Wow, no price drop on the PS3 and the XBox is aggressively going after the casual or "family" crowd.
I guess people can really use those few extra hundred dollars; unless there are some real wealthy parents out there.

Wow, why would you attack me? Pleas stay on topic.
So, the recession isn't helping any and well... even with busines after business going out of business... I think parents have to spend their money in the most responsible way this year.
If its choosing between a Xbox 360 bundled with 2 kid friendly games or a PS3 bundled with... well nothing and costing at least $100 more... I think the choice is obvious!
parents will buy the wii or last gen systems you funny boyRigga911
Actually, by the sales of the systems... you are right, the Wii has been selling like hot cakes.
But... if it came down to a system for both a kid and the parent the XBox 360 is the obvious choice.
People should just buy the same stuff they would've bought with last years economy.Can-o-MarkYeah, if only they had last years money... It's funny how Sony's head Playstation chief (Who eventually stepped down...hmmm) said that the PS3 wasn't for everybody and that people would have to save to buy one... he was right. Sony wanted to make something that only wealthy families could buy and now it's destroying their business. Just recently they fired several thousand employees. I guess the pitiful sales for the PS3 in November is a real reality check in the "value" of the PS3 Vs. the XBox 360. I think the 360 sold 3 times as many systems, right?
I tink they will either buy wii or ps2.
WII, well its basically made for kids and the parents themself might have sum fun with it aswell
PS2, its cheapest system of all, has a huge amount of games wich includes kid games, and parents are mostly not much intrested in games but if they are they might have some fun with it aswel because i dont think most care about next gen graphics
but if the kid is older and doesn't like the WII or doesn't want last gen then yh xbox is mostlikely the console they'll buy
but then again don't forget there still are handheld in the market wich are also not so expensive and have cheap games so they might get that instead
My point is that if you're going to buy one machine for the family... say dad wants to play some Adult games... or rent movies from Netflix for the house... The 360 seems like the family console. If you want to get the kids something for their room a Wii or PS2 would be fine.I tink they will either buy wii or ps2.

The obvious choice isn't always the correct one.[QUOTE="Can-o-Mark"]People should just buy the same stuff they would've bought with last years economy.elpoepYeah, if only they had last years money... A lot of people arent doing that bad actually. Most people are just spending less money because of the economic crisis. But, there's not really a crisis going on anymore. Apart from the fact that people arent consuming enough. If we all drop back in our previous consuming behavior, the economy will flourish once again.

Since the PS3 is full of so much "value" then why don't people buy it?

The Xbox 360 has plenty of games for the whole family, Netflix and Wii like avatars. The games cost less and score better graphically...
If i was a dad gamer, I'd get the 360 for me and my kid

I agree that the 360 will probably stay ahead of the PS3 this gen, but the PS3 has much better multimedia value than the 360. It comes with built-in wi-fi, which costs an extra $100 on the 360. It also has a great number of exclusives in 2009, which the 360 does not have.
It's still your call, though.

no, parents will go for wii. Microsoft don't really have that many family games, in the uk the only family advertisements are lips and in the movies.Mckenna1845There are many family advertisements in the USA for 360. One shows a Family of Mom, Dad and child playing GH:WT. One also boasts about 360's 200 "Family friendly" games. Face it, they are trying to appeal to casuals like Nintendo.

I totally agree... and the lower price helps, A LOT! I can't beleive its lower than the price of the Wii now!

The obvious choice isn't always the correct one. Yeah, but there is no smoke and mirrors here, the 360 has the best selection of games at a comparable price to the Wii and with comparable graphics to the PS3. And the PS3 is just too expensive to have mass appeal still.[QUOTE="0rin"][QUOTE="elpoep"]The obvious choice isn't always the correct one.Actually, by the sales of the systems... you are right, the Wii has been selling like hot cakes.

I regularly ask for a bag of socks for Christmas because:
a) I'm too lazy to buy them myself
b) I know my mom won't screw it up
c) It's something to open. Other than socks, and other things I might ask for out of being too lazy to get myself, I just ask for money.
I'm 19, by the way.

Well, at least you won't have to rape your parents wallet by asking for a XBox 360 (Vs. a PS3) -- plus, you could all share it... with all the NetFlix Movies you can down load. I've seen some bundles with a free trial offer.
I'll try to make a super-mario level if i get LBP[QUOTE="Squall18"]360 is a steal for that bundled price. The ps3 is worth the money, but you will stop plaing it in moderation as the online gameplay is bland. People need to start making more creative LBP levels : (Jekken6
Too bad this thread isn't talking about how bad Little Big Planet did... or the similarities of Blu-Ray to Beta max in terms of sales... Or the horrible sales of the PS3 during November-- though, we could say that...
The 360 being that much more of value to consumers and families outsold the PS3 3 to 1 in November and the consumer has spoken. I think December sales will even be more revealing.
The only thing I dont like about 360's is that they're cheaply made and break down so easily with all those stupid RROD's. Because Micrososft rushed the console to make sher they got a head start before PS3 came out. Both PS3 and Wii are much more durable.tundraknight8
DO THIS:
Go to your Craigslist city and search for a PS3 with a broken blue-ray drive! You'll find a few. I don't think that's covered by the warranty-- some PS3s don't get repaired because they are too dusty. Do a search for PS3 dusty and warranty.
The 360: a 3 year warranty!--if it dies... you're still backed up for 3 years--that's value. Plus, there are new chipsets and heat sinks so that the 360 doesn't die
The Wii: a 1 yr. warranty!
The PS3: 1 yr. warranty!

Thats because you got completely owned in your claims. You said that Banjo was gonna score higher than LBP:lol:.Besides, its really convinient how you decide to show up when the sales aren't so great for the PS3. Any other time, and you really don't care. You just like to keep kicking the fanboys while they are down.
I see both of them as a good value, however I feel that families will reach for the Wii before they reach for the 360. The 360 may be cheaper, but that isn't always great, it seems to have a generic feel to it. Its like picking between Cheese its and generic cheese crackers. Sure, the generic crackers might be cheaper, but they probably don't have as much taste as cheese its do. :)
However, that logic might not apply. I used food because I'm hungry.
