Don't see why you guys are talking as if this will be the end of quality titles for the PS2.  "Went out with a bang"...Pshh...not if Atlus has anything to say about it.  Odin Sphere and Grim Grimoire say otherwise.  You know where it's at, Atlus.  Show 'em the power of high-res 2D sprites and keep those quality titles coming.

With Gamesppots rating system a game has to be amazing to get a score like that on the PS2. I was expecting a 9.0 at the most from Gamespot.

yup 9.2 is a very good score, perfect way to end such a great system.

its 2 times loner than gow1 , so its more like 16-18 . this game also has a ton of replay value . so i dont understand what your saying

I think it should get the same score as GoW, but having
Old system.

If it was on PS3 on the other hand...

...it would have better graphics, sound design, and of course better game mechanics and camera. Thus making it a next-gen PS3 game that is awesome.

I imagine with the standards of graphics today they would have been hard pushed to give it a 10 even though it is on a "last gen" system.

Its a shame that SCEE have wiped this game from the release schedules. The reasoning that it would be buried by the PS3 is nonsense - everyone would have bought it to have a decent game for the PS3.

Great score. I had it at a 50/50 as to whether it would get the label of AAA. Those of you complaining... I don't even want to start because there's no reason for complaining about a 9.2 and to think it would get anything higher other than a couple points (so basically 9.5+) just left yourself vulnerable for disappointment (even though you shouldn't be disappointed). So once again God of War 2, great score and one likely deserving of it too. :)

Well, I hyped it AAA, and I don't usually hype games AAA so, im cool with da score. Plus, I had no reason to believe it was under AAA when literally all other sites that reviewed it gave AAA.

9 in graphics?  GameSpot judges PS2 graphics based on whatever bar is set by the PS2.  God of War 2 looks better than every other PS2 game...so based on GameSpot's own logic, the game should be a 10 in graphics.

Hyped AA. I knew from the time I said it it would score AAA. After I saw the new trailers I knew it was guaranteed.

Not only that, GOW 1 got a 8 in value, this one got 8 too, despite being almost 2X longer.

I doubt it's really 15 hours long. Remember when GS's RE4 review said it was roughly 25 hours long?

We'll all see in a day or 2. the length of a game is usually dictated by whether you're trying to race to the end of it or explore and enjoy. Take Kameo for instance: it lasted either 8 hours or 20 hours depending on how you played it. If they beat the game in 12 or 13 hours, are we going to say they didn't? :|
