So, I have been hearing the Lemmings run their mouth constantly on how Forza 2 is more realistic than GT5, and how they think Forza is their first choice in racing...etc. on the other hand, Cows are saying the same thing about GT5, so I decided to test the waters on both ends to see which one actually is more realistic than the other as far as the driving go and nothing else. I own both games, so I decided to use the same car (Mitsubishi Evo) on Suzuka track to see which one is better.

I found that GT5 is definitely more realistic. Although I really like Forza 2, I think the car's physics in it are far from being realistic. The evo in Forza pretty much drove just like every other car I had driven. It doesn't feel like a 4-wheel drive car. It takes corners with ease and with almost no drift to the outside even though 4WD cars are known to do that on truns. in GT, I had simulation in professional mode, and the care drove exactly as all 4WD cars should. It seemed to me that the physics in GT5 is way more impressive and you get more feed from the road than Forza2. to be more honest the car in Forza 2 felt like a floating boat after jumping to it from GT.

Forza 2 on the bright side felt a little more fun to drive though. I got a better sense of speed out of it than GT.

My time is better in Forza because the evo in forza 2 has more standard HP than the evo in GT (like 30 more horeses)

I have yet to play GT5 Prologue, although i have played the *** Demo, and i felt Forza 2 was much better in the Technical Dept.

I have owned all Gran Turismo games from GT - GT4, and I still own Gran Turismo 3 and 4, Forza 2 is better than all the Gran Turismo games i have ever owned in every single way, if it stacks up to GT5 remains to be seen, as its going to be a while before its out yet.

I wont Deny that GT 5 Prologue and GT5 look much better than Forza, and they do have different feels overall, Until i try both games with a good wheel and compare them to real life, i really dont know which is the better game.

No doubt some Hermit is going to ruin this thread talking about GTR and the like,

It has better driving physics yes, but it will be released a year later. However, what about Forza 3 vs. GT5? That's the real fight here.

Yeah but the full GT5 isn't even out lol.

We can compare Forza 2 to Prologue Spec II.

Then we can compare Forza 3 with Gran Turismo 5.

I liked the first Forza. But do not like Forza 2 at all.

I have almost no emotion while I (tryed)to play that game.

I would take GT5P any day over forza 2, much less the full game. But PGR still makes for the best racing so far this gen.

That was an awesome launch title and the game that made me fall in love with the behind the wheel view.

Let me know when you can crash into a car at full speed and just keep going like nothing happened.

I find it laughable that people would call Prologue more realistic and ignore that one important fact.
Prologue has a more realistic feel to it than Forza 2 and the presentation is stellar, but I just think it all boils down to both games have certain advantages over the other in certain areas of realism. Although it isn't realistc at all, Forza 2 does at least have a full working damage component to it's gameplay, Prologue does not.

if i was comparing forza with the previos gran turismos i would probably go with forza. but gt5s driving model just amazes me and is so much fun. they outdone themselves with the updates physics here. i prefer gt5p over forza

Crashes and car damage don't make the racing aspect realistic. After all it is a racer. I spent all morning playing Prologue and was thoroughly impressed. There is serious penalties for not driving the way you are supposed to. You can't just bump your way to the finish. You can't cut corners (figuratively). It's very realistic.

I made this thread to compare the physics of both games. Yeah Forza has car damage in it, ok. That does not make it the better choice for real car inthusiasts looking for a real driving simulator. Forza 2 is no where near the level of GT5 Prologue as far as physics go. I personally would much rather have physics over damage, Plus GT5, the full game, might actually have damage in it.

People always make the mistake of comparing only realism in racing sims, sure GT is slightly more realistic than Forza when it comes to physics and the car models but FOrza leaves GT in the dust when it comes to features, customization, and its already deeply established online community. I just fine FOrza much more fun than Gran Turismo.

There's not much point posting screens because it's clear GT5 looks much better.

Forza 2 is a hell of a game tho, very deep.

Funny wasnt it GT5P leaves Forza 2 in the dust when it comes to graphics but Forza 2 has the better car physics, but now that Forza 2 has neither the main selling points are online and customization?

Why bash that statement? I really like PGR, I have liked it since it was Metropolis Street Racer (best game in the series still IMO)on the DC. I like Forza, too. But I like the driving in GT5P better then either of those games.

Forza 2 was not a good game IMO. I would take the GT "demo" over Forza 2 any day.

I have had a lot more fun racing GT5P online then I have had racing Forza 2. Not as much fun as I have had with the Moto GP games on the xbox consoles, but more then Forza 2 or PGR.

Personally, I believe we should wait for for Gran Turismo 5 to be released itself. Gran Turismo 5: Prologue is just the appetizer to the meal, and that is why I believe Forza 2 is the better racer for the moment. We just hjave to wait for the real deal to be released.

Yeah, I never said FOrza had better physics or graphics so I don't know what you're drawing from, but yeah I do think that FOrza has better features, customization, and online modes/community than Gran Turismo ever will because its already so behind. BTW even Gran Turismo's creator Kazunori Yamauchi agrees with me. LINK

Yamauchi: Straight off the bat, I think that in terms of feature sets, Forza is ahead of us. They have more options, you can do basically anything. We take a different approach obviously - we try to concentrate on what are the core values for a racing game, and we try to elevate those standards up as high as we possibly can. I am having difficulty trying to explain the differences, but one way you can look at it is, you can buy a watch that is super multifunctional, but economical, or a watch that is reduced in functions, but premium - higher end

Don't try and lump me in some kind of rabid fan base, especially when you have no idea who you're talking to, you know what they say about people that make too many assumptions right?

honestly, do people even care about damage anymore?

wihch one would you prefer for a game:

a car running at 150 mph hitting the wall with only a dent or nothing at all..??

the reason i asked is cuz a car running even only at 40-50 mph can pretty much blow up into pieces

btw, Polyphony mentioned before that there's going to a be a car damage patch for GT5P soon and it will be a realistic damage.. so i'm guessing Destruction Derby like?
