On http://black-aperture.com/ the Half life 3 logo has appeared with with "Valve, Steam and Source" all printed underneath. It all looks very official. It links to the Orange box when you click on it too.

Im not sure how credible this is but it seems pretty cool to me

This is interesting. Possibly Valve finally will unveil information of Half Life 2 Episode 3 or Half Life 3.

Even if they register a trademark and domain, that doesn't mean the game will come out anytime soon. >_>

Half Life 3 better NOT be on Source engine. I'm expecting a brand new mindblowingly awesome engine.

this reminds me of the find makarov thing.

im not ready to believe it. and i think the name "black aperture" sounds incredibly generic and stupid considering its just a play on black mesa and aperture science that some random fan trying to make controversy made up.

Come on Valve, I know you can get over that fear of the number 3!

Could be a new iteration of source. Like how unreal engine gets new version all the time.

And if Half-Life 3 were on the Source it would most likely still be a "stellar game". The engine a game runs on doesn't mean a damn thing

It also needs a new engine I think.

I mean, Source has held up for a long time, but its dated. Half-Life 3 needs like, SUPER Source. I mean, playing RAGE and Battlefield 3 just sort of spoiled me I guess when the engines are so awesome and the games are pretty and smooth as hell (on both PC AND consoles, at least for RAGE), and I think its time for a Source 2 to give us some next generation graphics and gunplay, especially with new consoles supposedly around the corner and beefier PC's coming out every 5 minutes that can eat the Source engine for breakfast.

It cant, and it does matter. Half Life 3 running on the same engine as HL2 is a crime. And enough with Source already, it had a good, long run.

PC graphic whores...how cute. This is the same company that has only ever made one series from the ground up, don't give Valve too much credit.

Is it possible that Valve has ignored their one creation because they are building another iteration from the ground up? Sure, and hopefully thats what they are doing.

Pretty much. The point of episodic content is to keep smaller bits of a full game released regularly, like every one or two years. They followed this with Episode 1 and 2 (both released within a year of eachother, a year after HL2), but then they haven't said a damn thing about the series since Episode 2 came out in 2007.

In that time we've had 4 full Call of Duty games from two developers, 3 Assassin's Creed games, 4 Battlefield titles, 2 Batman games, 2 Left 4 Dead titles (from Valve no less), 2 Fallout titles from two different developers, as well as Grand Theft Auto IV and two of its own major expansions (and a whole new GTA V in between a crap ton of other Rockstar titles due next year).

At this point there's now way this is just an episode running on Source. If I was a gambling man, I'd wager Valve used the time to work on other series, while also making a new engine and working on a full new Half-Life title to use on the engine. At this point, the gunplay and mechanics are getting dated, so it would make sense I think for them to be doing that.

So glad they moved to episodes so that we get them more often :D I wonder will it take longer then 5 years? That;s how long it takes to make a whole Elder Scrolls game, imagine if it took Valve longer to make one episode :P

Timespan between Oblivion and Civilization 4 is about 6 months. Timespan between HL2 and HL3 ?

You're expecting Valve to bring forth cutting edge level of graphics? Why? Because Half-life 2 was a great looking game for its time? Valve needs to invest more resources into their AI, not their graphics. Their games look great but the AI is laughable. But, that's right, everything is about graphics now. We don't want to be stuck in this generation forever...

"Wanting this generation to end" silly statement, and wanting HL3 to be "cutting edge graphically" does give weight that your wants are misguided. Give me better level design, and better AI--don't give a f*ck if the game doesn't look like the Crysis of its time.

Half Life 3 better NOT be on Source engine. I'm expecting a brand new mindblowingly awesome engine.

SovietsUnited

Could be a new iteration of source. Like how unreal engine gets new version all the time.

No, just no.

Half Life 3 needs to be a stellar game.

highly doubtful theyll build whole new engine from scratch even if its a nextgen console game
