Even more unfortunate is how Sony closed them when one of Liverpool's members had passed away. Just bad timing.

Obituary: Tony Bourne

Rest in peace.

Seriously? Damn, that is horrible.

Did you bother to look into that claim? It is SW, the land of the flying misinformation and confusion.

I was curious myself and it only took a second to see the 'Obituary: Tony Bourne' article is brand new from 5 days ago:

"Tue 25 Nov 2014"

---

Sony closed Liverpool way back in 2012.

The thread may seem like new information, but we've seen threads on Liverpools closing two years ago. It's old news and Tony's death is far more recent.

I perfectly know Sony Liverpool was closed 2 years ago and nowhere did I mislead.

Who suggested you did?

It wasn't me or rather, that wasn't my intent.

I was speaking and responding directly about the 'Obituary: Tony Bourne' new 2014 article from Tuesday November 25th, 2014.

Poor Mr. Bourne died recently (a few days ago) and somehow his death has been equated with Sony closing Sony Liverpool at the same time, when in fact Liverpool was closed over two years ago (2012).

It seems due to this thread's timing and looking at the confused responses, many users in this thread think Liverpool just closed.

I didn't look into it until after I posted that quote, I admit. But I remember when Sony Liverpool closed, I just didn't hear about that death until now.

Well that makes sense you didn't hear about the death until now considering poor Mr. Bourne just died a few days ago. His funeral is in two days.

"Tony's funeral will be held Wednesday 3rd December at Walton Lea Crematorium in Warrington at 12:20. Later that evening, there will be informal drinks in Central London at the Sun & 13 Cantons, 21 Great Pulteney Street."

It's all tragic of course. The two events are just years apart, is all.

It's just how Blab (which I expected better, considering his preferences with Sony) posted caught me off guard. Like I thought until I read that link that he died sometime in the same year the studio closed down.

I see. To be clear, he likes the Vita sure and he owns various PS and other systems, but I wouldn't say he is exactly kind to Sony or their fans on these boards. He's definitely a user that has blasted "annoying cows" and "Sony" in the past repeatedly. Possibly more so than any other group.

With this thread, I'm not sure if he was trolling to see who would fall for it or if he too was confused like others that these two events aren't related. However, it fits the Modus Operandi of pointing at Sony.

It's understandable the confusion considering this thread's timing coincides with a tragic death.

I'm burned out on racing games in general, though the Wipeout franchise was a favorite for years.

What I really miss is the the Colony Wars franchise. Why isn't atleast the first one on PSN? If there's one game I would like to see remastered it's the first Colony Wars.

Come on Sony, you own the IP. The massive support for Star Citizen and the upcoming No Man's Sky should let you know that the interest in space flight sims is back with a vengeance.

Loved Wipeout and by all accounts the franchise isn't done yet, it'll just be handled by a different studio.

As the article mentions, much of the talent from the studio was reshuffled into Sony's other developers, so at least if you were a fan of Liverpool's work, you'll be thrilled to know that talent is still involved in making Sony games. It's a fate I find more palatable than the walking Zombie the is now Rare, where all the original talent has long since gone and the brand is only held up in an attempt to pull the the gamer's heart strings.

Y'all need to chill. I remember it happened because I had a discussion with a user who at the time said that Sony should refrain closing them because of this employee passing away.

Thanks for posting more information on what you were speaking; it was cryptic before as someone recently died from Liverpool.

It looks like Liverpool lost Fawcett and Bourne to Cancer.

Yep, like I said, really unfortunate timing on Sony's part.

Thanks for talking about my opinion on my cowness or lack thereof :P I actually enjoyed that.

You are welcome. I was looking for a way to get you back in here to hopefully get some sort of an answer and it all worked out as you came through and even dropped off a link.

And EA closed Westwood Studios, Microsoft closed Ensemble Studios, Activision closed Bizarre Creations. May they all rest in peace. :(

There was no greater crime than Microsoft's closure of Ensemble Studios. And Age of Empires was a revered franchise, not like any of the franchises by Psygnosis. What was the point of the this thread again?

I am also sad to the Psygnosis hit the dirt, but keeping a studio open just for nostalgic reasons I something that no studio / publisher with some sense would do. So, I understand the move. And I loved Psygnosis' games !

People didn't appreciate their games. I don't think Sony closed them at a whim.

Might be, but ever since the transition to PS2, all they ever did were Formula 1 and WipeOut games, and most of the latter were on PSP...They could've worked on something else, that's why I'm blaming Sony. Not even Rare was so badly misused by Microsoft.

stop looking for some other reasons, everybody knows you hate Sony/PS4
