I'm liking the fact Dishonored is getting noticed, but I'm shocked Hitman: Absolution isn't there, at the moment that's my GOTY and it was an awesome game, GS's score was awfully wrong.

That's not good enough. You have to show your work, The_Game21x.No one does something just because. Again, you haven't even provided any logical reasons as to why they would seperate these categories. At the very least I can prove that they aren't equal. My theory is that they are seperated because they are not judged and viewed as the same. Of course, the fact that they have seperate sections on GS and that the editor in chief has said they review games by standards, just adds to my theory. You argue that it is flawed, but you:
1. Can't prove that it is not true.
2. Can't give other plausible scenarios as to why it would be wrong.
That's ok though. I'm fine with my argument and I'll let whoever reads this to make a decision for themself.
My argument is above, and I'll quickly summarize yours. "Cause they felt like it". I rest my case, have a great night.
senses_fail_06
Debating 101, junior. The burden of proof is on you for your claim that the reason they have sectioned these games off now is because they've finally decided that they're unequal.
So, again, I'll ask you for the proof you've failed to provide this entire argument. If you can't deliver that, trust me, I won't be surprised.

Good thing humans were born with a little thing called deductive reasoning. We aren't in science class and I don't have to explain to you why X = Y. We will never know unless it is clearly stated by the staff. We can only use what we know in this case. If you want to sit there, with your fingers in your ears, and barking at the moon, then be my guest. Again, I am done trying to prove anything toyou, as you are clearly hardheaded ...we'll let whoever reads this decide. My case at least follows logic drawing from things we know about GS and videogames (empirical evidence). All you have is "that wouldn't hold up in court" (no evidence).
My picks in red:
Best Fighting Game
Best Action Adeventure:
Best RPG
Best Shooter (lol Black Ops 2 not nominated)
Best Strategy Game
Best Racing
Best Sports Game
Best Platformer
Platform Awards
PC GOTY
PS3 GOTY
PSN GOTY
Xbox 360 GOTY
XBLA GOTY
Wii U GOTY
Handheld GOTY

Yes, I am stubborn but I'll willingly back down the instant someone shows me some incontrovertible proof to back up their claims. You haven't. All you've given me is a series of arguments and "deductions" based on assumptions. When you have something more concrete than "Well, I think this is the case so it must be", let me know. Maybe then you'll be worth my time.
But sure, go proclaim victory to the herd and keep living in your fantasy world in which your opinion is right for everyone. I'll keep living in reality, where anyone with a working brain can see how full of it you are.

Don't feel bad, dogs can't use deductive reasoning either. Again, this is real life, not the court room. And I doubt (and hope not) you actually believe what you are saying, that was obvious when you couldn't offer up any reasoning of your own as to why they would be separated.
It's fitting that you bring up a fantasy world. All things considering, if you needed proof beyond a shadow of a doubt for everything you wouldn't be able to function today.
My theory is reasonable and sound. I'll relinquish the fact that it is just a theory, if that gets you off your kick of trying to reduce everything to "if I don't see it, I can't understand it". It can't be proven right, you are 100% right, but you'll also never be able to prove it wrong. I believe the surrounding empirical evidence would tip my side of the scale from any outsider who would actually take reason and logic into account. You can disagree, but again, be sure your doing say as a person and not as a big f*cking lemming.
I'm going to continue to scream my theory on it in SW and if you find it so offensive and fallacious, then surely you will soon have a way to prove it wrong.
Pretty dismal year. I'd give my vote to Sonic & All Stars for best racer, and Halo 4 for best shooter/xbox game.

K.O.
Two years in a row with no PS3 exclusives being nominated for Best PS3 game. :lol:Stevo_the_gamer
At least the PS3 managed to grab two GOTY winners. How many did the 360 get? Oh righ... NONE (Gears isnt an exclusive anymore)
MGS4 (2008)
Demon's Souls (2009)
Also, overall, the PS3 exclusives managed to have more GOTY nominations since the start of this gen than the 360 ones (again, theres no such thing as "console exclusives")
Didn't expect the cow damage control would already be up and running in this thread. Guess two years without any exclusives even being nominated for its own platform would leave them a little butthurt.

So because it won GOTY a few years ago means that makes up for the no exclusives? Does that logic work for the Xbox 360 and its lack of games next year? lol. Here I thought you would be semi-capable of putting up a decent argument, come to find out that you can't. Sad.
Thank you for acknowledging that your argument is just a theory, as I've been saying the entire thread. An argument based on a series of assumptions that you can't prove. Reasonable? Perhaps, but you can't prove your theory any more than you can disprove mine.
For years they have included PSN/XBLA games in the same category as retail titles. It is no more reasonable to say they suddenly decided that the games were unequal than to say they merely wanted a change of pace. Think my assumption is less reasonable? Go ahead and disprove it. That's what I was asking for you moron, something that would give your theory more credence than mine, which you haven't provided.
And you think I'm arguing this because I'm a "lemming"? Heck, lumping Journey in with the PS3's other games benefits the PS3. Don't you think that would be contrary to my "lemming" argument or are you too stupid to have figured that out as well?
And have fun screaming your theory if it makes you feel better. We're all free to voice our opinions here, right? I mean, it won't change anything for the rest of us, but at least all will be well in your delusional fanboy world, right?

If they were even, which they are in the sense that they are both games, then they would all be in the same column.
Explain to me why they wouldn't all be in the same column.
And yet those downloadable games end up on the Game of the Year list. I'm basing my whole argument on a person's ability to use common deductions. This is how the world functions, this is the basis for all arguments. This happens in court, in forums, and in life. Judge's make decisions based upon evidence they have from both sides. Cases aren't thrown out because they don't have video footage. There isn't a cop, angel, or mythical being whispering into the judge's ear, "give the wife the kids in the divorce".
I've already explained what evidence I have. KVO has publicly said games are reviewed on different standards. You can go on GS right now and find a separate category for XBLA games. Then the actual games itself. Their cheaper, have smaller budgets, and are created differently. They often include one core mechanic and just work off of it for the 3-4 hours the game exists. Now, the separation of the groups on GotY categories just further backs up my argument. Again, you have no reasonable idea as to why they are separated, and no, "cause so" does not work. There has to be some kind of motivation as to why they are clearly separating them.
I propose:
Logical, simple, and applicable to the situation.
Now let us check your paper:
No logic, confusing, and has no reasonable application to this assignment.
Of course, I don't expect you to see it my way or to even consider it for that matter. I've come to realize (very quickly off of simple deductions .) that you are a bottom feeding lemming with no ability to reason. That's fine, I have given up trying to convince you. It's the equivalent of a Democratic presidential nominee visiting Texas, no reason to do so because they are already stuck in their ways and have had their decisions made up since day 1.
On a side note, stop using what they did in the past to try and help your argument. It doesn't help, at all. What happened in the past is in the past and it is no longer precedent as we have new *law* to fall back on. If anything, it just shows us that they have finally found a more accurate way to replace the archaic system.
RPG or not a RPG is still the lamest discussion on this forum. Plus there is anytime Gran Snorizmo is being compared to Borza. jg4xchamp
Nuh uh. With those there's at least the offhand chance of someone producing a rational point or worthwhile criticism. This is arguing whether the mode of delivery has some profound effect on the audience's enjoyment of the game for the sake of a forum pissing-contest.
Look at what a lem circle jerk this has begun in just a matter of hours.

Because everyone who disagrees with you must automatically be a lemming. Logical deduction you have there.
Let me guess, you can't prove that assumption either?

On a side note, stop using what they did in the past to try and help your argument. It doesn't help, at all. What happened in the past is in the past and it is no longer precedent as we have new *law* to fall back on. If anything, it just shows us that they have finally found a more accurate way to replace the archaic system.

Adorable. You created a few pictures to further illustrate how flimsy your argument is. It's amazing how blind you are to the fact that your argument, though reasonable, is based on nothing but your own deductions.
I'm not going to argue this point anymore because I can't make this any more clear. If you don't understand this by this point I'm going to conclude that you're about as intelligent and reasonable as a brick.
I'm also going to conclude that you have no knowledge whatsoever of logic and reason because what you've done is committed the logical fallacy known as affirming the consequent.
What you're saying is If the games are unequal, they will be in separate columns, the games are in separate columns, therefore they are unequal, which is inherently fallacious you twit.
And if an argument is fallacious, it isn't logical.
So there goes your claim that your argument is logical. What else have you got?
But when they announce the overall Game of the Year nominations in the coming days, weeks, whatever and Journey and/or The Walking Dead are on that list among retail games, be sure to stick to your guns and still maintain that GS did this because they don't view the games equally! Wouldn't want to be a sore loser, would you? I'm sure the others who so adamantly opposed the inclusion of downloadable games in the metagame will be there to reassure you! Who were they again? Ah yes, Eddie-Vedder and Kuraimen. Such illustrious and intelligent company you keep!
