http://kotaku.com/gaming/pity/wiis-online-guitar-hero-looking-decidedly-shaky-295419.php

Wasn't too long ago we were told that the Wii's Guitar Hero would feature online. Both online play and downloadable content. In fact, it was April.

Now, in August, things aren't looking so set in stone. RedOctane's Bryan Lam has told BBPS that, uh, maybe they needed to see how much of a dog's breakfast the Wii's online setup was before making promises:

...we're working closely with Nintendo for an online solution, though at the moment we're unable to confirm the status of the online multi-player.

Following up with Lam, BBPS reports that this also applies to downloadable content. Shame. That doesn't sound promising at all, and would leave the Wii version looking more than a little gimped .

Of course. I never played it. I'm not much of a fan of DDR games. Was it enjoyable? Knowing some rhythm games, any bit of lag would completely ruin the experience.

I think they are trying to work out exaclty which modes can work online. I read somewhere a while back that they were having issues with being able to do 2vs2 with people playing on different consoles.

I've never had any lag on it. It was qwuite fun if you are into it. I'm not anymore though so I have no idea how the 360 version is online.

The Nintendo Wii version of the game will support the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, and though both Vicarious Visions and Red Octane are remaining tightlipped about the features within, every indication led us to believe that it's safe to assume that at least a few of the modes, both co-op and competitive, will be playable over the Internet.

I heard from a friend of mine that each console will have alternative songs at certain points during the game, like the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero IIhad a My Chemical Romance song and the PlayStation 2 version didn't. Could anyone verify this?

They are saying it like they don't want to say outloud, "Guitar hero II will have no online multiplayer"

same goes with Super Smash Bros

True, and not only that one, they added others for the 360 ver.

And if this is true this puts the Wii ver. way behind the others. To me it's not even for the online co-op but because of the downloadable content. They better get the online working.

This is ridiculous considering it's only the developers fault if they didn't get online working in time. It has nothing to do with Nintendo's end, the Wii. There's already games one Wii that have online so it's not like we don't know if it works. Lazy developers!

Yeah, but this is they way fighters have progressed over the years, update graphics. The next instalation? Update graphics. Controls are the same, maybe a new combo or flashy special move thrown in, but mostly graphics. So it isn't right to complain about Smash doing that when every other fighter is guilty of the same offense.

no, other fighters dont revamp their fighting sytem and vastly imporve physics(if they even have physics), adds many new play modes, add lots of new characters, and vastly improves their stages.

Seriously? :| The best song on there is Knights of Cydonia and i can play that already on a normy guitar. I was considering buying the game just for that awesomeness, but it's not enough. There are nowhere near enough songs, and of the ones on there, nothing as awesome as was in the original guitar hero.

Agreed. Rock Band's tracklist is 10X better then GHIII. But if there is online and downloadable content for the Wii, and if it's cheaper, I might end up buying GHIII for the Wii and Rock Band for the 360.

Knights of Cydonia is on it??? Awesome, I love MUSE!!! I'm just picking up the game for a second guitar controller for Rock Band, since a guitar for the 360 is like $80.
