GTAIV PS3 VS XBOX360 April Sales - Explain this please???

1) Grand Theft Auto IV (Xbox 360) / Take-Two / April 2008 / 1.85M

3) Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3) / Take-Two / April 2008 / 1M

I always see alot of 360 owners go on and on about how PS3 owners don't buy games and what not. Granted its fanboy dribble but shouldn't a 5 million userbase lead produce more than a mere 850,000 difference in units sold :|. So who isn't buying games?

While I'm at it, whats up with 360 only having a 1,000 unit lead over PS3 in NPD. I thought the "shortages" ended :|

lol 360 still outsol ps3:) and last i checked microsoft said they expected shortages to end may, and sorry but 360 still outsold gta4 over ps3 version...thats april 2008...thats one days sales, one days sales and 360 gta had 850k more sales.

wasn't GTA4 only out for 2 days in april? 850k in two days is huge. Also, there is a limit to how much a game can sell. Just because you double, triple the user base doesn't mean every release will see double and triple the sells.

Either way, the game industry is doing pretty good with their big releases. Wii fit should be another big one.

I believe feb or march was the last month of the shortages. Basically when the 360 started outselling the ps3 by the smallest of margins, there was plenty of stock and still is.(I know how that sounds, but it just happens to be that way).

The 360 isn't selling that well because it had one $50 price drop in 2.5 years and still costs more than any console started last gen. That and it's reliability.

1. 360 beat PS3 in hardware. Winning by a inch is still winning.

2. 360 sold 850 000 more copies of a game ****that is known to be associated with the SONY brand****

360 > PS3 in hardware and software. Sony sunk since PS2 days, they sunk HARD.

I work in retail, it's all a sale. Doesn't hurt anyone...too much. Infact, if anything the Wii is actually hurting the electronics industry. So many people out there holding onto their cash waiting for something to spend it on.

MS basically grabbed a hallmark Playstation title by the throat and outsold Playstation with it. This is like someone coming into your house, picking up your 9 iron and beating you about the head and shoulders with it. Where is the moral victory in this for Sony? "Well they've outsold us in units so we were supposed to have our a**es handed to us even though GTA has Playstation roots." Yay

Im not going to use this as an excuse, but i've read on other boards that M$ has just started rolling out new motherboards & Lite-On drives in their X360's this month. So they may have cut shipments to ramp up shipments of these the past couple of months. Just my 2 pennies.....E M I N 3 M

The bottomline is that the 360 is still the leader in overall hardware sales and they're the king of software sales, and the Wii is the king of hardware sales from a month to month basis, while the PS3 struggling way behind. The playstation era is over, it's not the same, people need to realize this. But there will be one or two great games for the PS3 that people will enjoy, plus blu ray dvds are awesome.

360 is not the overall hardware sales leader, that belongs to the Wii. Ps3 has been outselling 360 world wide every single month for a long time now, it's only a matter of time bud.

And no one is expecting Ps3 to pass Wii up. Like I said before, stop acting like you have a Ps3 and actually buy one to try it out.

It's so funny how you push a few buttons around here & the true side of people come out. HA! Some of you in this thread/forum, claim to like all consoles but as soon as someone ruffles your feathers, your true fanboy comes out. Personally, im admittingly a "lemming" above all else. You know why? Because im not a fool & don't jump on hype trains. X360 grabbed a huge market share this time around because of software....They have the games this gen. PERIOD

I bought a PS3 for Blu-Ray and for the few exclusives the system will get down the road. Other than that, my system will lay there til it's worth playing. Better online infrostructure, achievements, 99.9% of the time better multiplats, more people i know play online with XBL and so on & so on. Besides hardware problems, there is nothing bad that you could say about what M$ has done this gen thus far. The only negativity you have is your inner-fanboy.

As far as these numbers go....I've said this countless times. PS3 will not overtake X360 in NA this year or maybe even next year. X360 also fairs better in the UK than PS3 for what it matters. In NA, the sales of the X360 would literally have to come to a standstill for PS3 to surpass it. So selling a few thousand 1 month here & 1 month there just isn't going to cut it. Sales aren't @ a standstill in Europe either. M$ is not claiming victory over anyone....They clearly said from the beginning, their plan was to take more of the marketshare than they did with Xbox and IMO, they're achieving their goal.
