360 cant do 1080p just like how an lcd cant do i nativelydeadmeat59now thats just ignorance...the 360 can upscale every game to 1080p and supports it natively for a few....
if the game was native 1080p it would run at 10FPS on mutiplat360
so ill just wait until it goes to PC and run it at 1080p at 60FPS :D
OMG... Would people stop saying Halo3 does 1080p natively... Its scaled... Im saying this now, so us lemmings as a whole dont get owned later...And what does the resolution have to do with how good the game is, seriously?wolverine4262

I do.
Bungie did say it was 720p. There are games that do run 1080p on the 360 though. It is capable of it after a firmware update, and a few titles use it.
Either way, my LCD is 720p native, so I don't much care! :D
I do.

"Usually only third party publishers have had the HDTV 1080p logo on the back of their released Xbox 360 title's boxes, but nothing released by MGS. That will change on September 25th." SO, all those third party games were 1080p?

Look everyone, Bungie has said time and again (especially after that rumor that MS was forcing 1080p on them) that Halo 3 would be at 720p since 1080p was dragging down the framerate without offering much in the way of benefits.
Halo 3 is 720p native. I don't care what the box art says. I will listen to the developer over the box any day.
[QUOTE="deadmeat59"]360 cant do 1080p just like how an lcd cant do i nativelyTrailorParkBoySiged for ignorance/stupidity. i work at a tv shop the only display that can do interlacing is crt or some projection. lcd tvs can only display progressive in its native res witch for most mid rang tvs is 1366x768p. it can take the 1080i signal but displays it as its native. i was in no way worng with what i said if so prove me wrong

isnt it possible that they save the real goodies for the end? I think its going to be 1080P like it or not.

Yes, Bungie flat out denied it being 080p because it was damaging the frame rate only to turn around and add it...
Bungie would have no reason at all to deny something like that only to add it later. Its 720p, it will be 720p, and you know what, 99% of the gamers with a 360 would never know the difference.

Yeah but do you have the money for it??? If you do more power to you, but a 1080p projector is like 3K for aPOS, and 6k for a decent one. Where 2K buys a sweet meat 720p projector, and now you can get some good 720p projectors for $800.00. Man you haven't played a game untill you play it on a 120" screen.

I'm glad to hear that...I was worried that they were gonig to have to do 1080P and lose a lot of effects to keep the framerate up.

With scaled 1080p the GPU renders each frame in 720p and then the scalor chip upconverts it to 1080p. It looks better then 720p but not as good as native 1080p. With native the GPU renders the frame at 1080p which puts more strain on the GPU. Unless your game is on a budget and the graphics can only be so good anyway 720p is better because you can use more pollys, higher res textures, and better effects. All the best looking games this gen will be 720p.

when you say not as good what kind of difference will i notice?this thread is full of guess work and missinformation. 1080p is only relevent if you display is over 50" becouse as the screen gets bigger it needs more pixels. if your not sure about the technoligy and you genuinly want too know about it go to howstuffworks.com or some of the many AV website and learn about it. native means a 1-1 ratio each pixel on the display is given seperate information.doobie1975so what you are saying is there almost any difference in the quality and if my tv set is smaler than 50inches i should not notice anything.

you wait for years for the PC version and we will be playing it in 1080p (not upscaled) and at a excellent framerate (so far, impressions have been that it's running faster then 30fps).

thank you for your light and may i ask something else what the difference betwen hdmi cable and composite in the screen because many people are saying hdmi its much better ?go to www.dl.tv the have a feature on all this stuff. and shows you how little differance there is in it. the biggest benifit for HDMI is it carry audio, so it cut down on cables. and alot of HD souces will only work over HDMI becouse of copyright protection.
