ive had GTA4 since realse and guess what? i have finished 3% but why? cause it was soooo boring! what did they do wrong? i dont know....they should have made it like san andreas who agrees?PSfanboy101
bye bye GTA hello socom!....next month....cause of stupid aussie realse date!
oh well...LBP can help me wait!
They took out the over-the-top slapstick humorand zaniness in an attempt to be gritty. I, for one, regret that that decision was amde.Verge_6

who in there right mind doesn't want GTA to be realisitc? it was ALWAYS heading in that direction. lol
GTA4 is the best in the series and i've finished it and still love it. IMO.
as for the TC, why did you buy the game? you obviously don't like it. and BLOG it next time.
Too much stuff was taken out. Parachutes, Tanks, Crazy missions, Crazy weapons, Customization, Buying property etc. It was a fun game, just not as much fun as San Andreas and Vice city.
The ending sucked also.

Realism =/= fun.

The person you quoted never said gta4 was more fun because of its realism.
[QUOTE="Couth_"]I wouldn't call it boring, it was a bit repetative though. I did get to like 65-70% though, and there was absolutely nothing worthwhile left to do, I wonder what the other 30 was...Giancar

That must be it...I think I killed like two :?GTAIV was a big letdown to me. I finished the story and never felt compelled to play the game again.
Vice City is still the best in the series, IMO.
What does this have to do with System Wars? seriously..SolidGame_basic
Saints Row 2 was more san andreas like, and therefore better than Gta4.
There you go, petty debate am go. :)

yup, that sucked, and I only found 3 of those flying rats!

Do we need a GTA IV should be San Andreas thread every day?
We get it. Some of you don't like the realism. Some of us liked it. Not every game is going to appeal to everyone. You want goofy sanbox fun, get Saints Row or Crackdown.

I was focusing on current gen games, but sure, San Andreas is coming to Xbox Originals, and PS2/Xbox copies are still really easy to find should someone want to go that route.

I guess many people were disappointed with GTAIV.
The problem I had with it was the missions were too go kill this guy and go kill that guy. Every mission was based upon that premise, and therefore became repetitive and boring. The other missions throughout GTA series had you doing multiple different things which kept the exictement factor but GTA 4 was just dull. Other problem I had was there nothing to spend my money on, I mean absoultuely nothing! ok except for guns but C'mon whats the points of having 5 million to spend just on weapons. If I go any further with my argument it would just turn into a rambling, I enjoyed the realistic, gritty feel of GTA4 but it was just done wrong.
Thanks god for the Saints row series.

Less than one would think. We gamers have just become so hard to please that its more common now for the masses to hate a great game than to like it. Seriously. Look at thread after thread calling games like BioShock, Half-life 2, GTA IV, MGS4, Halo 3, Gear of War, Mario Galaxy, etc, etc things like overrated, mediocre, average...
If any of those games are average, I would hate to see the persons standards.
Games like TimeShift, Stuntman, The Darkness, etc are average. Fun, but average.
But gamers are spoiled now, and they feel entitled to getting what they want, and when a game is not exactly what they want, they complain.
I enjoyed it especially when trying to get all of the Achievements. Lemme guess you got the PS3 version right, the one with no Trophies.
I'm treated like a heretic for thinking this, but i genuinely find Saints Row 2 better than GTAIV. It's just much more fun and enjoyable to play, and leaves you smiling rather than impressed at the pretty graphics or gritty realism. Breaking your buddy out of jail, while he's on trial, right there in the court room? Madness like that is exactly what GTA got rid of, and it's a shame. I thought it was hilarious when you're trying to break out of the court and the judge herself confronts you with a shotgun, or the cut scene where the gun goes off in the courtroom and a guy hiding behind a chair says "anyone hit and need a lawyer?"

It was always heading that way? Lol, wut?
The reason why most people are complaining that GTA 4 is boring is because they felt that Rockstar sold them out. They threw everything that made Vice City and San Andreas so enjoyable out the window and decided to make it more realistic. They sacrificed fun in order to create a living, breathing world. Saints Row 2 decided to pick up the debris and make it even more over the top, creating a brand of their own that stands out from other GTA clones.
Face it guys, there's now two sub-genres within the Sandbox genre, the realistic side and the over the top, Tom and Jerry style side.
I understand what you mean, but I can't say I agree. You can say you feel Saints Row 2 is more fun than GTA IV, but it is in no way a better game.I'm treated like a heretic for thinking this, but i genuinely find Saints Row 2 better than GTAIV. its not just that..its just the premise they built that whole genre on.sure,if they fixed up the story, enahnced the features and graphics from san andreas and the game wouldve been fine, but no...they downright changed the formula for the worst...and then you will get these different kinds of fans
-Ones that will look the other way and say that way is right cos the name is GTA
-Ones that will compare the graphics and story to all the other Free roams despite the features being minor(and a story i think was horribly constructed)
-Ones that will eat out rockstar for build up GTA instead of building from.
and i can tell you im not looking the other way, because as a GAMER(not a hardcore),i expected alot more from GTAIV and got alot less.
I liked the story.X360PS3AMD05Yes. My second favorite part of the game. First being the presentation. Maybe they should of made this under a different name without GTA in it.
