Well it could if you want to flip through 6 disks worth of content.

It is said that the game uses nearly all the space on the Blu-Ray.

so you fanboys shouldn't be complaining about standard cars.

Whenever any developer makes this claim you should take it with a pinch of salt. Remember that PS3 launch game Genji? The one with the giant enemy crabs? Yeah, THAT game's developers said it could only be done on PS3. Do we believe them? Heck no.

EDIT: Nothing in that link says the game cannot be done on the 360. So... yeah.

I don't see why it couldn't. I'm sure there's a lot of needless space being used on that Blu-ray disk like most games that take up "all the space." Compression techniques are extremely good now-a-days.

Wow. I take two things from this: -The required install will be massive -The load times will be lengthy Or both, using GT5P as a base.

Im sure there will be a install. I highly doubt Poly would let long load times slide. On topic, im sure GT5 could be done on 360 with 5 discs and inferior graphics.

I believe its not Possible on any other console for legal reasons Sony owns the IP. Technically, of course it is possible on the 360, And wii if you want, performance is a competely different matter since Polyphony built the engine from scratch for the PS3.

You are kinda contradicting yourself there. Your title says it cannot be done, and then your first sentence says it could be done. :|

Do you belive that?

I do. I went through my library of GT4 photomode pictures the other day and many of them could be substituted with shots of GT5's standard cars online and no one would notice a difference.

I doubt that to be honest. I really cant see Polyphony just wholesale transferring cars from a PS2 game into GT5. They'll have added graphical details along the way.

So the photomode cars from gt4 look like ingame cars in GT5?

Maybe, but I haven't seen anything mindblowing just yet.

This is the only one I have online - other than the ugly background it could pass for a shot from a GT5 video. It's got the same low res textures on the cars, the same textured headlights, etc.

If they used actual compression methods, ie, compress audio without any noticable loss, it could probably fit on 2 discs. The game looks like ass so technically it could be achieved. Disc space is the only problem.

I can't post images, but in another thread a GT5 bullshot was comparable to Forza 1 for the Xbox, graphically.

I'm sorry but what PC series really has that much detail in their cars? GTR doesn't even come close and that usually seems to be the ONE racing game that Hermits like to pull out when comparing Sim Racers. Please enlighten me (as well as many others in SW)?

Here are some more for comparison:

http://ui10.gamespot.com/521/cougar_2.jpg

I'm sure that replay-mode bull**** aside the GT5 standard cars will hold up better, but nonetheless it's more than a little worrying.

Obviously it's can't be done on a 360, it's coded specifically for the PS3 ;) Also, how come every 1st party dev says "We've used most/all the space blu-ray has to offer" is it a pre-requisite to develop exclusives for PS3? BTW, upres'd PS2 cars don't impress me

Alan Wake's gameplay was stimated to occupy only 2 GB. there's something called compression and don't forget we had to swap cd and discs with the previous playstations as well.
