Jealous maybe? Outside of rpg's how much personality do any game Main characters have? "It'sa me, Mario!" Isn't going to win any script writing awards. The success in Halo is the world that it developed. Have you read any of the books? Or the comics? What about the award winning soundtrack. For a "simple" fps it's got ton of personality. And that is why it sold in record breaking amounts. If the halo franchise was a Nintendo or Sony exclusive people wouldn't be so negative. It's only because it's Microsoft that people take issue.

umm ever heard of metal gear solid! not only does the game have personality but all the characters do as well....the monkey in the 4th one has the same amount of personality as MC from halo!!! and he was talking about the character, not the game...the characters in halo have hardly any personality.

As for this news, I think this is a good thing. I don't think retrodding over the three video games territory is something gamers will enjoy ad something the mass maket will understand (Bungies story telling is kind of poor).

These guys create FPS and RTS games, a genre of games that don't really carry that much story in the first place. IMO if they made an adventure game it would have proven your point wrong.

You have to give them credit for creating the halo universe, which has enveloped games, comics, books and almost the theater.

Halo 1 back then was praised for it's story, gamespot themselves applauded the game by saying it rivals most movies in terms of presentation and story.

Sure I've heard of metal gear, great game. But if the Halo franchise have "hardly any personality" then how did it become the blockbuster that it is? Books don't sell unless there are interesting things to read in them. It's fine to say " I don't like Halo" its unrealistic to say it doesn't have an interesting story or plausible characters. I'm glad that George Lucas didn't listen to the same kind of comments when he was trying to pitch his "boring story". Look it up if you don't believe me.

Melodramatic characters =/= good story.

It's the setting, the immersiveness of the world that IMO contribute a lot more than some characters that cry all the time for having such a sucky life.

isnt nicole the name of the spartan that they had in doa4. dont remember how she was able to warp back in time, but i remember there was a story for it.

Master Chief is male according to the book series, based on the Halo bible kept by Bungie. They wouldn't allow that much creative freedom on their IP.
