GTA4 10/10 reviews rigged by rockstar

Its too bad that things have come to this but since things have you would think there would be some type of major pennalty because the game just didn't deserve the reviews it was getting. Your thoughts and what not about this issue are.....

The 360 version has gotten 37 100% scores.

At some point I was wondering how the hell this game got tens from so many places including GS (of all places) when the game CLEARLY isn't THAT good.

I bet you all that those $50 Million are playing a huge role with the lack of content. I odn'tthink I will be surprised to see whats in the DLC.

Its just not right though. I know its right that it enables the mags to make some good money but its kind of like the whole cheating thing with the NBA refs that went on last year. Something has to be done. Also, the mags lose credit for their reputation but who else is there to rely on for reviews anymore? Not that I always relyed on reviews anyway but its a shame that a company is able to get away with this thing and I doubt the game would of surpassed that of the halo 3 sales in the first week which was around $300 million while GTA4 is sitting at $500 million.

Oh, I never said it was right. Im one of the people who thinks that we need to do something serious in Gaming Journalism and really turn it around if we want the mainstream crowd and the general public to take video games seriously. Look at stuff like movie and book reviews, they are always very varied unless the movie is really fantastic or it's really bad. But I mean come on, when do you see a game get the same score every where? When a huge game like this comes out, yet I read the reviews and they still have complaints and they give it a perfect score. Personally I think a grading system from A-F would be better suited since no game is perfect.

No where in that article did it prove GTA did any Review Rigging... It said Rockstar did not give people that gave them bad reviews in the past the game before it was released... Who cares... In no way will that DIRECTly impact ANY of the reviews on GTA4... THREAD/

Hmmmm, you can never be too sure these days with review sources in the mad money driven world we live in. We all know that this would not be the first time, and this game was a pretty big deal for everyone involved. Hard to say without any evidence, and I am not about to say it is the truth. But, let's just say that it would not suprise me if this was at least in part true.

GTAIV is indeed a great game, but it is not the greatest game ever made by a stretch in my opinion. But, I can take that opinion of mine and 0.75 cents and go buy a cup of coffee with it. But, I stand by it all the same.

but here is the thing GTA IV is out and its one of the best GTA IV in my opinion and in the opinion of the 37 reviewers gave it a 10/10.

It is kinda of sad people who keep saying gta 4 doesn't deserve a 10/10 are now giving this game bad rep to a such a]awesome game.

I thought it was common knowledge that exclusive early reviews tend to get pretty heavily influenced by what the publisher wants the game to score.

But that doesn't prove that every 10 the game was given came as a result of Rockstar bribing game journalists. Besides, if those high scores came because Rockstar threatened to withhold advance copies of the game, don't you think we'd be seeing a few lower scores now that the game is out?

you speak as if all 37 10's were from the same company. Like they went around in one room and announced their 10's. all were independent reviews by independent people and companies.

They all simply came to the same conclusion.

Take your tinfoil hats off, people. The 360 version alone got 37 10/10 scores. That's an enormous number of reviews, only a couple of which were "exclusive", which is what the podcast guy is crying about.

This idea that these video game writers are recipients of R* moneybags, rather than recipients of an excellent game, fails every logic and common sense test out there.

I think people are overreacting and Joystick is acting butthurt. Whining because R* didn't show them the same respect that they give IGN, TXB, GameSpot and others. So now the tears flow and they try to go Jose Canseco on the industry. Lack of integrity from Joystick if anyone.

If it's the best GTA game ever made and all the other GTA games are high-AAA games, it should be NO suprise that GTA4 hits the 10 slot.

One rather curious thing does come to mind. Any of you guys remember when we were sitting around waiting for the review to pop up and at first there was a 9.5, which was taken down after a short period? Then later that night around launch time, we get the 10. GS of course later responded by saying "it was just a glitch."

Not saying this means anything, I just think that it is a bit strange on the surface. Especially in light of this accusation.

Please... I wander with all the people on this site alone saying how "great" the game is are we even playing the same game. Seriously don't you guys remember what happened when Gamespot rated Ratchet and Clank lower then any other site? The forums went crazy especially with how many people claiming they wouldn't post here anymore with the "low" score Gamespot gave it. Good luck listing 10 credible review sites off the top of your head, oh wait you can't so don't even bother looking them up. I can only think of about 5, and pretty much the smaller sites just go with the flow because they don't want to get negative publicity because they didn't agree with the consensus.

I can think of several other games that are much better than GTA4 and they don't have half as many tens maybe not even a third as many 10's as the. RE4, MGS3, FFVII, FFVIII, FFT, COD4, Gran Turismo 3, Devil May Cry, and I'm sure there are other games as well.odin2019

again its your opnion and reviews are based on opinions of people, there will be many out there that would say gta iv is a better game than all those you mentioned.

How about we just get rid of numbers and letter scores all together, so you guys will stop crying about how the game got a 10, and how you think that it isn't 10 material.
