such as? 67 different reviews come to a 95% average, including gamespots 8. Does that one 8 somehow mean that the other 66 are irrelevant? Is gamespot the overlord of game reviews? One of the highest selling games on the console, the second highest rated exclusive and it's a flop.... am I taking crazy pills here

so based on one persons review? Kind of a convenient way to pick and choose one's battles. Gamespots reviews are unprofessional at best

Please link the Ryse hype thread. I don't recall seeing one but you're not going to tell me it was more hyped than KZ:SF and TLOU are you? Both of those games were touted as "GOTG" "the next Half-life" I don't recall anything even close to that hype for Ryse.

My choices still stand and KZ:SF and TLOU.

This. I think people are misunderstanding this whole system. Yeah, Ryse got a terrible score. Far worse than KZ or TLOU. But, it's not as big of a flop because it wasn't all that hyped. There were a small handful of people who bought into the trailers, but for the most part everybody knew it going to be another of Crytek's glorified tech demos. Nobody honestly expected AAA. Most expected A, at best, and even that might be a stretch. The gameplay looked awful for a quite a long time before the systems even launched.

TLOU and KZ, on the other hand, were hyped like the second coming of Christ (albeit mostly because Sony fanboys have a tendency to do that with just about anything exclusive). So yeah, according to the silly rules of the SW metagame, TLOU and KZ getting 8 & 7 were bigger flops than Ryse getting 4. That doesn't mean they're worse games than Ryse, as they obviously are not. It just means they had much more hype which they failed to meet.

Well said. I haven't played KZ yet but I have played Ryse and TLOU, TLOU is by far the better game. Doesn't mean I think Ryse is terrible though. I enjoyed it very much and thought the 4 it got was a bit underrated.

This was the console's first year and it flopped amazingly.

For Ryse and knack it was more like eh this will probably get a 7 or 8, whatever, blah blah blah graphics. TLOU was like holy shit! GOTG, GOAT! and then everyone lost their shit when it got an 8 which is a great game.

Hype thread 2 = AAA 23%

Hype thread 3 = AAA 30%

Yep but those were mostly fanboys over hyping just to see it flop. I bet a lot were cows but you won't find 1 person that thought Ryse would be bigger than TLOU. In no way shape or form was Ryse given "GOTG, GOTY" type hype. It wasn't even close. You had most cows claiming KZ:SF would be better than Half-life or calling it the next Half-Life. The amount of damage control after both reviews tells the tale. No one even cared that Ryse got a 4 but not so for either of the other games.

All you have to do is see all the threads created by cows bitching about the scores.

My choices still stand as KZ:SF and TLOU. Not sure why you're trying to change my mind. It's just my opinion.

Probably TLOU. Had people understood how to hype things, though, GT6 would have been a safe bet. 7. Woof.

I wasn't trying to change anything, really. It's just you asked for a link to the hype thread, as have others, and I had some time to kill so I linked the ones I found for you.

Going by System Wars rules and the over hyping Cows TLOU and Kill zone Shadow fall were the biggest flops of the year. Personally TLOU was a great game. But Killzones campaign is a chore at best. And the game isn't even that pretty the majority of the time. Maybe one day Cows will learn to lay off the hype. But SDC, Thank you Sony and all that jazz.

@asylumni: Thanks for that. I wasn't going digging for it. I knew the truth, had nothing to prove. He seems to think because I stated Ryse did have a hype thread, I was one that believed Ryse was the biggest flop. I go with TLOU, as the Ryse Hype thread actually had a lot of unrealistic voting because cows got called out as cowards when the hyped KZSF AA after spamming this board for months with Pics. So quite a few on the lem side said AAA for Ryse, but it was all in fun. Not many really believed that game was going anywhere near a 9/10
