Anyways, I think this might just be NA, or be mainly early 09 sales if anything. From what I hear the slim really turned things around.

And the lems will think he is right by ignoring the whole north America only thing lol. Gaming is not just on this one continent. It was the same in nov. When sys wars lems had a field day when they outsold ps3 by 110k in US ( but they neglected the rest of the world) and in reality ps3 out sells worldwide. There were and currently are articles about Nintendo needing to leave the Console business, and being doomed?? Who wrote them, SDF? :lol: The only article I remember of Sony being doomed featured Gabe Newell talking about Sony needing to stop PS3 production and do a "do over".

I personally think of the Xbox 360 and PS3 as dogs fighting on who can garner the most food scraps they find while the Wii has most of the food to itself. Regardless of who gets the most scraps, they both lose as the console that finishes first is the winner of the console war.

what is the one justification for regular video game consumers caring about sales? getting games that you want on the systems you have. since I live in NA, i am primarily concerned with NA sales.

that's the reason why people in NA most often use the npds, not look to worldwide sales.

if you were truly just interested in the success of a particular system, why not just use shipping numbers? always accurate and it's not like they won't get sold eventually.

yeah well i still think the playstation 3 is catching up, especially knowing how much got sold this christmas

Greenburg's a smart guy, he knows a large percentage of people that read his quote will misread his quote. It's a brilliant tactic...had I not seen him already do it before. United States NPD numbers is nice, but the General idea of the Headline of the thread and the people that quote Xbox Employee Greenburg will leave with this simple idea :

Xbox's Greenburg : 360 outsells PS3 for 2009!

It's a good headline even if it's only numbers from United States NPD...and he's doing his job he is paid to do well. ;) Xbox's Greenburg is an intelligent employee, earning his money, spinning his company news, and I applaud his efforts.

I'm not really into sales, honestly, especially since at this point, all three consoles are in the safe zone by large margins of 30+ millions of users (especially the 50+ Million Wii! :P )

While there's no European tracker, I recall both stating a 10 million userbase.
