Greatest gaming franchise of all time

Mario, Metroid, and Pikmin would be my top choices.

P.S. I cannot believe what TC is saying about Metroid. He is completely unaware of that series. There are 7 games that fit into the main series timeline, and two spinoffs that I am aware of. Two games in this franchise are considered masterpieces by a very large amount of people for good reason: Super Metroid (SNES) and Metroid Prime(GCN).

Probably Zelda.

Zelda, Mass Effect and Diablo are my current favorites. I picked Sonic and Mario out of the ones you listed -- Mario is a legendary character and none of his platforming games have been bad. Sonic...well I used to love Sonic games but I don't think they have aged well and he has fallen on some rough times lately.

I find the lack of Metroid disturbing. Barely any franchises in the history of gaming have been consistent in quality for over two decades. Even Hunters despite being a really crappy Metroid, was still a very well-made game.

Zelda and Final Fantasy, and it sickens me that you would not put either of those on the poll.

But then again, considering your comments on the Metroid FRANCHISE, it doesn't really surprise me you didn't.

Zelda. I loved every game (except for 2) up until the gamecube when I stopped buying Nintendo products. I've enjoyed few games more, but no other series delivered the awesome like Zelda did. OoT and MM are still my favorite games ever.

I guess GTA because the player gets to do alot of things like stealing cars, weapons, etc.

S.t.a.l.k.e.r. series is the only single player i wasted my life on.

In terms of series i've enjoyed most across a long span of consoles......Zelda.

In terms of what is objectively 'the best' it's Mario because the numbers speak for themself.

In terms of people saying Halo, there going to look back in 20 years and think, Meh actually wasn't that good.

How is Mario not on the list? No other game franchise is even remotely close to Mario's influence and presence in the industry.

And yes Mario is a franchise. Hence the multitude of games and other things.
