.... because they can..... ??

I don't want to see Sony destroyed.... but I do want to see them on their knees begging for mercy. They are arrogant, and deserve to pay for being so.

moistsandwich

Wow, you realize they are basically indirectly attacking gamers, right? Its not Sony who loses, its the Gaming audience. If hackers take Sony out, you know next its gonna be Microsoft or Nintendo.

They dont have a vendetta with gaming.... they have it with Sony. As far as I know and anyone else knows, they are fine with MS and Ninty. Why are you making stuff up?

There's a difference between making stuff up and theorizing. I am simply pointing out that there will be a domino effect if they take down Sony.

Honestly, those guys are living on borrowed time. As I've mentioned, Sony got the FBI and Homeland Security involved so once they get caught and made an example of, we won't have to deal with any more threats worded like they were typed by a 13 year old /b/ addict.

All this hacking crap again yet no one still have any information about how or what are they (Sony and the authorities) doing to bring them down... They stole millions of people's information yet the FBI or the government has not yet caught up to them...? Seriously?

Why does Sony need to be punished in the first place?

Because they are arrogant, talk crap about the competition instead of just bragging about their own product, try to bully people, sue other corporations for being too competitive, have a false sense of entitlement... need I go on?

Why do you think Sony Corp are such angels?

It's like the internet phenom of that kid beating down the bully, it's nice to see the Bully put in his place.

What are you, some anti-sony fanboy?

They are a company, they are gonna do whatever they can to be on top. Unless it for some reason effects you, why the heck do you care.

I only care if a company can provide a product, that's what they are here for. I could care less how they handle their business unless they are killing people.

"Yeah Nintendo has some pretty good stuff, some are even better then ours." Bully people? Geohotz? He knew what was going to happen yet he still did it. Sue other companys for being to competitive? Where did that come from?

Right now XBL is running a promotion 2 months for $2. Vast majority of games played competitively on PSN are played at a higher level on XBL, a more secure service and on top of that, look better. Oh wait, thats why X360 sales have doubled since their last console and PS3 sales are one third of their previous consoles XD

Yeah, not a single one of the companies are even close to perfect. If you want perfection, game on PC lol. I make a system that is amazing and I am a great guy ;). The Wii, PS3, and 360 all have issues, and all the companies have done bad things.

-Oh wow, people on Xbox have so much more SKILL in COD then Playstation Users. - Anything is hackable, I thought everyone understood that -Sorry, I would rather have a service with no annoying ads in my face the whole time. -Kinect -Still #1 console in Japan at this moment with xbox literally competing with PS2 for last place and ps2 still sells like hot cakes. Isn't that sad, a 6 year old console head to toe with a 10 year old console and struggling to win :?

So you want to see a company get destroyed because it has bad PR? Nintendo was very arrogant (not in their PR, but in the way they treated developers) in the past, do they deserve to disappear?

All three major hardware producers have done nasty things as companies. But it's not like they're monsanto.

Dont see the hackers point, causing sony havoc having to spend loads of money to fix and protect itself messes with people of the company, meaning some may have their job cut or pay reduce it doesnt really help anyone Sony is a business and all businesses do what Sony does their no different from any major money making machine. They cant be for the gamers because none of us wanted this, it only caused headaches for the gamers that cant play anything online and having to worry about their credit card information possibly be stolen. There are alot of companys that do worse then Sony yet i dont see them rising up doing something for the greater good.

you only need to find 1 and set an example,Zaibach

The problem is, that example will also get Sony taken apart by governments around the world. A company that starts murdering/assaulting individuals in such a public way as to deter others? Disaster.

The very thing you think will scare hackers away (and btw, I don't think it will, they're not a monolithic organization) will also destroy Sony by indictment in a way hackers could never hope to.

My initial post was for the loand not to be taken seriously, but if recenttrends are to be taken seriously, every time oneof these maggotts throws a tantrum, a bank somewhere will be be hacked and millions will be peu at risk, or who knows an oil company or traffic lights and utilities, think die hard 4.0 :P

Zaibach

I look at it this way: Sony tried to take a rather misguided stand, noble nonetheless, to protect the further spread of piracy on their console. In return for the bad PR, the nightmare that's been the loss of PSN for nearly a month, and the loss of trust they've suffered with consumers, what did they gain? They prevented Hotz from openly jailbreaking their systems again? They sort of stopped one individual? Not really worth it.

Sony was specifically targetted for its actions during the Hotz case, specifically its subpoeaning of Hotz's PayPal records, server records and IP addresses. That's why Anon came out against them. There's no reason to believe Nintendo or Microsoft would be targetted in a similar manner.

Did you forget that the PS2 is Japanese and the 360 is American? Of course there's an allegiance towards Sony. Dumb argument is dumb.

IMHO, there has been a long-time hatred for all things SONY after Microsoft joined the ring. What causes it? I'm sure a number of things. Sony's previous arrogance, the success of the PS2, the success of Blu-Ray, Rampant Fanboyism (I'm sure this would be the number one reason behind it all), and now, the thing with Hotz gave a bunch of pissed-off anti-Sony fanboy hackers an "excuse" to direct their attention at SONY. Despite what people seem to be thinking.. these guys aren't stupid. Whether or not they know in full the possible consequences of their actions, and are just toying/trolling SONY, who knows, but the fact is, this is dragging on for far too long. Sony got hit, hard. People still saying Sony "needs to be punished" need their heads examined. For starters, you aren't going to make a company be less competitive by hacking them, or hating them. Not to mention the fact that in the laws eyes (and most reasonably logic-minded people) SONY has done nothing wrong. Sony didn't steal millions of peoples info. I think it is clear that fanboyism has gone way too far if people think the attack on the PSN was at all "deserved" or even "ok". Really begs the question "what if the shoe was on the other foot?". I'm sure there would be more than plenty of Sony fanboys reveling in the "glory" of an equivalent hack to XBL (GOD forbid). So it's not that either fanboy club is better than the other, but still, it's really crazy to see even a few people try to somehow "justify" this ... atrocity. I for one don't wish the kind of problems Sony's been having on ANY company. I am a REAL gamer. I play video games because I love them. And these hackers are trying to hurt people like me. They are trying to hurt people in such a way that their hands are proverbially "clean" yet millions still suffer because of their actions. How is that justifyable? because some company that YOU don't support got "pwned"? Meh. I guess I'll never understand fanboy logic. heh.

To me its pointless. They will get caught this time since they watching PSN very closely and I hope they find these people and put them in Prison forever. When I think of hackers I think of people who live in there mom's basement and they got nothing else do expect hack. They could at least get outside to the real world.

Why does Sony need to be punished in the first place?

hiryu3

Because they are arrogant, talk crap about the competition instead of just bragging about their own product, try to bully people, sue other corporations for being too competitive, have a false sense of entitlement... need I go on?

Why do you think Sony Corp are such angels?

It's like the internet phenom of that kid beating down the bully, it's nice to see the Bully put in his place.

you truly are clueless if you think Sony is the only company that operates that way. Microsoft is more like that.

First off, who cares if they are not the only one? Does it make it right? Second, Sony is infamous (no pun intended) for shady business practices against consumers and competiting businesses. Rootkits on peoples machines is just one example. Microsoft tries to destroy businesses sure, but they are smart enough not to try shady business practices on their consumers. The only thing Microsoft is guilty of on its consumers is premium prices and Sony does the same thing.

Sony has been literally trying to bite the hand that feeds them for years now and it finally caught up with them. The only thing I see here as "clueless" is the brand loyalty people on these forums have to this company. I mean open your eyes man.

THEY started flexing their corporate muscle around and for what? Because some kid told people how to get Linux back on their PS3s after Sony took it away? It's their property and a feature they paid for. As far as I am concerned, the minute Sony was able to get ip addresses of people going to websites and looking at that kids Paypal records was the minute I realized that Sony is a company I do not want to do business with.

Well...that, credit card info, and attention. But hey, it's all for the benefit of the Playstation fanbase right?
Weren't tons of Sony websites/fanboys hailing these guys as heroes a few months back?

THEY started flexing their corporate muscle around and for what? Because some kid told people how to get Linux back on their PS3s after Sony took it away?daledoback

They were flexing their muscle because he was trying to hack their security measures, which would be a serious threat to both their online gaming and online stores...both of which are now crapped up because that one kid posted the security codes online.

Also, Sony took Linux away because that same kid was trying to use it to hack the PS3 (or rather, was constantly taunting them about his ability to hack the PS3, months before any of this nonsense took place).

Sony may not be the most clean company, but I don't see how their actions as of late have been particularly unjustified.

Okay stop it with the Hacker/PSN threads already. This is just getting annoying. Everyday I check System Wars there is a new topic about it saying the exact same thing as the last.
