Apparently cancellations are the norm nowadays. Not what I wanted to hear waking up. Hope everyone lands on their feet.

Cancerous something, something, something. lol :P
I swear if Sony closes Media Molecule, I would literally lose 50% of interest in their titles. Apart from ND and Japan Studios, Media Molecule games are the only First Party titles I actually like from them(insomniac is third party). Give Nintendo so much shit, but you can't deny that their First Party Studios are save from getting shut down. They closed so many first party studios last gen, which is ridiculous
And nothing of value was lost. Only feeling sad for the guys who'll lose theyir jobs.
Where possible, Sony said it will attempt to move affected developers to other internal projects. If that is not possible, Sony said it will connect with local studios to discuss job opportunities.
It looks like they're being taken care of. Seems like the studio wasn't putting out much.
Pretty sure they were the studio who made the Medievil games before being merged into GG
You are correct

apparently they made the 24 game too which i really enjoyed :-(
Oh yeah, that was a pretty cool game.
I don't know their work outside of Killzone Mercenary but I thought that was a good game. Hopefully they find jobs.

Of course they say that. Its just like the time sony offered to take on lionhead employees, but I dont think they did in the end..
Well that would have been more difficult, since they weren't coming from a studio they didn't own. And that was in the form of a tweet, not an official statement.
Suck for people losing their jobs. I hope they can find something fast. Never cool.to see.people get lay off.

But then i would ask if they are prepared to do the bold, how come they haven't done this already before announcing the closure?
Its typical PR bullshit instead of just saying they no longer have a job.
That could be the case as well. I'm not saying it can't be. I just think it's easier for them to move around what were essentially their employees than bring on people from external studios. They could very well just be handing out recommendations and that's all.
Wait, was this company making a game that was spot lighted as a main lineup contender at all of Sony's E3 presentations? Was it also the ONLY Western title in their PS4 line up of upcoming games? No, huh? hmm... yeah this is exactly the same then

Lems trying to grasp at straws to justify MS being crap and failing as usual.
The Vita was such a complete failure, Wow!!!! Its staggering :/
I've noticed that all the closed studios have once developed PSvita games. Those devs where doomed from the start, as sad as it is

Exactly. If it was really serious stuff the announcement would read better with "thankfully Sony was able to repurpose some of the effected to other projects and other local studios." But we already know one person who will believe this as gospel.
I hope those effected land on their feet.

They better let them work on what they want.
That honestly sucks big time. WTF Sony? I liked Killzone Mercenary (seriously, one of the best games on the vita) and Primal was my first PS2 game so needless to say it has some nostalgic value to me...
How does anyone not get a little depressed when this happens? Are the console manufacturers destined to eventually become hardware produces with just one first party studio that releases one game every 3 years?
Fucking atrocious.
ANDyet again, my personal tastes in gaming leads to yet another game that won't ever come out #addingtothatlist FFS. They were rumoured to be handling the Killzone IP since Mercenaries Vita was actually up there with the bigger budget releases so was hoping for great things there.
Killzone IP(not made by Guerrilla main)
New Burnout game(in any respect, EA or EA vets')
New Dead Space game
New Silent Hill game #fuckkonami
New Traditional Resident Evil game
New Zone of the Enders game #fuckkonami
MS cancels a game Sony closes a studio. I look forward to unbiased reaction to this news. Spin doctors are gearing up.
Lol, yeah... it's only bad if MS does it apparently.
It's a shame as Guerrilla Cambridge was actually a decent studio. Unfortunately, they were most recently assigned games like KillZone Vita and RIGS on PSVR. 2 games that were both decent, but had little chance of selling big numbers. So, they are now getting fucked because Sony didn't give them something good to work on that would have been commercially successful. Pretty much how Microsoft fucked Lionhead Studios by forcing them to work with Kinect (Fable The Journey) and make the crappy Fable Legends.

The first spin doctor makes an appearance...
You're telling me this wouldn't have been worse if they had been showing off a game for a good while that was well into development to ultimately out the blue be completely shut down?
Well, to be fair, you are a lem, and lems don't give a shit about their own games so.. lol figures. Should I just pretend I was never interested in Cambridge's output, lem style? :P

Yeah because cancelling a game is definitely a lot worse than shutting down an entire studio...
Anyway, hopefully the people affected find new jobs elsewhere.

They released 5club. They got their game out.
Full disclosure though, this is the only positive out of this shitty situation, that they didn't show what they were working on next.
Never ending tough times for Sony. I just hope they have at least one more building to sell to get through these dark dayzzz. :P

lol Drive club got released. Of course you'd be done with this. You probably realized how silly that sounded.
I don't get it sometimes, I mean I didn't have a Vita but from the sounds of it the Killzone game they did there was actually good, just the system was poor performing commercially so of course the game would also sell poorly, but Sony should have realized the studio as an asset had great potential, they just need to make the games for a better performing system with a larger userbase.
Same thing I think killed Evolution in many ways. Going back to the PS3 era, I loved the first two Motorstorm games, but they then decided to make a PSP/PS2 Motorstorm game (why?!), and I think the commercial performance really affected their leverage on getting funding for their next Motorstorm game, which probably meant Apocalypse was developed under budget which probably explains a lot of poor design choices and lack of polish all around. That too probably effected their leverage to the point Sony wouldn't fund anohter, which is probably where they changed direction to try to make something of Drive Club, they're last shot, when that blew up in their face that was it, studio closed. I really wish they didn't go this direction. Maybe start the new gen off light, maybe do a Motorstorm 1 & 2 remaster collection with enhanced graphical performance; that would have really wet my appetite for a new Motorstorm game.
In many ways it saddens me that Guerrilla is doing Horizon Zero Dawn because I'd much rather they stick to doing Killzone games. My disappointment with the last game they made had less to do with their abilities and more to do with their design direction. Mainly they gutted the series established dieselpunk aesthetic approach, also gutted the idea of large scale shock and awe retro-futuristic warfare for a more covert special ops approach, less of a grunts in large scale warfare and more of overpowering players with special abilities. All they had to do IMO was step back these big changes, and keep going the direction they were going before. If Horizon Zero Dawn fails to establish itself big commercially, my worry is that's it for them. On the other hand, if it's a success, why would Sony stray from that? They'd probably just make another, and we'd probably never see another Killzone game for quite a while, not until that IP loses steam after its whatever'ith iteration. Not that I ever thought, but now hearing this news I can't help but feel it's a wasted opportunity that they didn't have the two studios juggling different IPs, let the main Guerrilla studio work on Horizon Zero Dawn, let the other studio take it's time on a new Killzone game reboot; that way, at the least, they could have hedged their bets.
I wish publishers would sometimes realize with studios maybe the fault isn't in the studios or abilities, but the fact they have to grovel for an idea until the publisher says they'll okay that one, they do it, and the publisher isn't impressed with the commercial performance. They should be able to step back regardless and go "geez, you guys made a quality product there, but maybe the problem was we kind of set you up for failure on our end, we'll try utilizing your talents better next time". Yeah, but nope, never seems to happen. Such a shame.
