Yea, just like everyone else, never happened to me either. This thread should be locked for misleading and false info.

None of my 360 games have ever gotten scratched. I had heard before I bought the 360 that this happened, but so far I've yet to have any of my game discs get any scratches on them. :D

I wouldn't be supprised, the 360 can scratch your disc even WITHOUT touching it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlQYkaXv8RUmicky4889

That is EXACTLY what my cousin's Need For Speed Undercover Disk looks like. A circular Ring scratched around the entire disk that looks just like that.

I have never had my disc scratched by my xbox 360. So i don't know what the employee is talking about. Also, no ps3 owner buys the warranty since blu-ray discs are very durable.

Well, there goes most the threads in SW...:P

I've heard of the 360 scratching games, just like the PS2 did. But not from just playing it... it happens when people move the console with a game inside, especially with a game running. And if you are moving around your console with games running inside, then that's your fault. Sounds to me like Gamestop guy was using this silliness to get a boost on his commision. It's a non-issue.

*Edit* After looking around on the net and watching the posted vids I'd have to agree it seems apparent that some people have had this issue without actually moving the 360 around. To me, it would be smarter for those few affected to notify MS and demand free servicing, rather than everyone go out and buy warranties against something that happens to so few people. Stuff happens with complicated machines.

I'm soooooo happy about this new warranty about scratched disks. I have had so many problems with scracthed disks its not even fair. Two of the Xbox 360s i got from repairs scratched my games. Now if I have another problem I can just get a new disk for only a 3$ price.

Yep I remember when I worked at a gamestop, customers would bring in games with a nice ring scratched into it from their 360. We felt so bad for them, If it was a used game most of the time we would just exchange it and defect out the destroyed game. Because most of our customers were recurring ones anyone anyone. Red Ring Of Death for your console and Razor Ring of death for your games.

To be fair the xbox is built really cheaply, it has scratched loads of my discs and meant that one of the cutscenes in halo wars refuses to play. I never move my console when it has a disc in but it still scratches certain discs. I have another strange problem with mine in that if you go anywhere near the video cable at the back, so for instance when i plug the ethernet cable in the video picture goes crazy turning red or purple or green, until i wiggle the cable about a bit. MS sent me a refurb unit so perhaps they sent me a duff one. Oh and my gamertag is mattacular117 if you dont believe me.

He not making it up, they've asked me before if I want the warranty for my games. The only thing I don't like is it is only for 1 year, otherwise I might be tempted to buy the warranty.

My 360 hasn't ever scratched a game. Am I just lucky? The warranty isn't just for the system scratching it, but also wear and tear etc. Blu-Ray discs are pretty hardy.

lundy86_4
No other people are just stupid. The only reason 360 scratches discs is if you are moving the system while the disc is spinning.

I'm suprised not too many know about this problem. What causes it is missing pads that would prohibit the lens from hitting the disc due to vibrations or whatever. Alot actually got effected by this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlQYkaXv8RU - It appeared on Kassa, a Dutch TV-show.

Quoting a gamestop employee having an "interesting conversation" is like quoting Cliffy B…. VG charts.. and Play magazine all at once..

It should never be done..

Whoa whoa whoa, some gamestop employees actually know what they are talking about. I'm a former one myself. you just have to hope you're lucky enough to not have a gamestop where the employees feel they are better then the average gamer because they have some stupid job behind a counter. When I worked at game stop I made sure all my info was correct, one because I love games and being a gamer and two because people expected me to have a vast knowledge of games and the gaming industry.

To use in his 360 that doesn't have a gamertag? :)

It all makes sense! :P

TheCoreGamer_

I don't have a gamertag listed, but it doesn't mean I don't have a 360. Why do people assume you have to have a gamertag posted because you own a 360?

thats what i was wondering.

it practically forces you to create one. if you want to clear this nonsense up once and for all, simply create a gamertag and let us all know what it is. that way, it will provide proof that you own the system.

Not a single disc of mine has scratched. I just suppose your 360 is just a scratching machine.

The fanboys will never believe that their precious (360) actually can fail at something. Even after the RROD situation, if it didn't happen to them, it didn't happen. I on the other hand have seen disks scratched with a perfect circular scratch around the disk. This is no false info, h575309 is just a fanboy that won't believe that it can mess up.

Just because it didn't happen to you or others doesn't mean it dont happen. If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around does it still make a noise?

The point isn't whether the tree made a sound, it's whether the tree fell at all, especially if the only word we have to go by is that of a tree-hater.
