Yeah I'm a little worried about the cIasses feeling a little the same when you can all handle yourself. You know, if you don't really have a special role in fights, then you're all kinda doing the same thing.
Then again, some cIasses are probably better at running away, or at taking/reverting damage, or at setting things up for other cIasses, or setting traps, or pulling enemies, or holding aggro in emergency. And IF you get skills to pick from to take with you on quests, you can still specialise yourself for certain enemies and play a special role that way.

Does someone know how skills work in GW2? Like, I know the left side of the bar is weapon skills and the right side is cIass skills. But do you still get many skills of which you can pick a couple to use in the fights ahead like in GW 1? Do you have to go back to a town to change them?

[QUOTE="SaltyMeatballs"]I'll wait for Cynical Brit's breakdown, but it's looking good. I read this wasn't subscription based, you just pay for the game and that's it??Heil68
I hope so, I don't play subscription based games.

yep though they will have a practical micro-store. stuff like character slots and skill packs for pvp ONLY use n stuff

Holy crap, look at this:http://www.guildwars2guru.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1128627&postcount=346

"Let me explain what an overflow server is and what it does. It is a technology we also use as our version of a queuing system. When a map or a world you want to log into is at capacity limit, the game will ask you if you want to play on an overflow server - so you can actually play while you are in a queue. Once space opens on your world, the game will ask you if you want to join your friends on your world. And you keep all the progress you made while you were playing on the overflow server."

Keep in mind this game has no subscription fee...

the cIasses are very different. just because they all can cover the same "basic roles" doesn't mean they can do that the same way. there's a PvP video of a guy playing a mesmer, at one point a thief fights him and, well, it's just amazing. here.. those two are my favorite cIasses so far because they rely on cunning and mind games more than on raw strength.

as for skills, you can unlock a bunch of them through skill points you get by doing tasks, and you can edit them whenever you feel like (at least i saw a dev do it in the middle of an explorable area). i think mmorpg.com covered that in one of the previews. it's the first thing they cover on page 2.

so you unlock cIass/race skills with skill points, and you unlock weapon skills a la final fantasy tactics, by using the weapons more and more.

I feel bad for BioWare for wasting so much money on TOR when Guild Wars 2 is nearing release. Actually, I don't.

TOR is still a lackluster WoW clone with worse end-game. Of course, you can't expect innovation from BioWare these days...
