I don't think it was stupidity, more of hope and desperation
Whether there was any hope or desperation there is a moot point. No matter how hopeful and/or desperate a person is, they have to also be very stupid to try downloading a torrent of a game that they know damn well doesn't exist yet.
Edit: And if any of them didn't actually know that the PC version doesn't exist yet, and thought that maybe it had launched already... again.. very stupid.
The title should be amended to "GTA V torrent tricks thousands of idiots."
Because it's such a mystery whether or not GTA V on PC exists as of right now.
The people who play on PC and pirate everything and never buy anything, even for 1 dollar are idiotic teenagers or kids from primary school. Only such an uneducated (in gaming sense) group of people would take such a bait.
"Thousands" of people click the stupid phising scams they get in their email as well, I don't see how this is somehow a suprise...
People who pirate games can be just as dumb as normal people, because shocker! Most of them are normal people not some sub-race of super nerds who are the only ones with enough knowhow to operate a torrent...
@Vatusus: ok so around 10 games that can be played with on old ass pcs and look at that play time
Wait, are you saying that only if you game games with benchmark graphics are you a PC gamer? Is that what you are saying? Unbelievable...
And what matters my play time? I do my main gaming on console. That doesnt deny the fact I play PC. Dont be stupid
edit: Oh, and its 25 games not 10. How low can you go to lie like that? And also I have many retail pc games and a few more on GOG. Check my backloggery

lol the desperation of pc gamers
Yes, lets ignore all the console lot that pirated GTA5 before it was even released....
The difference is pretty vast though. Console piracy is considerably harder and requires someone to actually hard-mod their machines most of the time. It's dangerous to the consumer, so while it does happen -- particularly overseas -- it's not as widespread as PC piracy which takes minimal effort.

Its not that hard. Just take your console to a shady looking guy at a market stall and he'll do it for you...
