Greatest Game Villians from the Past 20 years.....

Weve all seen great Villans and evil doers in games for all long time. Since Quit Honestly im too young to remember villans from teh 80's, which do you think are the top 5 greatest Game villans from 1993-to the Current gen? so basically its from the PS1 and N64 days to these days. Mine are:

5. Dr. Neo Cortex: Crash Bandicoot: From one of my favorite game franchises is Dr. Neocortex from Crash Bandicoot. This guy was so over the top and he was basically the stereotype of all Comic book Supervillians.

4. Glados: Portal; who dosent love a Crazy post phychopathic AI that tries to serve you cake while trying to fort you? Plus shes quit the singer (listen to the end credit song.)

3. The G-Man: Halflife; Im pretty sure HL1 was out in 93. In any case, he was one of my favs ever. He talks in a very unexpressive tone while dressed as some Droll Businessman, while Speaking rather Articulately.

2. Revolver Ocelot: MGS 1-4; how can you not like this guy. He has the Stache, the Twin Revolvers,a dn hes essentially a Russian Clint Eastwood. (play MGS 1 and he makes very similar comments to what Eastwood made in Dirty Harry) Able to Richocet Bullets to hit a hiding foe and being just a overall bad ass, hes a prime candidate for number 1, but unfortunately, even he cannot stand up to our Number 1 villan in the Past 20 years.

1. Sephiroth: FFVII; The Moment you hear the the Violen and Drum beat in the beginning intro to the theme, you know who this man is. Hes basically become sunoymous to the FF Series and. IMO, one of the most well known game villans. Sephiroth is basically the Epitamy of the evil doer. Long Silver hair and a Sword the Size of a Bus, he is pretty much the most Iconic Bad guy in games in the last 20 years. Not only that, but he was able to make a entire fan service weep when he Arguably created the Sadest moment in a Video Game ever. THAT my freinds is a True Villan. He also boasts one of the most Musically impressive Themes in the Business (IMO atleast) From the Violens to the drums and the Unisend Singing/Slant chanting, its a song every gamer has heard atleast once.

(Side note: im still waiting for that FFVII remake Square.)

Sephirorth is not the most iconic gaming villain of all time, he's the most recognisable Final Fantasy villain, that's all, he's not even the most popular, I believe that's Kefka from FF6.

More likely the most iconic villain of gaming is from the same series as the most iconic hero, which would of course be Bowser:

Honestly, is there anyone in gaming who does not know who that is? I'd say there many that wouldn't have a clue who Sephiroth is.

Ocelot was pretty awesome....until he meowed like a cat.... That just made me burst out laughing... and I never took him seriously since then.....If you ask me Volgin was more bad *** than he was.

Kefka's better than Sephiroth. Kefka would poke Sephiroth in the eye, and probably make him cry.

And as someone has already mentioned, Irenicus was nasty.

I think Dr Robotnik should get a mention for tenacity.

I would have put Jon Irenicus up here..........but then I finished Baldur's Gate 2. The only difference between him and other antagonists is his excellent voice actor and some of his dialouge. Besides that he is VERY cliched. Just like 95% of all other video game villains.

i'm sure there are others but off the top of my head:

Where every other antagonist fails and/or dies in the end of the game. He wins. More importantly he actually is well written.

Bowser is a glorified kidnapper.

Some great villains are: Kane from C&C. You can't kill this guy, there's just no way.

The Necrons from Dawn of War. Less obvious from the zerg or any other of the classic "galaxy devouring hordes" but a pretty nasty one none the less.

Pyramid Head from Silent Hill 2. I bought this game yesterday and I'm absolutely terrified of this guy. Good thing I bought Pikmin also to take the edge off.

The Nazi's........ yeah....... I went there.

Bowser, Ganondorf, Dr. Eggman (he's great in the 2D games), Majora (not as iconic as the others, but he was devastating.)

And Count Bleck from SPM has one of the greatest character designs ever, not to mention he speaks in third person.

:lol: Even though Kefka is my favorite FF antagonist. (If were not counting FF tactics). Final Fantasy has some if not the worst written antagonists in JRPG genre. How any one can think Kefka is the greatest antagonist in the video game industry is beyond me.

than the other post, which I did realizes was about icon status. The quote above is still in the context of this threads topic, which is the "Greatest" (a.k.a best) And once a villian has failed as many times as bowser... you kinda stop taking him seriously. And what kind of villian goes golfing and go-karting with their sworn ememy?

Bowser is the most iconic of the last 20 years.

He has been in nearly every Mario title, all of which have sold millions of copies.

Sephiroth from FFVII is a very cliche villain, but he perfected the cliche he borrows from and remains one of the most popular villains ever.



Kefka (FFVI) remains probably the most insane and accomplished villain, as he actually did become ruler of the world, and change it to his liking.



Death from Castlevania also remains a series staple and is very well known, despite not being the main villain.



Ganondorf from The Legend of Zelda. An excellent recurring villain, who usually has some need for power. A different side of him was shown in The Legend of Zelda, the Wind Waker.



Another incredibly well known character since 1995, Kane is the recurring "villain" (depending which side you choose to play) in the Command and Conquer series of RTS games. He is also one of the more enigmatic characters in gaming.



Saturos. Just because I happened to name my GS account after him (from Golden Sun). He was a well told villain, especially when you found out his true motives.



Well, they're in no particular order, and I'm sure there are others out there that I forgot...but that's my list for now.

I hate that guy. He can survive like 8-10 headshots, which was unfair and unrealistic. Man, I had a really hard time with him :|

Sephiroth is the coolest villain, for sure.

2. Ganon - Zelda
3. Dr Robotnik (Eggman) - Sonic the Hedgehog
4. Goro - Mortal Kombat
5. 006 - Goldeneye

There's five for ya, there are so many bosses, but those are pretty recognizable.
