no xbox one has about 2,5 gb available for video out of a total of 5gb for games, but the 7770 equivalent inside it can only handle textures equivalent to 1 or 1,5 gb

@Snugenz: Its hard to see some of those differences in screenshots. The PS4 version looked leaps and bounds better then the PS3 version. When Rockstar did the new video comparing PS4/PS3/PC version I said to myself, the PS4 version looks much better then that. So they simply downgraded the PS4 version to look like it did in the comparison video. My bet is enough people will raise hell about it and they will say it is was bug and then fix it. If not I simply won't update my game.

And I think the purpose is to get some of those console gamers to double or even triple dip.

@HalcyonScarlet: Not sure why it's so hard to believe. The game was released and reviewed well. What other reason did they have to do it?

@AM-Gamer: It didn't run fine on consoles though. Both versions had drops below 30fps. I have it on PS4 and driving is a nightmare. (Before the update)

I don't think alot of people will raise hell over it, it's a good increase to performance with a minor drop in quality. Best case scenario would be to add the option to choose between quality/fps. it's not like it's unheard of in console gaming these days e.g. Infamous SS and TLOU.

Then again @Wasdie could be spot on and it was just a big cock-up by R*.

It's fine for us we have plenty to occupy us in the meantime, while console owners have indie titles and nearly nothing else

@walloftruth: Most games really don't use PoM that intensively. GTA V was using it quite a bit. PoM can be very intensive depending on your GPUs. Higher end GPUs with very quick texture fill rates don't have an issue with it, but medium range and lower end GPUs can run into some serious issues with it. The PS4 and Xbox One's GPUs were more medium range when they were launched.

I'm not 100% sure these changes were intended. The performance was fine before so there is absolutely no reason to remove rendering features. This could have been a major oversight as PoM isn't something easily noticed, especially if you're not looking for it.

Doesn't make sense. Either they did it to improve frame rates or it's just a bug that appeared because they are toying with renderer to improve the game's quality/performance.

To be honest I doubt that most console gamers will even notice and that most PC gamers couldn't care less what the console version looks like

To improve performance. It was good before, but now it's performing at a more suitable rate for the hardware.

It's not like when Ubisoft gimped Watchdogs on the PC to make consoles look more powerful than they are.

Considering it runs the way they intended on the PS3/360 and it sold the most on those systems by far....yeah...it wasn't a beta test.

It was a fan video. He collected screenshots and compared them.

Yeah its such a shame that PC gamers have had to wait for that game. But at least we dont have it as bad as console gamers and have to wait for a worse version which has been/will be the case with such games as Crysis, Planetside 2, Minecraft, Half Life 2, Shadow Warrior, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Terraria, Elite Dangerous, has Arma 2 made it to 360 yet? ...so yeah, practically every single game that crosses over from PC to consoles then.

Honestly this is probably to keep an FPS above 30fps with fewer dips below such a point. If you really care about graphics that much I suggest that you invest in a gaming PC. $400 will get you something that will outperform either of the consoles. But that shouldn't matter games are great and they all look fantastic at this point. And parallax occlusion is still a very costly effect.

Crysis, Minecraft, Half Life 2, Terraria are already on console.

Planetside 2 is coming soon....someone I was playing with last night had a beta key and said he was playing.

The others....take'em or leave'em I don't care.

All in all....thats why it's good to have your console of choice and a PC.

How them downgrading the current console version is beta testing PCs which are much more powerful....is just a desperate attempt to make waiting a year and half for the game look ok.

Did someone say that this was done to sell more PC versions of the game? Well, that's the dumbest thing I've read on here today.

My point being that console gamers see the wait PC gamers have had for the definitive version of GTAV as a massive victory against the PC platform, meanwhile console gamers have in the past and are right now sitting around waiting years (six years and counting for Arma II) for dumbed down ports of year old PC games. People in glass houses and all that.

Im not really sure why the "thanks for beta testing" remark upsets you so much, console gamers getting a taste of their own medicine is what that is.
