Yeah, or cow damage control for Heavenly Sword, lemming for Halo 3, etc. I agree that GS has "guts" when it comes to reviewing games, in that they're pretty hard on them, but I think GS is generally a few points low on a lot of reviews.

IDK I'm begining to believe they think if they are more critical on some games and nit picky then that means they are the most detailed reviewer. That's the vibe I'm gettin lately.

I think they like to go against the current. We will do this because we want to be different. That could really bring more traffic, people flock over to see what the score will be next. Heh.

PDZ was a great mix of SP and MP, also it probably had the best weapons of any shooter in 2005 and obviously the best soundtrack of any shooter. It was a impressive game overall

Exactly. I agree I mean people moan when their game gets a "bad" review but in relation to other reviews on the site the good games still do well. So what if IGN gives a game a 9.5 or 10 and GS gives it an 8 or 8.5. They're 2 different scales weighed differently and I'm glad they dont overly praise games, besides it makes a 9.5 or 10 even more meaningful that way.

Though The Darkness was WAY overrated here.

btw it had its flaws, but the we say they say says it all

they really do wait for everyone else to review a game then come out with theirs and say "see!? we am teh pros at this!"

Yup. Matt C. is the man; A fanboy who won't pull punches when a game doesn't live up to the hype, butwho writes with almost childish excitement when it does. I've always liked Matt because, like the movie critic Roger Ebert, I don't always agree with what he says, but I understand where he's coming from, because his ideas are clearly stated, and well thought out. It's nice to see that level of scholarship exists, even among people who play video games for a living :P

I actually liked PDZ...It wasn't the greatest game ever, and it might not even have been a "great" game, but it was still perfectly enjoyable, and the graphics were pretty decent. Hell, it had an interestingcover system which worked in some ways like the one in Gears. So again, it doesn't deserve the hate heaped on it.

Actually, on occasion I find them to be more like movie critics. They find complaints just to have them rather than consider whether it actually hampers the game or decreases it fun. Ultimately the reviews should consider whether the game is fun and playable above all else.

no i played the game and it was garbage excuse for a next gen game, cod2 was a much much much better launch xbox 360 game, the only game i had any interest in at the consoles launch

the fact that recently no other site is agreeing with them scorewise leads me to believe that they are writing inaccurate reviews, not having more "guts". i guess by your definition i would have more guts than any review site if i write a player review for halo 3 and score it 1 before i even play it, right?the_wet_mop
