GTA IV PC MAXED on a $120 video card. What's up now, consolites?

How does it run? Also, what kind of other specs you running to keep it smooth? Remember, most console players need to build a PC from scratch. You've got $400 to work with. Remember, no monitor, no keyboard, no mouse because you will need all new stuff, espcially if it is a family PC that they are on and they cant steal their family's computer parts.

I'm only going off of my own experiance. $400 isn't enough to fully build a PC. I used $1500 for everything, and I was able to steal a mouse and keyboard from a friend.

1. Consoles don't release every year

2. $500 = $1000/2

i max everything out with my 2 yr old system. it can last me another 2 or so but im getting a 280GTX so it will last me another 4 or maxing everythingshadow_hosi

Not trying to troll, but if you can still manage to max everything with a 2 year old machine, doesn't that imply that you already paid for a monster machine that probably cost you thousands of dollars ? That's still a LOT more expensive than a console and an HDTV.

Consolites beat this game months ago. Why should they care? It's the same game at a higher resolution, big whoop.

I guess my version is better than yours if I can play it @ 1920X1080 then?

Resolution isnt the only think better

textures are also better LINK

Also gta4 on PC is $40

But nontheless this is a pretty mediocre port to pc ( a lot of people having performance problems especially ati card owners ). Also the graphiscs quality of gta4 doesnt justify the high system requirements since you need a 768mb card to set textures to high ( you can set them to high with 512 mb modifying the config file but you loose a lot of performance)

I play crysis on high at the same resolution and get 35fps average on my 8800gt i should be able to atleast pull 45-50 fps on gta4 and not 35

Why isn't the texture quality "highest" and the graphics should be 1920 by 1200 because the 360 can upscale to 1080p. ALSO, 37.1 average FPS isn't that great, that means it will go below 30fps in spots. Maxed out this is notmunu9

Also do consider that pc games cost 50 while many games and in these case gta4 40. So a ps3 is 500 plus 600 a year for 10 games while a pc is 1000 plus about 450 for 10 games a year. in 5 years ps3=3500 Pc=3250 ( and i do play games with better graphics and free mods)

Now explain again how is pc gaming cost more?

Don't trust the benchmarks at all. people with High-end systems are having trouble playing this at low setting. Its all Rockstars bad codeing with this game overall.JangoWuzHere

agreed. those stats look highly suspicious with an 8800gt. my 8800gtx wont let me get anywhere near max settings

wich was a full rebuild because my old mobo didn't have PCIe slots. my ram is full, my sound card is good, so the only thing i will be spendign any money on, untill my cpu is a pile of junk, wil be vid cards.

4-5 years from now ill probably get a new mobo+cpu, but everythign else i have will just transfer over

The PC version on medium settings looks on par with the console versions, people can play on those settings just fine with better AA, larger draw-distance and higher resolutions. Not to mention 32 player multiplayer and the replay editor. The higher settings are what some people seem to be having trouble with, and those settings simply blow away the console versions.

I can't believe that games like Crysis and now GTA 4 you have to wait until the hardware becomes more powerful. I bet the same thing happens for Alan Wake, Project offset. Hermits talk about DX11 like that is going to happen anytime soon least the games you can actual play.

Current hardware can easily max out Crysis, and the problems with GTAIV aren't due to hardware, but awful optimization. Even if some Hermits can't play the game at max settings, they still play the game with much better and cleaner graphics than console players.
