Miyamoto ...... the man made Mario and Zelda. Two of the industries most beloved franchises ever. Nonstop-Madness
You can't really call it an industry favorite if the games only come out on 1 of the 4 platforms which literally make up the industry today. Statistically, i'd say more than 50% of the gaming demographic don't even have the chance to play them.
Miyamto's done some great things, but he's had hisbad days too.
My vote goes to
Never made a game I didn't like.
Every sci fi movie, book, game in the past 50 years.Who ever is the creative mind behind the Mass Effect series.

It's tough between Wright and Miyamoto. But I'm playing Pikmin right now and that game is ten different kinds of awesome so I'll have to vote Miyamoto.
edit: Lol at Kojima in second.
Definitely Miyamoto. I don't think anyone's achievements are likely to surpass this guy's anytime soon.
Its not about your low points but rather your games that were good enough to shape the industry in a way never imagined. Miyamoto has done that more times than anyone else in the industry. Half Life has made great strides in story telling and photo realism while Portal has been the master of physics and paid special attention to character AI interaction. Miyamoto's Mario laid the foundation for how most games progress. I do not need to go down the line of other characters that he has made that were similar in how much they affected the industry.Miyamto's done some great things, but he's had hisbad days too.

[QUOTE="GrandTheftDog"][QUOTE="enterawesome"]Japan's biggest game series is sure as hell not FF. Dragon Quest or Mario, more than anything. Regardless, who else could deserve such a title besides Shiggy himself?enterawesomeSays the dude with the LIGHTNING pictureYeah, FF13 is awesome, but as far as popularity and sales, Dragon Quest, Pokemon, and Mario all out-do FF.But you know that DQ is made by the same company of FF currently since the fusion right?
Btw I don't think they alone deserve all the praise. Their team is actually more deserving than themselves I believe. FF7 got famous due to Nomura's deisng. Who knows who actually designed the level layouts on mario or certain mechanics that made it great? I believe that all of them bring good ideas, but without a good team they wouldn't have reached the objectives at all.
Miyamoto because of Zelda,Mario and creating new ways to play after him probably Mikami for Resident Evil.
ID, mainly the lead programmer, John Carmack, for creating and popularizing the FPS genre. To bad he's not in that list.
Since i can't choose him, i'll choose the next best thing, Miyamoto, for creating some of the most successful video game franchises. Sid meier made one of the greatest strategy games on the planet, but.. i believe Miyamoto made a bigger impact back in the day.
Hideo Kojima for giving birth to the stealth genre with Metal Gear, to forcing other developers to have a strong focus on the cinematics and voice acting with Metal Gear Solid
And for creating Metal Gear Solid 4, my favourite game of course :)
Bungie. The only developer where people know most of the employees by their first names. Every employee has his own personality and all care for their communityBodyEliteBrilliant piece of PR there, but you didn't even go into their achievements in gaming. It's like praising Kobe Bryant for being a great role model for kids instead of his basketball abilities.
[QUOTE="hd5870corei7"]Castle Wolfenstein came before Metal gear. No genius, Metal Gear came out 3 years before Castle Wolfenstein, and thats an FPS, not stealth. Also to add a reason for HidKoji: for making MGS4, the game that raised obliterated the bar of game quality ;PHideo Kojima for giving birth to the stealth genre

[QUOTE="TheShadowLord07"]He's a fantastic programmer. Likely even the best. But that's not the same as being a good game designer, which he frankly isn't. Can't really say, i don't think he actually designed anything since his Apple days before ID even existed. Actual design was left up to the rest of the team.i find the lack of carmack disturbing.
