I love this game, and it still looks fantastic!

[QUOTE="swamprat_basic"]The game certainly had atmosphere, but otherwise, it just felt like a giant tech demo. The graphics were never that great.Sgt_Crow
Tech demo? Graphics were never that great?
Lmao, you haven't played this game, no matter what you say.
I actually agree with him, I never felt that Half Life 2 had quality action. The guns while interesting felt generic (of course with the exception of the Gravity Gun). The few puzzles that was there wasnt fun to me, some scenarios felt very boring (Nova Prospect) and overall I had a more enjoyable time with the likes of Halo. Half Life 2 disturbed me, I loved Half Life because at the time the gameplay moments were very intense in comparison (The difficulty in the original was alot harder than Half Life 2) and the AI gave you a solid challenge (unlike Half Life 2's for some reason). I just couldnt pull myself to finish Half Life 2, it never really gave me the much needed push to finish it.
Half Life 2 Episode 1 and Episode 2 in the otherhand actually felt more action-oriented by designing some very clever scenarios and overall beats Half Life 2 over the head in terms of fun factor. Valve is a great company and one of the prime reasons why I feel that they are truely great is because of their dedicated attention towards feedback and it showed when I was having a blast going through Episode 1 and Episode 2 in comparison to Half Life 2.
The Orange Box is the best game ever fo'sure,.
It looks extremely immpresive for its time and is still pretty good looking today, but there are beter looking games out atm.
Am currently playing HL2 (still have Ep1 & Ep2 to finish), its definately a great game, but surely not the best looking game.... still though its amazing and hopefully will shortly finish HL2 and start Ep1...
Still looks wonderful indeed.
For a 4 year old game.
Art Style has held it up magnificently as has the source engines changes.
I dont like that Cinematic mod though.... the textures look off in many areas.........
Someone post Lost Coast screens already!
edit*
actually I have to say... in the cinematic mod...
This
and this
look jaw droppingly good.
Not much of a fan of the Half Life Series.
Team Fortress and Portal rocked the orange box hard though, TF2 in my opinion more than the latter.
Ancient game, and yet you can't max it out? All those jaggies hurt my eyes.
Here some better pictures.
The graphics still beat most games for the 360 and ps3 even today. It had such atmosphere and the surroundings looked so real and detailed. Best fps I've ever played.
Negative.
although HL2/ source engine games still have really good facial animations compared to the rubbish in some games today.
