[QUOTE="white_sox"]MGS2 demo packed in w/ ZoE.
Solid_Snake1221

That demo sold a lot of copies of ZoE ala Halo 3 beta w/ Crackdown.

The only difference is that ZoE was a game worth getting.

(Yes, I'm taking a shot at Crackdown.)

Crackdown was extremely fun, especially co op.

Crackdown was a bad game. You can like it, but do aknowledge that the Halo 3 Beta was included because the game sucked.

I didn't like the skate demo. I did however like the Tony Hawk's Project 8 demo. Just more my taste. And I thought the F.E.A.R. demo was really good, because it got things creepy quickly and put some really great spooks into a 20 minute demo.

I disagree, I played the Company of Heroes for over about 2 months now and still love it, and the UT04 demo also has a lot of content that will keep you busy for a while

After spending a lot of time on the Skate demo, I've come to the conclusion that it's the greatest demo of all time. For those who haven't played it; after a quick tutorial on the basics, you're granted 30 minutes of playtime within the skate park. You're also allowed limited use of the replay function.

My doubts about the game quickly disappeared once I played the demo. Another demo that comes to mind is FFVIII's. What's your favourite?

bearbones

Sadly, the demo doesn't really show the flaws the game does have. Namely the camera and the god damn ****ing pedestrians, skaters and cars. The cars are the worst. I've lost count how many times I've had to start a session over cause they either get in the way or sneak up on me from a blind spot. I want to punch them in the face.

Also some of the challenges are lame, forcing you to spam ridiculous grind+fliptrick+manual combos like it's a Tony Hawk game. It's not in tune with the authentic experience they're going for.

The game is awesome despite all of this though.

No. The best demo was the Halo PC demo!

You can even play online! The only reason to get the game!

it was a very very good demo.

It made me go out and buy the game actually. I tried playing the THPG after i had been playing the skate demo all day, and tony hawk just sucked. I could not play it for more than 5 minutes. I got so sick of it.

Skate is the new way to... well...skate :)

Also, I thought the Battlefield: MC demo (for consoles) was great. a free online demo that you could play as much as you wanted.

Dead rising was also a good one. also, crackdown was a fantastic demo.

my fav demo was the fight night r 3 demoplat1num913

a VERYYYYY good demo.

I had that on my HDD forever.

My brother and I would play the demo more than our games sometimes.

We picked it up a week or so after it was released because the demo was so fun.

That demo was perfect to play with a friend. never got old.

Bioshock demo was incredible, crackdown had me sold tootccavey2

darn!!! beat me too it.

I played through the Bioshock demo at least 10 times when I first downloaded it. Got the game first day.

Also, the Fushion Frenzy demo that came with halo 2. hahaha I also had friends over to play halo 2 co op (lan parties FTW!!!) and we'd play fushion frenzy and use it for drinking games. Then we'd be nice and drunk to play halo 2.

Good times.

[QUOTE="Solid_Snake1221"][QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"]

Are you guys all skating fans or something?

I saw my brother play it and I didn't find it any more appealing than the other Tony Hawks games...

FrozenLiquid

Thats the problem. You didn't play it. If you did, you would see why everyone here liked it.

Lol at the very least I did an ollie and a tweak and a grind when my sister couldn't seem to do any of it.

Apart from that, it just didn't look to appealing.

No real rigid story but just gaining sponsors and "owning" areas.

I guess the major difference between this and TH was the use of thumbsticks. It's like EA is porting it's "total punch control" system to every damn game of theirs -- FIFA, Harry Potter, if EA is on the title, it's got some sort of right stick function.

I wonder if skate's popularity has anything to do with Lupe Fiasco's (and others) rejuvenation of skating as a hobby for the masses to relive again (much like 80s hairdos are coming bck)

But really, instead of making a smart quip, could you tell me what makes this skating game more fun and strangely more popular than Tony Hawk's?

The trick system.

I think, it is MUCH more satisfying when you land a difficult trick, or manual to a grind to a trick and land it.

In tony hawk you could just button mash and do some stupid trick. But with skate it actually takes some skill do land a trick. The graphics are great, the environments are fun to skate it, huge city to explore with the X games and the MEGA compound and some other special areas to unlock.

The online is a lot of fun. SKATE, best trick, races, Jam, a lot of fun game types.

And the saved film feature is a lot of fun as well. It's a lot of fun to rewind and go in slow motion as you can actually see your foot movements (just like in real life) and how your board lands (your board has it's own physics) and how your body turn with it and shifts its weight to stay balanced. Or you can just watch your self slam face first into a metal sign hahahaha.

Trust me, the game is A LOT of fun. give it a rent.

Wow. You don't like fun? To each their own, but you're in the minority on this one I believe. Yup, 83 at Metacritic from 75 reviews.

Crackdown is my sleeper of the year so far. Thought it was gonna be another generic GTA wannabe. And I thought it looked nasty in the early videos. Only reason I got it was because my 360 broke and I got it as compensation. After trying it out I would have gladly payed $60 for it. The verticality alone just brings so much to the genre. So much fun to jump over the rooftops and scale buildings like a supermonkey. And you can roundhouse kick cars. The story is non-existant, but that's so not what the game is about. As a sandbox experience it's the most fun I've had for a long time.

1 you are one of those people that don't understand the difference between a good demo and a good game.

2 it's also a good game. you can DISLIKE it, but it was NOT bad. Halo3 beta was a nice bonus, but i bought it for Crackdown.

Dunno. BioShock's demo sold me on the game when I was immensely skeptical of it. As soon as that demo wrapped up, I went and pre-ordered it.
