I recently began replaying the game and it seems that Niko really walks slow and is clunky in his movements, especially with gun to gun combat. There is no doubt that the combat has improved, but I still feel like the actual game is hindering my ability to kill people, this is certainly not worthy of a AAAA (AAA tho). Anyone else have this problem

i never had an issue with the aiming other than aiming at the wrong people in close quarters lol. My only issue was with the lag in the jumping animations, but other than that, the game was awesome.

It's better than the previous GTAs, but that's not saying much.

It has some of the suckiest shooting I've ever seen, the movement overall is hella clunky, a grand example of gameplay being sacrificed for presentation.

It is incredibly clunky, I hated the shooting when I first played the game. I got somewhat used to it, though.

Felt similar to Uncharted. It wasn't the best, but it was fine. It'll be improved in newer games.

play it on PC, and the gunplay is much better.

Game is still horrible though imo. For a 10/10 rated game.

I never had much problems with combat/movement. There is a small delay do to the not so great frame rate, but it wasn't too bad.

The shooting sucked because it was designed for auto aim.

The GTA games have never had good shooting mechanics. Can't say it's ever bothered me, though.

What I hated the most was the delay when switching weapons.

That, and taking cover was clunky.

The entire game was slow. Niko's animations just felt so sluggish, I really just didn't have fun:(

GTA4's shooting is fail, i love everything else though. Especially the driving, i get extremely agitated when someone says GTA4's driving is bad when it's miiiiiiiiiiles ahead of the previous GTA's. Now I can't even play the previous GTA's without feeling like it's so cartoony and easy. GTA4 is the best in the series imo other than the boring over the shoulder copycat style. Also the L2/R2 stuff pissed me off too but I got used to it.

The GTA series has always been a series that never excelled a one thing, but did a good enough job in every department. It's a Jack of all trades sort of deal.

I thought it was kind of dumb when you didn't have a close range weapon out, like a sniper rifle, and all of a sudden a guy starts shooting you from 5 feet away and you start fumbling around trying to live, but usually end up dying. The weapon changing was pretty atrocious. Also no melee button is pretty bad.

Niko has weight to his movement, which feels alot more real. It works well with the physics engine and how reactive it is to a.i.

The general shooting combat is clumsy and slow and Niko's turning is definitely slow and doesn't allow for very small or fine movement. The hand to hand combat is terrible and just isn't any fun at all. The camera is a bit meh and is often a bit annoying such as with the cars where it keeps resetting to a position that is just a little bit too high. There are quite a lot of little issues like that in the game which could do with some more polish.

They really should of done what Gears of War and a lot of games are doing with the whole picking weapons thing. Changing weapons is a pain in the arse in GTA IV.

I preferred the combat/cover system in GT4 more than Mass Effect (which I think Iwas more clunky and awkward.)

I only had problems with the online portions of the game.

This is coming from somebody who thought that Gears did the cover system wrong.

It is sluggish, you notice especially during indoor shooting missions. Takes like 2 seconds since pressing to see the action on screen.
