Grid looks good, indeed, but I have to admit, GT5p looks WAY better, graphical wise.

cmon fanboys, dont deny this. you cant just simply tell Grid is better because of the damage, wat about the features? the simulation? the gameplay?

def_mode

yeah, the reviews are saying its better in those respects too

I guess I'm the only REAL gamer.

Why don't the rest of you casuals try exercising some CONSUMER POWER! Wow, if more developers could get away with this crap just think where the industry would go.

Because of the huge amount of manafacturers whos cars are in the game - dont want them destoryed.

In this day and age its a fairly weak excuse though, almost as bad as sega paying Pizza Hut, and KFC to be in Crazy Taxi - in terms of companies and the game itself.

Thought so. Just wanted confirmation XD

I hate when they say Bu-bu-but the cheap! If I pay the same price for the same game on the two platforms, I expect to be able to play online like the others do. For fancy stuff like achievements and all that, they can charge if they want, as it's some kind of extra service LIVE is giving. But for "just gaming online", I don't see why they are charging...

Oh yes, I see it. Basically, no one would pay for LIVE gold if online gaming wasn't in the package.

Well, GRID is a more an arcade racer so I'm not sure why we're comparing it to a simulator. Burnout Paradise would be a better comparison.

Well the main problem with Live Gold is that everything on Live - bar playing games online, and certain demos (and priced marketplace content) is completely free. All Live Gold does is allow me to play my games online.
Indeed if there was extra services, content ect. might make it worth it, hell MS could have the courtesy to remove all the ads.

In a nutshel yes you are completely right. if it wasent for online gaming being held to ransom, we woudlent pay for Live Gold.

And for me, the main problem is they are migrating it into PC, slowly, with the exclusive titles. And people can't see they are helping to build a mad monopoly over virtual stuff where they put little infrastructure with an overpriced cost. I hope MS doesn't succeed in this mad experiment. But seeing how some customers are agreeing with the price, and paying gladly for it, I just get goosebumps.

Ms have tried with Windows Live, and honestly i think even MS knows its a train wreck. PC gamers are just going to keep sticking to Xfire (over 10 million users) and Steam (over 15 million), there simply isnt any point for an inferiour gimped service that no one uses.

Yeah, but what if the games it gets are uber awesome, and exclusive to PC (not 360), yet it runs under LIVE. The problem is being forced. Missing out the game, or joining the monopoly. But it won't become mainstream, EVER (I hope)

Well honestly no developers seem to be jumping on GFWL at all.. Heck the only notable games I can think of on GFWL is GeOW and Universe at War - though I guess Halo 2 and Shadowrun are on there also.
Honestly I wouldent even bother worrying about it, even games like WiC that were under GFW didnt even use GFWL.

I think the problem with the lack of dmg, is the unrealistic racing it leads too. GT5 Pro, does everything right from a technical level, Forza doesn't even have drafting, but you race in Forza and apparentely Grid as well looking to avoid the competition, and the walls. That's not the case in Gt5 Pro where I score my best times avoiding breaking, driving the apex, and using the walls and opposition as bumpers.

i thought where gran turismo used real car brands, that they werent allowed to put damage modeling in because they would lose sponsorship and many companies would pull their brands out of gran turisimo (this used to be the case, because the companies didnt want their cars to be trashed in the game (i read an article about it back when gran tursimo 1 came out, i forget where though)

i hope they do add damage modeling, ill become a fan again if they do.

GRID on my PC running on MAX with 16X AA looks better than GT5p, and also runs at a higher framerate. So technically GRID is the better looking game.

It seems that *some people* are avoiding this thread like the plague. It's funny how quickly all the GT5P hype died down after the 7.5 score was released.

What GT5P Hype? Most of us never even knew it would get reviewed, the hype is for GT5.

About an average of 50-60 FPS, never has dropped below 30 even with 20 cars on screen.

My PC specs are...

8800GT (OCed 700/1990/1750)

2gigs DDR2 memory.

Athlon X2 4000+ (OCed to 2.6GHZ)

Here's a pic i took just afew hours ago, the only difference between this pic and gameplay is no blur is added to this pic, so i guess you could say it looks even better in-game is you prefer motion blur...

As you can see there is practically no visible aliasing. I don't have a pic with the framerate in the corner to prove what i said but you could ask any other PC gamer with a similar system and they will confirm what I'm saying.

Yes I have. GT5P does look great without a doubt. But the screen tearing and empty looking worlds are pitiful. Grid moves so fast and yet so smooth! Maybe when the real GT5 releases they'll have the screen tearing fixed.

GT5 is not a real sim

The series never has been. Its always been more acessable over pure simulation.

Now GTR2, that is a real sim.

Okay, then you failed in one point. GT5p does run at 60fps. So don't say MORE. Grid, on the other side, does run at 30fps on consoles.

Why the heck can GRID have damage (that affects gameplay and done pretty well) and NOT GT5p????????????

I mean, given the fact that GT5P is just a demo, shouldn't they have been able to implement damage? I know GRID has less cars, but it is a FULL GAME so you can't argue that there is more substance to GT5p.

septicvirus

The definition of Prologue: any introductry proceeding, event etc.Appetizing delicaces where the prologue to a long dinner.

Why is GT5P being constantly compared to full games?I bought and love it,the lack of damadge is annoying but it far from spoils the game.

And if you think its not good value for money DONT BUY THE GAME!

I think thats BS(not directed at you), i mean, what about games that use the same cars that are in GT5P that have damage? PGR4, Forza 2, GRID, GTR2? they all have damage. it HAS to be some other reason. It just doesnt make any sense for the manufacturers to just say they dont want damage in one game when 50 other ones have it

It really is not all about the bumper cars....

It is not having any consequence for your driving skill..When there is none you play the game loose..you don't think twice about diving in and quarter paneling a player or clipping a corner @ 80..You bounce off of whatever and you continue playing...with no effect to your car..That mindset completely ruins the immersion. When there are consequences you feel you have to make the turn proper or the rest of the lap/game is shot due to the car pulling or the aero is off...

It is no different than playing a FPS on "god" mode where you do not die...You pop out... take rounds and you don't care because there are no consequences for your actions.. Same for the flight sim analogy...If you knew that you could never crash the plane and end the experience...How fun is that?

FM2 does what GT has never done...given the player that sense of urgency that if you are not on point with your driving ability you will not complete the game..

One of the biggest accomplishments I have felt in playing a game is driving the endurance race at Nordschleife in FM2..If you are not familiar with it..the track is 7 miles, fast wide open corners.. narrow lanes.. Popping in and out of slow banked corners...Lap times are about 7:30 on the conservative side..To finish the round you need to do 7 laps..Close to an hour long race..

Your tires wear which makes you car push and fuel is consumed...You can not hit anything and pit proper or you will loose..That sense of urgency makes the game..That makes you push when you can and pucker up when you have a close call..because you know if you don't make a proper pass or go hot into a corner in lap 6 yea got to start all over again.. And when you do everything right... it feels good...Without the "damage" at the end of the day it would be just turning laps and that's not for me.

For me I do not get that feeling from GT5P...and that sucks... because the game looks great and drives well..but with that important element missing..the game feels hollow and meaningless..

Other than hearing that damage is a "prospect" in a fall update..I don't see anywhere that they confirmed for fact that it will be implemented.. I really do hope they add that game play feature this fall..and ultimately in GT5..because without it...that is a shame..

yeah, because you're pro 360 and anti ps3. So it's a no brainer that you'll put down GT5p (a ps3 exclusive) in one of it's biggest strenghts

I have GT5 and both a PS3 and XBOX360 (and Wii) and yes, grid looks better. The only thing in GT5 that looks good are the cars. The environments are just bad, Cross-planed trees, buildings that are flat planes, lighting that is just bland, in car view without reflections on the wind shield.

I think his eyes are telling the truth. ;)

yeah, because you're pro 360 and anti ps3.

I also own both, but nothing from Grid can compete with the London level in GT5P.

Also, Damage was confirmed long ago. You're stupid not to read the interviews where the damage has already gone into practice and asking car companies for permission to add damage in. Why do you think Forza + Grid Lacks prestige cars like Jaguar XJ220 and some of the rear ****cs? Also, the damage and weather effects are free downloads anyway, so this thread is stupid and pointless.

1080p>720p

60fps>30fps

Cars>backgrounds

And the backgrounds, even if they aren't ZOMG-HIGH-POLY, deliver, in terms of realism and composition.

Huh? GT5p is upscaled. Its not true 1080p and probably not even true 720p like the every other 360 and PS3 game. I can see your point with the 30fps thing, I like 60fps too. My guess is that Codemasters had some trouble getting their engine to run at 60fps with their damage physics system on consoles. Runs at 60fps+ on the PC though, but that is a given. So you are admitting that the GT5p backgrounds blow? The main attraction should be the cars and the backgrounds not just one over the other. But I suppose that the background sacrifice was needed to keep GT5 running smoothly.

I think GRID is a great Arcade Racer. I enjoy Arcade more so then Sim because driving on a Racetrack isn't illegel in real life I can do it when I want. GRID is a fast fun enjoyable racing game. Great Car crashes, Decent Online, Awesome Soundtrack, Very Nice graphics.

your argument is just as stupid as saying "have you seen the cars in Grid? they look rubbish compared to GT5". You play a car game for racing, not to stop during the race and pull out your magnifying glass to see the textures of the game. I mean seriously, are you that sad you actually stopped during a race to check if the buildings are 2d?

Also, Grid is more of an arcade Sim than anything else. It should be competiing against NFS more than GT.
