[QUOTE="X360PS3AMD05"]I can't wait for part 5, i want to see how much better PS3 graphics can get :D Now people will start to guess where it will take place. Eyezonmii
Is 5 exclusive or something?
Ehhh i don't think so, just want to see how much better the graphics are.GTA IV bashing has become so cliche on the System Wars forum. So hard to please that crowd, I guess. Saints Row 2 is fun, sooo much fun, but it's not a better game in story or on a technical level. BioShockOwnz
the story is bad, man..the only reason its credited is because of the "oh who are you going to kill?this guy,or this guy?"technique, which was used pretty well...thats it...theres nothing "Cool" about the story what so ever...just a bunch of senseless killings and drug dealings "for roman" or "to find Dark" excuses.Saints Row devs already knew their story wasnt serious,so instead they made it comical this time around instead of just throwing down the F word and having concepts like the first one and GTAIV did.
i think the next gta should jump straight into the action and skip the first 10% of the game/tutorial nonsense...
make the first mission where you rob a bank, take off in a tank, get in a chopper, jump out parachute land on a skyscraper, run down some stairs shooting at the cops, eat a cheeseburger, hop on a motorcycle fleeing from the cops while doing backflips off ramps, ramp off a draw-bridge that is open and dive off in mid-air landing on a barge, locate the jetpack start flying around while shooting down pedestrians and cops with an uzi in each hand...
then third person perspective crosshairs line up on you and you get shot in the head wake up from the dream...tutorial over...now let the fun begin
I was done after I finished the first island and did the first 10 missions or whatever on the second one and realised i've been doing the same 4 things during the whole game and there wasn't much to do besides the missions except go on rampages but they were more boring than they were fun so I tried driving around but that got boring fast because I could hardly control the car and the whole game was grayed out so there wasn't much to look at. So I said screw this I am done and I haven't played it since.
just a little rant :D.
Stop playing GTAIV like its saints row. Unlike saints row, theres actually a great story, twists, and interesting characters.
The story could of been done much better, but it ended up being total crap, your basically just after a guy and when you finally find him 75% through the game, he's just some gay person, then what happens? Nothing. So the revenge plotline goes down the toilet and your left with Nico wanting to save up money because he can.. :| Then something finally happens right at the end of the game and your given 2 options both leading to equally bad endings...
Thats basically the storyline summed up. Most of it is Nico wanting to get rich.
Your right TC this game is boring and it's not at all to do with being too hard to please. Most gamers these day are in fact too easy to please. Thats why they so easily except an average game such as GTA4 to be worthy of a 10. That score is laughable at best.

WTF are you on about? the story was great, nothing to do with THAT technique, it was just well done and well put together, expeically the bank part, reminded me of the movie HEAT with pachino. Saint row look like your tpyical stereotype nonsense with gangs...how fun:roll:
if anythings mindless its that game.
GTA4 was like a movie, the side mission and overall fun factor was top stuff, can't count the many times i got side tracked, just to kill someone or do a killer stunt.
but hey, thats your opinion.
story sucked dude.Nikos motives for coming here are all over the place;one minute its helping roman, then the next all the sudden his story is that he wants to kill darko?garbage.everything after bohan besides the mcrearies stuff are all a bunch of nonsense that was just put in there for rockstar to make an excuse to recycle the same crap theyve been doing for years.
and thanks for proving my point that the story and its missions were lackluster:you played the game to the point where missions were all but do-able.killing pidgeons, doing jumps, going over/under bridges?thats fun to you?hey, whatever floats your boat man,id rather actually be having gameplay over parts in an interactive movie ala GTA IV.
w/e..your call man.

Exactly. Flying under bridges, doing jumps, and killing pigeons DOES NOT compare at all to the awesome that is the Insurance Fraud mini game.
[QUOTE="SpinoRaptor"][QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"]Do we need a GTA IV should be San Andreas thread every day?
We get it. Some of you don't like the realism. Some of us liked it. Not every game is going to appeal to everyone. You want goofy sanbox fun, get Saints Row or Crackdown.

I guess many people were disappointed with GTAIV.
But gamers are spoiled now, and they feel entitled to getting what they want, and when a game is not exactly what they want, they complain.
Blame developers, not gamers. That is expected when games like GTA4 are hyped to hell and fail to deliver.[QUOTE="Eyezonmii"][QUOTE="LinKuei_warrior"][QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]GTA IV bashing has become so cliche on the System Wars forum. i don't care, i don't do those small stuff, i just play for the story, stunts and overall joy of killing people and watching niko dive out of a car in mid air...lol, love the physics and animations, never gets old.
and lets not forget the multiplayer.
lol, you try so hard to pick at GTA4 and bring it down, the simple fact is it was a great game from a techical and graphical point of view, the story is matter of taste and i liked it...you can't honestly say the gameplay was crap, comapred to the others..the rest is your opinion.

who in there right mind doesn't want GTA to be realisitc? it was ALWAYS heading in that direction. lol
GTA4 is the best in the series and i've finished it and still love it. IMO.
as for the TC, why did you buy the game? you obviously don't like it. and BLOG it next time.
Realism =/= fun.
The person you quoted never said gta4 was more fun because of its realism.
well games are supposed to be fun right? and he said that who doesn't want GTA to be realistic? so he pretty much said that realism is fun and to the OG poster...i HATED the fact the GTAIV was realistic...it was horrible and quite boring...the only good thing about the game was the city...that's it the story was cliche....revenge...(spoilers i guess) OMG my lady just got shot....more revenge the gameplay was pretty good, gun fights were cool at times drivng, sry i just love turning at high speeds and pulling off awesome powerslides....the motorcycle went from my most driven to my least driven because the turning sucked seriously...i wanted realistic driving i'd go drive my own car OR playing a driving game that is supposed to be the realistic one these games are supposed to be funny, over the top, and just something to escape the reality of the world...not go from one real world to the next oh...and this game was seriously not funny at all....i remember GTA VC and SA cracked me the hell up...this was just way too serious and just not funny niko i do admit was a cool character but the 360 does have exclusive episodes...so maybe we will get some worth while missions that will make me pick the game back up again so until then...i'm enjoying the sand box game of my dreams...SR2, had everything SA had and tons more[QUOTE="samusarmada"][QUOTE="SpinoRaptor"][QUOTE="Eyezonmii"][QUOTE="Verge_6"]They took out the over-the-top slapstick humorand zaniness in an attempt to be gritty. How did GTAIV move away from realism, considering what the previous did? it just kept up with techonology, added better animations, pyshics..etc. you make it sound like Vice city was a circus with flying elephants and cars that could talk....gsus!

idk...the story of GTAIV was just too cliche...too down to earth...too mellow...too hollywood ya know not crazy drug dealin, ho pimpin, cops beatin u down type of attitude and like i said...i don't want this type of game to feel too real, some realism is these type of games are ok, but they pushed the realism just way to farthe main story was great but what has given me most enjoyment from gta games in the past is the ability to wander off and have fun with all the side missions, races, causing general mayhem etc. and all these points were completely missing from gta iv.
even going on killing sprees became nigh on impossible after a while because there was nothing to earn major money from to buy guns & ammo after you finished the main game.
there were only about 9 different race routes if i remember rightly which simply isn't enough for a game of it's size.
although the main story was great everything afterwards and separate from the story was severly lacking in ingenuity, variety and entertainment.
saints row 2 has a plethora of extra stuff to do if you get bored of the main game but it also has a pretty dull main game.
what would suit me down to the ground is a gta game with the variety of content that saints row features anf the closest that has come to is san andreas.

Look at TC. 3% in. Seriously? And When did Rockstar or any review anywhere say that this game was like San Andreas? Rockstar made no secrt it was going realistic, and all the reviews praise the realism.
I stand by my statement, and yes, sometimes I am part of the problem too.
The SP was great, but there's nothing worth doing afterwards. The online is decent but too laggy and pigeon hunting is just lame.
It goes like this:
Vice City > San Andreas >>>>>> GTA IV > GTA III
GTA III was revolutionary for it's time, but it's hard to get through these days.
[QUOTE="Ninja-Hippo"]I understand what you mean, but I can't say I agree. You can say you feel Saints Row 2 is more fun than GTA IV, but it is in no way a better game.more fun=betterI'm treated like a heretic for thinking this, but i genuinely find Saints Row 2 better than GTAIV. It's just much more fun and enjoyable to play, and leaves you smiling rather than impressed at the pretty graphics or gritty realism. Breaking your buddy out of jail, while he's on trial, right there in the court room? Madness like that is exactly what GTA got rid of, and it's a shame. I thought it was hilarious when you're trying to break out of the court and the judge herself confronts you with a shotgun, or the cut scene where the gun goes off in the courtroom and a guy hiding behind a chair says "anyone hit and need a lawyer?"

what else are games for?
Too much stuff was taken out. Parachutes, Tanks, Crazy missions, Crazy weapons, Customization, Buying property etc. It was a fun game, just not as much fun as San Andreas and Vice city.
The ending sucked also.
SpinoRaptor
I agree. They focused to much on the story and made it too realistic.
Its not so boring, I find it relaxing :P I don't do much in it, I just act like a normal person in GTA :P (As in not killing people)

I prefer
San Andreas (XBOX) > GTA Vice City Stories (PSP) > GTA Liberty City Stories (PSP) > GTA IV (X360) > GTA III (PC)
I never played Vice City. But man, San Andreas and the 2 PSP versions were AMAZING!
The fact that there were no check points during the missions really made this game a chore to play at times. It also had a few other bad design issues which coupled with the absence of checkpoints made it even more frustrating to play. Also I think certain aspects of the game I feel other games do far better.
IMO it was pretty good but very overated
Its a decent game with a helluva alot of polish and things in it they didn't neccesarly need to add but they did.. Its not much of a sand box games.. Missions are linear, the actual sandbox mode you can not do much in it.. The presentation is top notch, action and controls are well done, interesting characters and stories..
But as a sand box experience I would much prefer a game like X3 Terran Conflict which is much more indepth with really what you can do.. I give ita solid 9.0.

let me join you in your group of heretics.
Well, were you the type of guy that unlocked every single weapon and got the helicopter in the begining of the game?
GTA4, unlike the other GTA's basically forces you to do the missions to have fun. If you had played normally, not used any cheats, it's actually a lot more fun. At least imo
