Yes. Still, I find that WAY better than to upgrade your PC every year for ~ $1000. :?

If he wants to max everything out, which is what this thread is about, a $1000 per year is pretty accurate.
How does it run? Also, what kind of other specs you running to keep it smooth? Remember, most console players need to build a PC from scratch. You've got $400 to work with. Remember, no monitor, no keyboard, no mouse because you will need all new stuff, espcially if it is a family PC that they are on and they cant steal their family's computer parts.
I'm only going off of my own experiance. $400 isn't enough to fully build a PC. I used $1500 for everything, and I was able to steal a mouse and keyboard from a friend.

Not trying to troll, but if you can still manage to max everything with a 2 year old machine, doesn't that imply that you already paid for a monster machine that probably cost you thousands of dollars ? That's still a LOT more expensive than a console and an HDTV.
And my version's the best because I can play it at 2560x1600? ;)Consolites beat this game months ago. Why should they care? It's the same game at a higher resolution, big whoop.
I guess my version is better than yours if I can play it @ 1920X1080 then?

[QUOTE="_rpg_FAN"][QUOTE="heretrix"]You cant play it @ 1920 x 1080 GTA4 on consoles is ~ 720 p upscaled Playing it @ native 1600 x 1200 + is ridiculously niceI can on my PC. He can't. Resolution isnt the only think better
textures are also better LINK
Also gta4 on PC is $40
But nontheless this is a pretty mediocre port to pc ( a lot of people having performance problems especially ati card owners ). Also the graphiscs quality of gta4 doesnt justify the high system requirements since you need a 768mb card to set textures to high ( you can set them to high with 512 mb modifying the config file but you loose a lot of performance)
I play crysis on high at the same resolution and get 35fps average on my 8800gt i should be able to atleast pull 45-50 fps on gta4 and not 35
I don't see whats your point here. The majority of my friends play on PC. Thats like saying PC has a low user base which it dosen't.Yeah ok...

Why isn't the texture quality "highest" and the graphics should be 1920 by 1200 because the 360 can upscale to 1080p. ALSO, 37.1 average FPS isn't that great, that means it will go below 30fps in spots. Maxed out this is notmunu9Upscaling is not the same as the real thing. And you don't have to max a game out by res. And the poor FPS is nothing but Rockstars poor coding with this game.

No you have no idea what your talking about if you ask me. I can build my own High-end PC for about 800$ and that would last me 3 years.(or the whole generation if I don't care about res. and AA/AF)Higher resolution, longer view distance and LOD pop-in, twice the number of players, replay editor, integrated custom music and inevitable mods. It is a big whoop, if your PC can handle it. Mine should be able to run it at around 30FPS average with settings maxed judging by this benchmark, but I don't trust my PC, 30FPS with medium settings more like.Consolites beat this game months ago. You are mis informed if you think it costs thousands of dollars. This arguement has been crushed to dust but console users still bring it up every now and then. Saying a PC High-end system costing 2000$ is just fanboyish. Granted that PC gameing is more expensive(unless you count consoles using HD-Tv) But its does not cost 1000$ to build a gaming machine.[QUOTE="heretrix"]Higher resolution, longer view distance and LOD pop-in, twice the number of players, replay editor, integrated custom music and inevitable mods. 1. Consoles don't release every year
2. $500 = $1000/2
So let me see how pc gaming cost 1000 a year if ibuild a rig 2years ago with a geforce 8800gts 640mb (qhich was about 250 ) at a price of $850 and that geforce can max almost every game out ther at 1280x1024 and most of games even at 1680x1024? Also i will probably change that card in 5-6 months for a $150vga like 4850 and add an extra 2gb for 30 so thats $1000 and that rig will last 4-5 years from the day i build it ( according to you i should have paid 5000).Also do consider that pc games cost 50 while many games and in these case gta4 40. So a ps3 is 500 plus 600 a year for 10 games while a pc is 1000 plus about 450 for 10 games a year. in 5 years ps3=3500 Pc=3250 ( and i do play games with better graphics and free mods)
Now explain again how is pc gaming cost more?

agreed. those stats look highly suspicious with an 8800gt. my 8800gtx wont let me get anywhere near max settings

not 'alot' no, when i got my system was when the PS3 cost 600, so a PS3 + HDTV would have cost more than my 1.1k rigwich was a full rebuild because my old mobo didn't have PCIe slots. my ram is full, my sound card is good, so the only thing i will be spendign any money on, untill my cpu is a pile of junk, wil be vid cards.
4-5 years from now ill probably get a new mobo+cpu, but everythign else i have will just transfer over

I can't believe that games like Crysis and now GTA 4 you have to wait until the hardware becomes more powerful. I bet the same thing happens for Alan Wake, Project offset. Hermits talk about DX11 like that is going to happen anytime soon least the games you can actual play.

Current hardware can easily max out Crysis, and the problems with GTAIV aren't due to hardware, but awful optimization. Even if some Hermits can't play the game at max settings, they still play the game with much better and cleaner graphics than console players.
