star 2 (Genesis)
Sword of Vermillion (Genesis)
Super Mario All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 3 (SNES)
Final Fight (SNES)
Mega Man 7 (SNES)
Contra 3 [hardest difficulty setting playthrough, amazing] (SNES)
Metal Slug (arcades)
Final Fantasy 7 (just the summons, didn't like the rest of the graphics at all) (PS1)
Final Fantasy 10 (PS2)
Little Big Planet (PS3), because it was a transition game between my SDTV and HDTV and there was a super huge quality increase that I couldn't believe it when I saw the game on my new TV
Dragon Quest 8 (PS2)
Rogue Galaxy (PS2)
Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles (PSP), "now this is what a portable game should look like"
some Naurto game my brother got for his PS3 a few weeks ago (most amazing looking graphics I've ever seen on a TV screen, can't think of anything I've ever seen that tops it for me)
and others that haven't come immediately to mind just yet
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
some of the most epic scenery i've ever seen in a game. and kinda reminds me of the movie Van Helsing.

well you'd expect cakes to bigger than cupcakes so seeing a big-ass cupcake is just jaw-dropping. :P
kz2 and gow3 really impressed me.
idk why, but crysis didnt impress me as much.. maybe my expectations were too high.

i went for crysis expecting to see a picture of a tropical island in motion. i got that. i rented uncharted 2 (should have made that clear, i'm talking about U2 :P) just like i'd rent any other game. i was overwhelmed. plus artstyIe and presentation helps.[QUOTE="dragonfly110"]

Headtracking and amazing forest, this stunned me when i played it.
MGS2
Crysis
Splinter Cell (Original one on the Xbox...at the time it was incredible)
Uncharted 2
Killzone 2
Zone of the Enders (incredible looking game)
Zelda a Link to the Past
Soul Caliber 1 (DC)
NHL 2k (DC...first hockey game I could literally see the players sweat and perspire)
Goldeneye (N64)
etc etc.
Games I remember being very impressed with the graphics.
Well when I went from N64 and then to PS2, FF X impressed me big time with graphics. Then I move to the Wii where some levels on SMG impressed me greatly. Then finally to the transition to the 360, where the first game I played for it was Gears 2 which blew me away graphically. Then still on the 360 (and I'm suprised no one has mentioned this game) is FF XIII. That game was stunning, I couldn't believe how good it looked!
Here are a few I remember.
-Quake 1: When this game came out it completely blew me away that a game could look as amazing as it did. Still one of my favorite games too.
-Dragon Quest 8: I got this game from a family member, now I'm not a huge fan of JRPGs outside of Final Fantasy Tactics or Fire Emblem but tried it anyways. Game was crap (combat isn't to my taste), story was generic but man did it look great. I stomached probably 40 hours just to see the next location because of that art direction. Was also the beginning of my appreciation for styl1zed games.
-Doom 3: The sequel to the first game I played, was expecting something amazing. It was gorgeous in the tiny corridors on my then aging computer but the rest of the game was a complete and utter disappointment. Still have a sour taste in my mouth.
-Oblivion: This was one of my first games after upgrading a 5 year old computer and my I had to pick my jaw up off the ground after leaving the dungeon. Too bad the game fell short without mods.
-Team Fortress 2: The art style immediately caught my attention in the trailer with the rocket jumping soldiers who were waltzing. Ran out to buy the Orange Box and played that sucker to death until Valve raped their game with hats.
-Trine: I wasn't expecting much from this indie game in terms of appearance but man the art direction is still the best I've saw in a game. Pretty good platforming too.
